    Dimond park overlooking picnic tables

We booked 2 strip of tables at dimond park for Easter birthday celebration. It was honestly not needed to book as the park was empty and tables were free! Plenty of space to host a party here. The park is massive. So many things for kiddos to explore via 3 playgrounds, small hikes, small hills to climb and ample space to run wild and free. Plenty of bathrooms as well. Gorgeous park! Happy Oakland has a nice big park like thus! We had a blast and recommend people to come here to celebrate for any occasion!

While visiting friends in Oakland last month, I discovered this park. It's a lovely, slightly hidden neighborhood gem! There are a few trail options and several picnicking spots to choose from. Dogs are welcome just as much as people. The trails were easy to find and navigate. And it's easy to spend an afternoon here.

They have two newly remodeled tennis courts! HMU if you want to play lol. Unfortunately no tennis wall. It's a large park with a lot going on - a couple of playgrounds, walking trails that lead to other parks, and a pool! It's right above the Safeway. You can find street parking or nearby neighborhood parking. Also some cool historical stuff randomly - like this Dimond Liberty Bell - haha seen in my photos!

What a wonderful gem in the Oakland hills. Big level grass and play areas for picnicking, with group benches, and large community pool when it all opens back up. The trail is amazing (and I never use that word) where you hike in the bottom of the narrow canyon along the creek, surrounded on all sides by dense vegetation. The birds songs are spectacular as you work your way up the trail. As others note, this trail goes all the way up to Joaquin Miller park... One thing to address is the parking. Dimond Park is set in the middle of a residential neighborhood. There is basically no parking lot, and when you do park on a residential street PLEASE be respectful and quiet.

I would give it 5 if not for a small contingent of homeless. Then tennis courts are well kept. That's were I rent courts to teach. Friends of Dimond Park do a monthly work day park clean up!

The playgrounds here desperately need better maintenance. The park doesn't have a lot of parking spaces.

My buddy took me here because I wanted a waterfall hike and he wanted to stay in town. The Sausal Creek hike from Dimond Park was his winning offer and our perfect compromise. The overwhelmingly paradoxical feeling of being both in the big city and in the middle of nowhere, at the same time, is something that can't find anywhere else. My favorites in the area: - Oakland's oldest oak - Rope swing by the creek - Well-maintained urban art along the underpass - Creek

    Beautiful park.

My wife an I recently moved into our first house, and it is just around the corner from this lovely park! We discovered it walking back from Safeway on Dimond, finding a shortcut that ran through the park. It's a great park with a public pool, basketball and tennis courts, a couple playgrounds and a million BBQ pits under beautiful redwoods. It also has some trails that lead into the Oakland hills along Sausal Creek. It gets a little shady at night, but during the day it's a perfect place for a BBQ, a walk, or a place to let the kids run around and play.

Dimond Park is a nice area tucked between Fruitvale Ave and Park Blvd, accessible from each. They have two different playground areas (see photos of one), hiking and walking through wooded areas, multiple group picnic areas, a heated pool, and an area for summer performance (e.g. www.womanswill.org). The only downside is that the hiking trails aren't always clear.

This is a great park; it has tennis courts, a swimming pool, a large play structure for bigger kids, a tot-sized play structure for little kids, large grassy fields, and basketball courts. The recent renovation has daylighted a significant part of Sausal Creek and made it a prominent and beautiful part of the park. My favorite part about it is following Sausal Creek up into upper Dimond Park, across Hanly Road. This small canyon is quite isolated from the noise of the city, and in wet seasons feels like a small rainforest. It makes for a great trail run.

Parking is street in a residential area, free of meters and parking time limitations. The park is closed off to traffic, so crossing between the tot and big play areas is pretty safe. It is very quiet, even with the sounds of children and adults. There are two benches directly on the play area of the big kids (5-12), with three additional double benches with attached tables. There are well maintained, stocked restrooms directly off the big kid play area. Littles and parents will have to time their potty time as it is about 30-45 seconds from the tot play space. To the left are three picnic tables. In front of the sand area is the smaller kids play area which is directly next to the restrooms and water fountain. To the left of the little play area is the zip line. When you go further in to the park, there is a covered area with lots of picnic tables and seating grouped together, more benches and lots of grass to play and explore further. There are paths to ride bikes, scooters, roller blades and skateboards. During warmer weather this park is packed. When we visited, following a prior event, there were already lots of kids on a gray, windy, overcast day. This park is spacious on the interior but parking on the exterior is limited. The parking lot is minimal for the amount of space to explore, which is awesome but makes it difficult to navigate up close parking. Street parking is not really existent unless you enter on the opposite end of the park.

Fast forward to yesterday. We had a restaurant in Albany that we wanted to check out so of course we had to hike first to get our appetites whet. I found a loop I wanted us to try on AllTrails. It's called the Dunn Trail--Monteiro Trail Loop. We parked at the Richard C. Trudeau Conference Center on Skyline Blvd. It was the perfect spot to start. Free parking. Public restrooms (even flush toilets!). If you have a dog, most of this trail is off-leash which I have never seen before. Every dog we saw were well behaved and having a great time. We don't have dogs of our own but I am a big dog person. This particular loop was exactly what I was looking for. It had several different biomes. Despite what AllTrails said, it is not all shaded but it was a beautiful, sunny, windy day. We saw lots of wildflowers blooming. We found there to be a difference between AllTrails and our measurements. AllTrails said it was roughly 500+ ft elevation gain but ours said 1000. That's a huge difference! But I would believe ours over theirs. There were a lot of inclines. Also, their's said it was 3.5 miles but ours said a mile longer. The trails were all very well maintained. We saw gorgeous views, small waterfalls/creeks, redwoods, butterflies--just lovely. It was less busy than I anticipated but we arrived before 9 a.m. We finished by 11. This is a big park and lots to explore. Highly recommend!

There are bathrooms by the Redwood Bowl but we couldn't find any helpful maps so just used our phones to navigate. The trail we ended up taking was around 4 miles and took 2 hours. Most of it was shaded and among redwood trees so I really enjoyed that this could work as an afternoon hike. It's a moderate difficulty level with some steep areas. There's also a popular picnic area with grills and an archery range. You could even walk to the nearby swimming pool or visit the Chabot. We only did one half of the hiking loop so will be back to check out the other side.
