After diagnosing the issue, they told me that a piece of weatherstripping around the sunroof had come loose, allowing water to leak into the car. The moisture had begun corroding the wiring connection for the rear passenger light. Whenever that light flickered or went out, it caused a chain reaction that affected other features, including the auto wipers. The dealership's proposed solution was extreme: they recommended replacing the wiring harness and light assembly, installing new weatherstripping, and even putting in a brand-new headliner. Their estimate? Just over $6,000 before tax. Thankfully, I decided to get a second opinion and brought my SUV to Addison Body Shop and Glass. The owner, Mike, took a careful look and immediately reassured me that most of the dealership's recommendations were unnecessary. Instead of replacing parts, he reattached the weatherstripping, cleaned the light and its connections, and carefully treated the minor water stains on the headliner.
