Greece comes to Valle!
This is our fourth trip to Valle and it keeps getting better and better. We still have our favorites like Kous/Kous ( that review is coming ) But if you're open to new experiences, amazing food Valle is the place.
Very close to where we stayed, we came upon Dimitri's. It was mid-day on a Friday and don't be fooled if a place isn't crowded. We walked up and we were greeted by the owner, Dimitri, smiling.
Come to find out Dimitri also has a place in Tijuana that's been there for thirty years. But this place is very welcoming, open, and airy. We decided on the following. Note, my mother's family is Greek, so I have high expectations and we're not disappointed.
1. Dolmades- simply the best I've had and it was so fresh and served warm.
2. Pulpo - aka octopus- was sauté to perfection. And like most, I tend to always go, Calamari, because folks don't do pulpo well. This was so tender, served w carrots, spinach, and asparagus.
3. The Green Pizza. I saw Dimitri roll out the fresh dough. This was perfectly crispy and served w Greek sausage and feta
4. A beautiful Sav Blanc- I'm a little embarrassed to say it was so good we finished the bottle.
The beauty of there not being a lot of folks is time spent talking to Dimitri and what a kind person who you can tell has a passion for his heritage. We can't wait to come back for dinner and try moussaka w a nice red.
