Dillon's used to be our favorite grocery store, but since Covid they have turned into a food Walmart. I miss the days when the produce was fresh and they actually provided customer service by bagging your groceries and offering to help take your items to your car. I had to wait quite some time to just get some help at the self checkout today. These days I dread going to Dillon's as much as I do Walmart. I ordered several party trays for a conference at K-State. Liz and Angelita from the Deli Department and the entire bakery crew were amazing. Weekday self checkout cashiers are truly awful. I am a longtime, regular shopper at this location. I have been shopping here for the better part of thirty years, every week, but typically on the weekends. I've gotten to know the weekend staff and they are all generally very friendly and helpful. Zero issues, great customer service. THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE can be said for the weekday staff. Particularly with the self checkout cashiers I've experienced this numerous times over the last few years. The weekend staff seems to always be genuinely friendly and helpful. The weekday staff seems on the contrary to be abrupt, rude, and even give off a vibe of being annoyed to help you. I could list many examples, but I'll just go with the one that literally happened yesterday with a young woman working the self checkout. It started when I'd asked her to please add a bag of ice to my order. For obvious reasons I didn't want to carry around a bag of ice while I shopped (and have it melt). Instead of just typing it in, as they usually do she looked annoyed and said with a huff "you know, you can do that on your own" and proceeded to point to a wheel of product items above the self checkout kiosk. I explained that I had trouble reading fine print, and could not read it. She just scrolled to it, and pointed. I squinted and again said "I'm sorry, it's too small print. I can't read it". She then annoyedly told me the number, and then just stood there waiting instead of helping me further. I went back to the menu and found where to type it in, and then again asked her if I remembered the number right, and she actually had the nerve to huff and point at the small print AGAIN. I again reminded her I cannot read it and repeated the number back to make sure I remembered it right, and she got an annoyed look and said "yes, still the same number". I couldn't believe how rude she was being. I've never been treated like this by the weekend staff before. It's like I was really putting her out by asking for some simple help. She then told me that I didn't need to scan the soda in my cart manually, by the way, and pointed to the hand scanner. I said "oh really, okay thank you" and then she just stood there, impatiently, and pointed at it. I told her I would def do that but was doing two separate orders (this was the day before thanksgiving, and I was shopping for the family), and was going to add the soda to my separate order. She completely ignored me and just pointed at the hand scanner again. At this point I was getting annoyed at her attitude but also exasperated because there was a line forming behind me (and the entire reason I used the self checkout was not to inconvenience others since I was doing two orders) and so when she gestured for me to "hand the scanner to her" I did, and she started scanning the sodas. I figured I'd just do the math later to figure out what to subtract. She saw me looking confused and asked what the problem was and I again repeated that this wasn't supposed to go on this order but "I guess I'll figure it out later" and rather than apologizing she just said "you'll just have to subtract it" and then handed me the scanner and instructed me to scan the last two myself because apparently walking around to the other side of the cart was too difficult She then went to "help" the customer next to me, being just as rude and brisk with her as well. This really isn't helping if the person is treating you like you are stupid, and giving you an attitude. I'd honestly much rather just figure it out myself at that point to be honest. Then as I finished checking out she gave me this smug smirk and said "did you get it all figured out?". Uh yeah, I got it all figured out. I figured out that I will not be using your self checkout lane ever again, and that you are in the wrong line of work because you are extremely rude and impatient to customers trying to shop at Dillon's You guys really would do well to talk to these people about their customer service skills. This is not the only bad experience I've had, but ALL of the bad experiences I've had over the years have been with self checkout people here during the week. I don't understand why the weekend staff is so much more friendly and accommodating, and why the weekday staff is so rude and indifferent, but it's noticeable and it needs to be addressed when lifelong shoppers are starting to feel unwelcome there read more

I've shopped here for years. Sometimes the customer service is fine. I like the fact that the store hires a diversity of people. But when I walked in five minutes early, before the store open, unbeknownst to me, I got barked out by a male employee who said "you know we're not open yet," looking at me all incredulous though the door was open. And I said, so what do you want me to do? And he says, "well you could wait outside until we open up." I pointed out the doors were open, but he says, "we're just trying to air the place out." As if this would be obvious to me, because I live there 24/7 know all their routines. So that encounter didn't turn out well. And that's not the only one. I've also been danced at in a sarcastic manner by a bagger because I dared ask for a paper bag. I ended up telling her I would just do it myself because I know how to put things into paper bags. Over time, my encounters with employees here have been a mixed bag with some of them being super nice, and others displaying outright hostility like those two. You never know what you're going to get, and it's weird to get zinged by employees when you're just trying to get food at a grocery store. This isn't New York City, and , you're not a deli.And so, I avoid the store as much as I can. It's only a few blocks away, but I'll drive across town to go to the other one or to the Hy-Vee. read more

Self check assistant think of we stealing grocery and never listen what's going on. Today I shopped there, there self check out assistant is not very nice This is because she thought I try to steal grocery. I don't understand what is going on. When I go to self check out, I tried to scan the 6 lemons, but the computer doesn't allowed me. Then I called help,but I touched the payment bottom by ancient. When the assistant show up, I told her What's going on. And she checked my bag several times and scan the carrots which I already scanned. My husband and me keeping told her we already scanned the carrots and the computer can't find the tow-dimensional code of the lemons. But she still keep saying we only scared 5 stuffs, there are 6 stuffs on our bags and she scanned the carrots anyway. I could understand she check our shopping bags. But I don't understand why she think we steal the carrots and scanned it second times anyway, even though we pointed the computer show that the carrots are in the screen and she checked our shopping bags several times.she still think we steal them and never listen us. I don't think I've ever felt the need to put a review for a grocery store until now. The workers up front at the self check out are usually awesome. But this is the 3rd time I go to this store and they have expired stuff on the shelves. I've bought a few things before not looking at the expiration date just to get home and realize it's expired, so I've made it a habit to check it, ESPECIALLY at this store. It's mainly their yogurt that's literally ALWAYS expired. Yesterday I saw one that expired on March 8th. It is now April 23 so that's over a month of expiration. The first time I told them about it and went a week later to the same expired yogurt. Then the second time I took all of the expired yogurts out and brought them to the front of the store and told them about it. Then the 3rd time I told them about how this is the 3rd time I see expired yogurt back there, some of them were 3 MONTHS expired I continued shopping after that just to see the workers actually taking the yogurts out, as I overheard them laughing saying, "who even eats this yogurt anyways?" I am truly disgusted not only in their lack of checking their products expiration dates, but also by the workers that think it's so funny to do that. This is the closest grocery store to me so I'll probably keep going, but just know to please please PLEASE, check your expiration dates when shopping at this store. And to Dillon's, please do better, you can seriously harm people by selling expired goods. read more

Every time I have gone in to get chicken gizzard (once a week) they are friendly, fresh, fast with it. I like to know I can go in any time around 11-2 and have this!!! Ok maybe not set up quite as well as their other locations but not a bad grocery store. It's a solid store, decent selection of meats at the deli. The salad and soup bar are a huge plus so you can snack before you shop and avoid those "I'm hungry so I'm buying that right now!" traps. read more

I would shop elsewhere, if there were more options. This place has the WORST parking lot in town(Westloop). Constantly out of staple items and sale items not stocked. Items ring up without the sale price frequently. The bakery doesn't make anything special, just generic cookies and school cafeteria quality bread. The layout of the store is ridiculous. The only open about 4 checkouts, while blocking the unused lanes with shopping carts preventing you from entering the store from anywhere but 2 entrances. I'm a usual customer, this is the store I always go to. I enjoy the fuel points and the good deals. Today I got confused about a sale that was going on and went to the customer service desk, the older gentleman that was called over to help laughed at me for misunderstanding the sale. I love this Dillons! The sales are great and well marked, you can download coupons on your phone, the staff is top notch and always says hi or asks if they can help you find something. Their deli selection and meat selection are great, as well as seafood. I prefer this Dillons to the one on Sarber Lane. Fuel points are a given as being a perk! My only semi complaint is they did away with mailing packages there at the help desk. That was always a breeze compared to going to the post office or Fed Ex. read more
