I recently moved to Pittsburg from Joplin and thought I'd give Dillons a chance over Walmart. Dillons now offers online orders and pickup. I tried this service. I spent $225. There were two charges on my bank account of $225. I knew one was a temporary hold and should drop off. Eight days later it still had not dropped off. Kroger customer service is a joke; they are rude and dismissive. They basically told me to go F myself and that they were going to do anything about holding my $225 hostage. It is now a holiday weekend, and by the time the banks open I will have been without this money for 10 days. Now I must dispute it with the bank and wait an additional 7 days. It will then be 17 days that Dillons/Kroger has held my money. At this point they owe me interest on that money. Customer service at the store is zero help, and Kroger customer service was the opposite of help. I'm still trying to find corporate numbers to call and see if they even care enough to take action. So we traveled all the way from Joplin to go to Dillon's because they are even better the Ralph's we used to shop back home in California. Unfortunately I had Chemotherapy yesterday so we didn't get there until almost 8pm and when we asked this very nice lady Laura about the Deli she said it closed at 7pm. So we still found almost everything we needed and out of know where Laura finds us at the front and tells us she could help us at the Deli and she did. This kind of Customer Service is kind of rare these days but not at Dillon's. Before I became I'll I worked in retail and can recognize true devoted, dedicated employees and Laura is one of them. I took a few minutes to track down the Store Manager and shared our experience with her but this kind of over and beyond Customer Service needs to shared in public. If you have a chance, PLEASE drop by there and say HELLO to Laura. She's AWESOME! read more

Dillon Stores - a car parked in front of the store - Grocery Near Me - Pittsburg, Kansas

I like Dillons in Pittsburg, Kansas. It's a Kroger store and reminds me of Jewel Stores and Dominick Food stores in Chicago when we used to live there about 9 years ago. It's not a mega store like Walmart, but it has better quality of Food and the best customer service I've seen while living in Missouri. I live in Webb City, MO and we used to have a Dillons back when the Tornado hit Joplin, MO back in May 22,2011. My family was living in Joplin when that happened. They always shopped at Dillons. Dillons lost their Joplin store in that Tornado and they never rebuilt it. This supermarket was surely missed by our family. My husband and I found their store in Pittsburg Kansas and drive 29 miles to shop with our large shopping order of groceries because they are the only supermarket in the Sw corner of 4-States that is economic and customer oriented that provides a large inventory of quality brand named foods at economic pricing and offers advertising and sales each week. Walmart can't compete with that. Walmart has 4 stores in Joplin/Webb City and at times cannot meet the demands of the needs of the population in this area as they can't refill their stock. I got tired of shopping at Walmart as I could never find anything for weeks (and got tired of running around to all 4 stores ) shopping just to find a item that they advertised and couldn't find in their unstocked shelves (we never know if it's a stock problem of employee not restocking.). Dillons rarely has that problem. Another store I frequent is HyVee in Springfield, MO. I also like traveling the 69-70 miles just to grocery shop. I'd like for both Supermarkets to build their stores in Webb City, MO. Our town is right next door to Joplin's airport. We have huge parcels of unused land that need to be filled (hint hint) and both Dillons and HyVee would be welcomed into our community if Joplin can't make a decision on what their community really needs. Come on Dillons -- Can you rebuild that store you lost in Joplin and this time build it in Webb City? read more

The choices for grocers here in Pittsburg is relatively small. We have Dillons, Wal-Mart, Aldi's. Tonight I went to Dillons, the place was packed since there's a huge storm blowing in. Bread was almost completely gone, produce department was dismal, and the lines to check out took awhile. I did buy aome chocolate cupcakes with bright blue and pink whipped frosting. The frosting was AMAYZING! My three year old loves their cupcakes here. Makes a bloody mess every time, but they taste delicious. read more
