I have been a patient of Dr. Michael Marcus for over 3 years, and after reading some of these…read morenegative reviews posted here on yelp I thought I'd chime in with some personal feedback. Since day one of being evaluated by Dr. Marcus, I must say that I have felt genuinely cared for and my overall experience has been very pleasant from the get-go. This includes Dr. Marcus and his Winchester, MA based staff despite what others have said in many of these reviews. Prior to being evaluated by Dr. Marcus, other psychiatrists/therapists lacked transparency and honesty during my sessions and simply "danced around" the root cause of my problem(s) hindering proper diagnosis. Dr. Marcus was the first psychiatrist to actually LISTEN to me, address my situation and most importantly provide proper diagnosis with a supportive action plan to improve my work/quality of life challenges. Because of this, I consider him to be one of the most professional, thorough, caring and insightful doctors in Boston. On a closing note, he has gone out of his way on many occasions, providing above and beyond care by following up and checking in (even after hours) which validates his credibility as a professional and this compelled me to write this review. Simply put, at the end of the day I prefer a doctor who is open, honest and 100% transparent and that's what you get with Dr. Marcus.

I've been going to this doctor for more than a decade now, and I've never had any problems. In the…read morebeginning, he took the time to get to know me and provide proper diagnosis. We tried a couple of different medications until we found what worked for me. Now I meet with him every 2 to 3 months to make sure everything is going well. The man is doing his job. No, he does not provide 45 minute therapy sessions, but he does have several psychologists on staff if that is what you need. That is not his job though. The complaints on here are really ridiculous. Yes, you have to pay your copayment. Shocking! Yes, you have to call if you were going to cancel an appointment! Shocking! If you are going to a psychiatrist for anger issues, picking a fight with the office staff is probably not the best idea. That was the funniest and sounds more like a sitcom episode plot than a real experience. He has an awesome car and takes very interesting international trips if you take the time to talk to him. The only thing I do not understand is how he gets away with still only doing telephone appointments in the year 2023. He has a beautiful office in Winchester. I wish he would use it. Otherwise, I would've given five stars.

Very happy with The Therapy I've been receiving here. The initial appointment with someone at the…read moreCenter to find me another therapist to work with went very well, & the person did an excellent job of finding me the perfect therapeutic match. I was told if the first person wasn't a good fit, we could keep trying until we found one. Since then I've found the therapist I've been working with to be highly skilled, compassionate, flexible & willing to keep the lines of communication open about accommodating my needs & concerns through this healing process. I like knowing that the therapists here not only have extensive supervision on each case, they must continue their own analysis throughout. An added bonus is that the free workshops they hold on a regular basis for anyone to attend are fun, interesting & have helped me feel even more confident & trusting of this type of therapy. Highly recommended!

I saw a therapist who was not right. It was pretty bad. I told them I wanted to see someone else and got more specific about what I was looking for. The second woman I saw was different, but also not right. I've been in therapy before and I'm sort of confused about what this place is actually all about, it all felt ...off. I don't know how else to describe it. Very strange environment as well. Anyway, would not recommend.
