Going to the dentist isn't fun (duh), but if you have to go, choose wisely and head in here. You probably got the point I had some terrible experiences as a kid and young adult in "the chair." I'm a needle chicken and my body is incredibly efficient at processing any substances (Novocain/Marcain etc). Dr. Nadji patiently listened and numbed me before the sneaky shots (she might have been a slight of hand artist in another life). She recommended Nitrous which helped with the anxiety. Nine hours later with a deep cleaning (scaling & planing ), two root canals and three crowns down I was done and the pain afterwards was minimal. They dd it all in one day because I tend to disappear between visits. They say they didn't but I'm pretty sure they had a betting pool on whether I would show. They truly are gentle, kind, and incredibly considerate . So if you're a big dental coward like myself, it is worth checking out. My next visit is for some whitening!

I am currently uninsured and was very clear about my tight budget and need for affordable preventive care. I paid the $299 upfront and had the exam. During the exam, the doctor informed me I needed a "deep cleaning" for nearly $1,200. I explained I simply could not afford that and asked to just receive the regular "free" cleaning included in the plan I just bought. I was told no, the doctor could not perform a standard cleaning because it was a liability issue, I am out $299 for an exam and a membership card. I received no cleaning at all. The "2 free cleanings a year" benefit is effectively void if the doctor decides you need a deep cleaning which was not explained before paying. This felt more like a way to get me in the door to sell me the 1200 dollar procedure I could not afford.

I called the office and although they were fully booked Dr. Alvarez made a spot first thing in the morning to see my little one. She evaluated his teeth and provided different treatment options to chose from. I never felt pressured to choose one route or the other. Based on her rationales I knew I was getting sound medical advice. Dr. Alvarez was so patient, knowledgeable and knew how to calm my toddler while she worked on his teeth. Dr. Alvarez and her whole staff were all so kind, professional, and very welcoming to all their patients. Right when we walked in we were greeted with a smile from the front desk. It is apparent Safari smiles staff love working here and they all create a warm and inviting atmosphere... which really helps if you have kids that get anxious about seeing the dentist. When I asked for records of the x-rays so I could look at them and get a second opinion they said they'd send them and never did. Do NOT recommend. The quality of care is terrible. We were in there for over 4 hrs because they had overbooked. One poor guy was given local anesthesia and told to wait in the lobby while the doctor worked on other patients. He sat for over an hour waiting and his anesthesia started to wear off! They overbook, overcharge and under serve. Never again!

I had visited a mall dentist when I first moved to town, and suddenly I had two cavities and had been grinding my teeth. After one time getting the fillings I was left with extreme sensitivity to temperatures. After the SECOND time I still had issues. Know what the mall dentist said? That I needed root canals! Imagine! From suddenly-appearing and non-issue "cavities" to root canals within 6 weeks! I was not believing my ears and so I wanted another dentist, happened to be at another doctor and asked. So I explained my concerns to Dr. Salko and he asked if he could try to redo the fillings. As he was grinding away the hack-job from the prior dentist, Dr. Salko was verbally amazed at how poorly the other dentist's technique was. The fillings were those composite jobbers and require proper technique, otherwise issues arise like mine. 18 years later, I never had the root canals and have not had a problem since. Oh - I also don't grind my teeth (there is no evidence that I do), so the mall dentist was enriching his own pocket with that one. Since this work 18 years ago, my twice-a-year time with Dr. Salko consists of him wearing his microscopic glasses, poking around a couple places, and telling me that my teeth are looking great.

If you need documents sent over, ask for them before you pay. This office doesn't communicate its requirements at all to new patients. I don't recommend coming here whatsoever.

My experience was horrible. Dr. Wayne Barker did not discuss a treatment plan with me. I had a…read morefractured tooth which needed to be extracted. I told him that I was unsure if I wanted a dental implant or a partial plate due to my age, 70. I told him that I had contraindications for a bone graft due to psoriatic issues, an infection in my jaw and osteoarthritis. He said if I did not get a bone graft immediately, then I would limit options later for an implant. I felt bullied into a procedure I really was unsure about. I asked for gas and he said that would delay the process and he did not have time to do this. During the extraction, he broke a healthy tooth and never apologized. I was told I would get a partial plate 3 weeks after Dr. Barker damaged a healthy tooth and this did not occur. When I expressed my concern, he said I can't control what the front desk tells you. When I asked him what his plan was to replace my extracted tooth and the tooth he broke, he said he wasn't sure. He said I might give you 3 implants and a bridge. This dental clinic has a contract with the Veterans Administration and I believe Dr. Barker tried to maximize monetary gains while delivering less than minimally acceptable dentistry practices. They follow up multiple times to confirm appt or check how you were doing. Pricing is very transparent and affordable with financing options. After my husband and I both had deep cleaning and x-ray, I had to take out all my wisdom teeth. Although the recovery was painful, the doctor and assistant provided excellent care by answering my questions, scheduling emergency visits and providing prescriptions.
