STILL DIGGING DIG!
[note: I do trade work (cleaning) for classes/training @ Dig for the past month, but believe I would have written the same review even if I weren't doing this.]
I've been going to Dig Yoga for a little over 2 years and I really enjoy it! I feel so lucky to live near this studio!
As a busy mom - unhappy with being on the heavy side of normal weight and having done little to stay fit (besides housework) for many years - I was in the market for a place in or near Lambertville to try yoga.
A friend told me about Dig, so that's where I took my first class called "Basics," on a Saturday morning.
It was definitely quite a workout!...and I would have left with the impression that everyone but me knew what they were doing and was in better shape than me had it not been for my friend who encouraged me to only do what I felt comfortable doing and to copy what everyone else was doing (which are both routinely encouraged by the instructors), and to try different classes and instructors at Dig in order to find a good match.
Weekend classes tend to be alarmingly large to the newcomer. And "Basics" on the weekend is not like "Basics" or even "Mixed Level" classes during the week. On weekends, you will be among many of the serious regulars who come more than once a week...as well as 1st timers, beginners, folks nursing injuries, and everything in between...a wide range. You can get individual help in these larger classes. The instructors and other classmates do seem to keep an eye out for new/newer faces and usually give extra attention where needed. But some days it must be a daunting task to attend to everyone's needs.
On weekdays and weekday evenings, classes tend to be smaller, giving the various instructors more time to focus on individual needs.
Over time, I have personally found that all of the instructors at Dig are highly dedicated and knowledgeable and that each teaches a little differently...allowing me to understand different facets of achieving poses and understand what I might improve upon to eliminate pain in (or after) a pose or make a pose easier to do.
I'm not sure there were "Beginner" classes when I started going to Dig, but there seem to be some now...which might be helpful to people just starting out with yoga.
In addition to yoga classes, I've also attended some special programs and workshops at Dig and have found these to be of high quality and personally enlightening!
Two plus years later...29 pounds lighter (of course not just due to yoga)...this might sound cliché, but...feeling better/more connected... to mind, body, and spirit...I'm still digging Dig! For me, it's been life changing!
