I met with Stefano who was kind enough to spend a few moments with me talking about the pics on the walls inside the business depicting members of our military holding their product while deployed around the world. I fully support our US military veterans in any way possible and this business now will have my patronage for life!!! The bread they make and use to wrap these little flavorful gems is soft, chewy and wonderful. As mentioned I tried several different options and they were all excellent, which I would say would be my only negative comment, because how the heck can I make a choice in the future??? LOL, all kidding aside, the staff was super friendly and welcoming and I can't wait to return to give this outstanding business more of my patronage. This is a family owned business and the caring and dedication are proven with each and every bite. Thank you all so much for the great items you create and all that you do to support our men and women in uniform serving our country that in turn give ALL of us the freedoms and liberties that so many take for granted. I look forward to all of my future business and a big shout out to Chow Down Detroit for making me aware of this gem!!! Cheers to all of you at Baffo's, keep doing what you're doing, over 30 years in business proves you're doing everything right!!!!

I was so confused when I first saw the reviews for this place: tacos, paczki, and mainly what…read moreseemed to be European style cookies and baked goods at a place called a Mexican Bakery? Imagine my skepticism. Well, rest assured, Vinewood Mexican Bakery does indeed sell typical panaderia fare as well. Conchas, marranito, fruit-filled empanadas, and all sorts of other pan dulce and treats. They have a small section on the countertop where they sell bagged day old bread, four for $2. You can't beat that price. We picked up some conchas from this section. Is it the best concha I've ever had? No, but it's light and airy, slightly sweet with a crumbly cookie top, and most importantly, extremely affordable. What more could you ask for? Also - as a side note, the tacos are sold at the El Bigotes that's connected to Vinewood, not actually at Vinewood!

He also mentioned pepperoni rolls, which I haven't had in a long time and Is pretty popular among folks in the Detroit area! The lady at the counter was fantastic with her Midwest welcoming approach! I order a loaf of fresh baked Italian bread along 3 pepperoni rolls. Counter lady mentioned to heat one up with cheese to eat on the spot! Which I did! Bread was soft and so tasty, reminds me of Cuban bread of south Florida. The warm pepperoni inside with melted mozzarella of the pepperoni roll hit the spot! I know why they are so popular now! All day!!! Tried a slice of the Italian bread too. Exactly how I figured it would taste but much better than any store bought! Places like this should always be around to create these great memories of good food!

Jack's Italian Bakery is very recognizable off the street with the Italian flag colors on full…read moredisplay. The interior of the bakery is quite small - it only has enough space inside for a couple of customers. There are several small display cases with a small amount of various cookies and strudels, and one hot case with $1.75 slices of pizza. To be honest, the sweets and pizza don't seem to be very high volume, so I only went for their famous pepperoni roll. Double/Double Pepperoni Roll ($5) - Wow this thing is massive! Basically a huge 8 inch sub filled over the brim (literally - there were cheese shreds flying all over the bag) with pepperoni and shredded cheese. They offered to heat it up for me in the store, but I elected to take it home cold and heat up later. This thing barely fit in my toaster oven. Fluffy bread with salty and slightly spicy pepperoni and melty mozzerella. I ate a little over half and was pretty full. Delicious and cheap - what else could you ask from a pepperoni roll? You definitely can't go wrong with Jack's for the pepperoni rolls.
