They finished an expansion this last fall that allowed them to expand space for large board game tournaments and swaps. Really love the board game library free to play from as well. Plenty of space to bring friends and hang out. The friendly cashier mentioned that they are working on a partnership with the local Whimsy Tea Company to serve their DnD themed teas in the shop while folks are playing. This shop has almost everything you could want in the way of games, supplies and figurines and all at great prices. Games are sold at or below MSRP which makes the choice easy to support them. Stuff on Amazon is rarely cheaper. We bought a small card game for some friends and went on our way, but this shop will always be a stop for us while we are in Springfield.

And yes they were open the day I called because I took the time to drive there and they were open just not answering the phones. I partake in Magic pre-releases here. I have been coming here for a long time, actually. Back when I first got into Magic and his store was located in Creve Coeur, IL. Moving on. The Zone offers a wide variety of products. From comics, posters, figures/toys, trading cards (singles and sealed), Ultra Pro products, sleeves, and other odds/ends. I have played 3 Magic pre-releases there (so far) and the store owner, Scott, has been great at hosting it each time. He even helped me set up my DCI account right before the pre-release tournament was about to start. You can pretty much throw any random question at Scott and he will have some knowledge about it and can help you out. Overall, a great store to visit if you need your Magic/comics/toys fix. Plus, Maurie's Candies is right across the street! :3

I have donated a LOT of things to the Mission in the past and was always met with kindness and…read morethanks. Apparently there are now new owners or at least workers. The last time I was greeted by an elderly man who was very rude as he told me he only wanted clothes as the homeless didn't need anything else. Previously the blankets, food items (as requested in their website), drinks, and even craft items were very welcome. Clients would meet there and participate in crafting, card games, etc. If in fact ownership has changed it is a real shame for those who need such things. Whatever the reason or the changes there is certainly no reason to be rude. I will find someplace else to donate from now on.
