Determined, I've set out on a daily walking routine only to be set back by some potentially dangerous foot issues (diabetic ulcerations due to poorly fitting shoes) ... Realizing I was not going to find what I needed in my immediate (rural) area, I set out to find specialty shoe stores. I was happy to learn of The Runner's Loft here on Yelp, and the reviews were extremely helpful. (***wishing more people would take the time to write reviews for this business...they deserve it***) As it had been a while since the last review was submitted, I phoned before hitting the road (this was going to be about 200 miles, round trip, for me) and was assisted by the owner, Scott. I expressed to him my needs and health concerns, and he assured me that he and his staff would be more than happy to assist, including being able to complete a walking assessment on a treadmill, which is filmed and reviewed by staff so they can look for potential issues with how you perform (walking/running) in your current footwear. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Stephanie who was attentive to my needs, empathetic to my health concerns, and set right to work getting me on the treadmill for my assessment. Once video footage of my treadmill walk was completed, Stephanie reviewed the footage with another staff member, Jack, and they also inspected the soles of the shoes I had been using for my daily walks, noticing that I do, indeed, rotate my feet in, which had worn down the inside of the heel of the sole. It was also determined that I needed more toe box space to alleviate the pressure on my toes that had contributed to the ulcer, necessitating my changing from a woman's shoe to a man's shoe, as they tend to have more space in the toe box. Stephanie and Jack had me perform a few more walking exercises for them; barefoot, and with some init selections of shoes. Observations we're made, and more shoes retrieved from the basement to try.... and, after several test runs, the perfect pair was decided upon! Not once did Stephanie or Jack balk at the prospect of getting yet another pair from the basement storehouse... not once did they become discouraged as I found fault with one shoe fit after another. Not once did I feel any judgement. They were both kind, empathetic to my needs, and professional. Also, I never felt pressured to buy this expensive shoe over that expensive shoe, etc. No pressure sales; I like that! I ended up with a well-fitting shoe, mid-price range, a store discount applied (without asking) and free shipping to my home address once my order arrives in store. ***that's my only negative...I loved the shoes SO much, I wanted to wear them out of the store! But, they were a special order to be placed just for me, so I get it All in all, a wonderful experience. I will be a repeat customer, and will be bringing my husband in for his walking analysis and a new pair of shoes soon! Keep up the great work, team!

This is a newer Maurices location right near the Target over near this new shopping district. It's…read morea pretty large store, and it offers a shoe area, multiple dressing rooms, a plus-sized area, and a regularly-sized area. It's bigger than most mall Maurice locations that I've seen. Maurices sizing goes from a size 0 all the way up to a size 24. Their plus-sized selection is smaller (about 1/4 of the store) compared to the regular sizes, but it's still quite a bit of clothing. Staff is really what makes this store. Staff is helpful without being pushy. They happily will open a fitting room for you, and they occasionally will check in and ask if they can help you find items. Lots of other people were taking advantage of that, and staff was helping them put together great outfits by making suggestions. They are really good about regularly using your name and making you feel like a valued customer. I was looking for a scarf in a different color, and the staff was really helpful. They looked it up on their own system, double-checked throughout the whole store when the system said they didn't have it, and then offered to call down to the Waterloo location and see if they had one for me. The entire experience was very friendly, and I always got the feeling that the staff genuinely was having an okay time working there and wanted to help. Price can be a bit high depending on the items. I'd recommend trying to take advantage of their sales; they regularly have discounts or "Buy One, Get One ___" sales which help lower the prices. They also offer a free rewards program that gives you a $5 credit for every $100 you spend, so that will you save a bit more money. Finding specific items can be a bit difficult, though, so you may need to ask for help. For example, their scarves are placed in multiple areas throughout the entire store, so it can make it hard to compare all scarves at once. However, with such helpful staff, it really isn't too hard to eventually find what you're looking for. Maurices has nice clothing, but what really makes this store is the staff. This is probably one of the best customer service experiences that I've had in awhile.

Thank you for not forgetting the big girls! They have plenty of selection in casual and dressy options. My one complaint is in the summer there are way too many sleeveless options and not enough short sleeve selection. I'm not allowed to wear sleeveless at work. They always have ample friendly staff ready to assist and get you a dressing room. The store is always clean and well stocked.

Went to the store the other day instead of buying online as I needed a new outfit. I walked in with an oversized hoodie and jeans on that had a tare in the knee and dry paint on them and spackles of paint on my hands that I didn't get off. They didn't treat me any different than the ones that were way more presentable. As I let her know what I was looking for she got me the right size without asking I use to be a 44 and down to a 31 in jeans. As I was trying on multiple jeans that I wanted again without telling her she found me multiple shirts that fit my liking. I walked out spending more then I wanted but again felt like I was the same as anyone else walking in the store as someone getting ready to go shopping at Walmart.

Then their are the few that follow your every move through the store and take suggestive selling to a whole other level. I worked with Kadie...who was super friendly and actually listened to what I was looking for. She pieced several outfits out for me, but wasn't overly pushy. Then a couple weeks later in the mail, I received a thank-you note. That alone will make me go back, and I'll request Kadie every time. I almost threw in the towel on this store, but its amazing how one person can change your whole perception.
