This is one of the best sports shops around in the South Plainfield area. You get any sports item you are looking for, rather American sports item you are looking for (they don't sell Cricket bats or balls here). They sell quality items at a good price here. They aren't too expensive but aren't cheap too. They always keep their shelves stocked well and I personally haven't run into a situation not finding what I came in for. We have got table tennis bats, balls and few sports wears here and haven't had any complaints so far. Most of the time chains like these set a standard and only thing that can stick out like a sore thumb is customer service. This DICKs doesn't have that problem, luckily. read more

Best shop for various sporting equipments - basketball, soccer , tennis , cycling , etc etc name it .. it's a hugeeee shop and I always love the space they have . Not much of offers though. Mostly retail price . Went to buy a basket ball today and they had amazing quality balls . They also sell north face and other famous brands . Billing was quick today . Customer service was good. NEVER EVER buy anything from Dicks Sporting Goods that requires delivery. They use an external provider called AIT Worldwide Logistics, which is the worst (non)delivery service I have ever seen in my life! At the beginning of May we brought a treadmill with delivery and assembly. We scheduled a date while at the store. The day before delivery, AIT texted they could not deliver and randomly picked a new date with at 12 hour delivery window! Trying to get them on the phone for a new date was a nightmare. After being canceled again, and being given another date that would not work, I called the store and talked with Hailey. She promised to have AIT call me. After a few days, I called Dicks and again spoke with Hailey; she said AIT should have contacted me. I said no one has called me, I cannot get AIT to commit, I want a full refund. She then told me I would have to go into the store. I said I am not wasting my time going back into your store. Everyone in the world processes refunds on-line. She finally said she processed the refund. Then this morning, I got a text from AIT that they are delivering the item! I called them back and tried to explain. They said they were transferring me to dispatch, after being on hold for 10 minutes, I hung up. When I called them back again, he told me that the driver was on his way and would be there in 10 minutes. I made them cancel the delivery and called the store back AGAIN! This is the worst delivery experience of my life. BTW...I just received a survey from AIT, because they strive to provide excellent service. You can guess how I responded. read more

Gotta start with how happy I am with Ian's knowledge and customer service in the shoes department. I came with a friend to buy some shoes and THOUGHT I knew my shoe size. He asked me a few questions and suggested a sizing. I'm so glad he did, I was able to get the shoes that was sold out in the size I thought I wore and walked out ordering the exact pair I wanted. He also helped me stay within my budget. I explained to him my occupation and he had so much information that helped me understand my feet problems. During my search for a bicycle to use on road and on trails, we found a nishiki tamarack bicycle which has 21 speeds, front suspension and seat spring to add a little cushion to your behind. Very comfy and very happy with the purchase. The handle bars and frame provides the rider a more comfortable position versus hunching over. Definitely recommend dicks since they purchased the nishiki brand. Store was clean and well organized but everyone at the store was kinda just not friendly. I mean they were all doing their jobs but I felt like I was a hassle to them for making a $250 purchase. Josh in the bike department was very knowledgeable with providing us details on all the bikes and providing us with what we needed. He just wasn't so upbeat I guess, maybe it was the end of his shift or his back hurt, since he blurted out he needed to call someone to take a bike down from the ceiling. Also the seat cushion had a little dent in it. We asked for 10% off and the manager honored it. read more

This store makes me miss mom and pop stores for multiple reasons. 1. Lack of specialty equipment, the store focuses on sportswear more than it does sports equipment. 2. Lack of knowledge from employees. All a question and none seems to know.... that is, if you can find one. 3. Very expensive. Almost everything I've bought here , I found cheaper online. I just purchased out of convenience. I wish this store packed more sourcing items for each sport instead of covid on the clothes. We have Macy's for that. Is also like to see employees in each department who actually know the gear they sell. read more

Beyond disappointed with there customer service. I was having an issue with my bike and clearly it was the manufactures problem. The crank was hitting the frame. So I brought it in. Josh told me to order the part and bring it in when the part arrived because he can't order parts d For some reason. So I do that and the part comes in and it's wrong. So I call him up he tells me to bring it in and he will take one off another bike. He does that and it's still not working right. He proceeds to tell me that it will be a return, but I had some stuff to take off the bike. So I brought it home took it off and then went back. During this whole process I told him I bought this bike last Father's Day in 2018. And when all this was going on Father's Day was in a week. So he knew it was a year old. So I bring the bike back after taking my stuff off and they tell me they can't return it. And the manager gets involved and tells me they can set a repair up that I can pay for and blah blah blah. In the mean time josh wasted my time going back and forth. And he told me it could be returned. I even told him about 5 times, during this 2 week ordeal, that I've had the bike for a year. So I took the bike home and called corporate and low and behold the next day the manager is calling me up to tell me they can take it as a return. Wasted three weeks dealing with this issue and couldn't ride. And no one there knows anything about bikes or how their returns work! If you go there don't ask for josh. read more

I can't speak about the store as a whole, but I was super impressed when I went to the sneaker department and a friendly salesperson appeared! (I thought they were extinct!) Ian was helpful and incredibly knowledgeable about the different brands and their pros and cons, and also about feet, walking, everything you'd need to know. The pair I finally settled on are comfortable and just what I needed for lots of walking. Great shopping experience. read more

Let me say I bought a bike. Love the bike, but the customer service was non existent! I never had anyone ask if I needed help. I picked out the bike by reading online information. No one was interested or asked if I needed anything. I took bikes down from the bike racks. Looked them over myself. Went home did my research and ordered one. Picked it up a few days later. Even as I left the store four employees were loading a huge box onto a truck. Not one of them asked if I ( a lady in my 60s) needed help loading it into my car! As more small stores fail due to Covid, this may be the norm. read more

Always helpful whenever I stop by. Huge selection that almost all Dicks have. And it is kept clean and well organized. I mainly go for the Fishing Department which is huge. The staff is knowledgeable and can almost always answer any questions I may have. Getting a fishing license is quick and easy which isn't always true for other stores. Highly recommend. I'd like to give a good review to this location for the outstanding service they gave me compared to the east Brunswick location. I know no store likes to take returns but I am loyal customer to this company and did not have a good experience at a different location. Chris, a manager was able to come outside look at the kayak in the bed of my truck, returned it (it would not fit in my basement) and even got some help unloading it. read more

I wasted my entire lunch break trying to obtain a hunting a fishing license only at the end to have my transaction cancelled due to the total and utter incompetence of the people working the desk. Just visited this location for the third and last time. Second time visiting, associates to assist in clothing were not helpful and borderline rude. I thought maybe this was a one off as my first visit here about a year prior was about average - not bad, not good, but pretty much expected service from a chain retailer. On my visit today I picked out a couple of golf shirts that were clearly signed "buy one get one free"; they came up as almost full price at checkout. I showed the cashier wear I got the shirts and he called over a floor manager; she mumbled as she approached that she was going to take the signs down. She then explained that the shirts I picked up were on clearance and priced differently. I pointed out that none of the shirts on that rack were noted as clearance and there were multiple signs over other racks with exactly the same shirt that stated "buy one get one free". She refused to honor the signage even though she appeared to know in advance the signage was a problem, but that the signs were in place. I've worked in retail management before, and any reputable store would have honored the pricing they had indicated. read more

almost same as ruth m says about a bike. i wanted to see if i fit on the one on second tier of bikes. but seemed like the guy wasn't allowed to get one down. altho the place is very clean and organized - it was probably too hard for him to do. not complaining about the employee, just wonder why the store would have bikes up high where you couldn't try to size yourself with them. so i left without purchasing a step thru bike that i really wanted - possibly a nishiki. read more
