Brand new! Friendly and helpful staff. It was pretty mellow when we visited (Sunday afternoon). Located inside the Gates of Prosper and right next to Wal-Mart. Nothing over the top just the same selection you can find at any other Dick's Sports store. Glad to see friendly smiles on the staff, hoping they stay that way all the way thru and not just because they are brand new.

False Advertising and don't trust this store

Great Looking store but they don't honor their in store sales signs if it doesn't ring up as that already... Don't shop here and skip this store... spent $100 here on Cowboys related items, not to get the 25% discount that was posted on their racks of Cowboys Related items... I even bought it in the timeframe that the date on this sales says

It's a whole attraction in itself!…read more Walking into the Scheels at Grandscape felt less like "running errands" and more like entering a Texas-sized amusement park that also sells everything you could ever need. This place is huge--two floors of sporting goods wonderland with a giant fish tank arch on the first floor! There are tons of Texas and Dallas Cowboys-themed photo ops, a literal Ferris wheel inside the store, and a massive café with food options, beef jerky bar, and tons of fudge and candied nuts. Bonus points for the staff--everyone I came across was genuinely kind, helpful, and seemed genuinely happy to be there :)

After waiting for 20 minutes with my drivers license, credit card and social security card visibly in my hand I had a lady cut me off in line. Man behind the counter sees it, I let it slide...and then when she's done the cashier takes another guy who had been there 30 seconds. Now I am pissed, but also fascinated at the incompetence I am witnessing. Out of boredom and curiosity I wait for the bald dilbert at the other cashier station to finally finish checking someone out, after 25 minutes, so I step forward. 3-4 minutes go by and he doesn't acknowledge my presence. Then he calls out the name of someone without even looking at me and proceeds to get into a lengthy conversation and I am back at square 1. 30 minutes, made it to the front, no acknowledgment of my existence. All of you people are not qualified to take change at a toll road. The savings on the firearms does not make up for the nonexistent customer service and lack of common sense that is hovering over this entire department. All of you suck at life.

I took by boat in to get a new fish finder installed I purchased from them. I get it back and the…read moreboat is damaged. Unfortunately, I didn't see it during pickup nor was I really looking. I stopped 15 minutes down the road to fuel the boat up and noticed where they ran something into the bump rail one the front of the boat. It ripped the rail, cracked the fiberglass, etc. I called them immediately and they started a review process. They supposedly looked at all their camera footage and said nope, we didn't do it. ABSOLUTE BS. I'm sure they get people blaming them for stuff they didn't do but I am not one of those people. Now I am stuck with getting it repaired myself. If they have footage of every minute the boat was there, they would see it happened there. As a side note, you couldn't damage the boat while it was on my truck with where the damage was. It has to be disconnected from the vehicle for this damage to happen. Oh, also, the boat had greasy hand prints on it. In itself, not a big deal but when you consider that, and arguing with me, they do not care about their customers. I am cancelling my Cabela's card and will never shop their again. I will also warn everyone I know of this type of service. DO NOT SHOP AT CABELAS.....

I bought a bike for my son's birthday online for in-store pick up. It said it would be ready…read morewithin an hour so we went to pick up the bike at this location. Here we met Serenity, who was rude, unhelpful and unempathetic. First I asked if someone can help me to put the bike into my car. She said no because it was not a curbside pick up. I told her I'm a woman with a child, I need help with putting the bike to the car. She said let her ask someone. This would be the very first store who would not help a customer upload a large item! She later reluctantly said someone may help me upload but they are not required. When I showed her my order number on my phone and she said, "Can you read the number to me?" Then she told me because I just placed the order, the bike was not assembled. I asked why the website said it would be ready within an hour. She said she didn't know. So I said to her I would be back tomorrow to pick up the bike. She said our bike won't be ready until Wednesday (today is Friday, so it turned from a "Ready within an hour" to 5 days in store pick up.) Finally I told her to cancel my order as my son and myself were just disappointed from this experience. She said you can do that yourself online. This is the worst customer service representative I have ever met!

One of the worst retail experiences I've ever had…read more I came into this Academy location to return a pair of boots I had purchased and worn once on a job site during my internship. I had the original receipt, and I was still within the 60-day return window. The boots caused serious discomfort -- cold sores on my feet -- and I explained that they had performance issues. At first, customer service said they couldn't take them back because they "looked worn." So I left. But after reviewing Academy's return policy (which allows for returns due to discomfort or poor performance), I came back to explain. The customer service advisor was polite and told me they just needed manager approval. That's when Karla Flores, a manager, came out and completely dismissed me. She didn't say hello, didn't listen, and immediately claimed the boots were "worn several times" and that she wouldn't accept the return. I tried to explain the performance issues and that I had only worn them once, but she kept raising her voice, rolling her eyes, and even called me a liar in front of other employees and customers. Another employee, Faith, was brought over to support her judgment, even though there was only some dust on the soles. When I calmly showed them the return policy and explained my situation again, I was completely dismissed. The way Karla spoke to me was rude, demeaning, and completely unprofessional -- especially for someone in a leadership role. Eventually, another manager named Trey stepped in and handled the return professionally and with respect. He listened to me, treated me like a person, and processed the return without any issue. I'm grateful for him -- but the experience with Karla was unacceptable. No customer deserves to be spoken to like that, regardless of the situation. I hope this store seriously reconsiders who they place in leadership roles.

So, it was a big step for me to try again, and I'm glad I did. Almost immediately upon entering the store I had an associate approach me asking if I needed any help. When she saw me at the discounted bras she asked me if I needed a quick sizing. This was helpful as I've lost a few pounds, prompting the trip in the first place. I chose some bras, headed back to the fitting room, and back out again to check out other items. During this time she did check on me a couple of times but she wasn't intrusive or pushy. When I was ready to check out, the same nice young lady came to assist me. She noticed that I didn't have either of the bras that I had tried on. I explained to her what their issues were and she actually listened. She could sense that I was there for a deal and offered me a different style at the same price point as the ones that were on sale. She went back to find it in my size and added it to my transaction for me. What a great sales lady! If I was still in recruiting, I'd be trying to get her on my team. She did such a great job. I wish I had caught her name. But I'm sure I'll see her again soon.
