I came here with a jeweler friend to see what they would offer for a diamond ring I had. I know what was paid for the ring and the value when it was bought over a decade ago. It has a gold band and almost 2k diamond. Also the value of diamonds has rose over 30% over the last decade. They offered me $350 for it. My Jeweler friend laughed and encouraged me to walk out. The handgun I purchased was unsafe. It would not fully engage the thumb safety on the 1911. When it did seem to engage, halfway, it would fire. No way to make it safe. Broke it down to clean it only to find rust and the palm safety grip spring worn. They offered to have a gunsmith take care of the problem, only to get it back in the same condition. Any reputable armorer would have spotted these problems without being told. Tried the miscommunication act as to why it is still not right. Had enough, take my business elsewhere and every person I see, know, and meet to tell them about 501 dickhead pawns. Nobody there who gives a flying f... Hardly anybody on the floor or behind the counter. It's like a ghost town. OH, by the way, I have fixed all the problems myself. What is written on the website is not what is followed in store. After spending $13k in this store, we came back to pick up 2 items from layaway, the salesperson said if we bought something today, we would get free layaway for the first month. Per the website, "Take advantage of our layaway to layaway plan! Pay out a layaway and we'll make the first payment on a new layaway that same day!" -- We picked out 3 items we were interested in purchasing and said we would like to take advantage of the free layaway for the first month. We were told by the manager that they take 10% off which is like one month free. We said ok then we are interested in a bracelet, to which we were told oh well the free layaway is only if it is under $1k. We said ok well we are also interested in a ring that was approximately $931 to which the reply was oh well it won't work on that either as it is already on sale. Just felt sketchy that the do not honor their own policies and kept adding qualifiers for each item we looked at. So instead of buying the over $5k in merchandise we picked out, we walked away empty handed. read more

My first pawn shop experience. While staff were friendly and helpful, and I could be wrong, but the prices seemed too high for some of the items. It's hard for me to compare because I'm not well versed in pawn shops but I wasn't impressed. Maybe I watched too many Pawn Stars or Hardcore Pawn to know how the real world works. Will we be back? Possibly fakes, the internet full of complaints on the brands they carry and they don't even open the packages to check authenticity. . Which according to the internet, is number one way counterfeiters get away with it.. They gold plate a piece of tungsten.. They have sophisticated to the point they produce super authentic looking bars, but, it's the sealed, serial numbered packaging that people don't even want to open, but that's their mistake.. I stopped into Dick's Pawn North on 2/4/2023 to check on a price for some old gold necklaces, a ring and a small amount of silver. I wish I could remember the salesman's man because he was a lying, cheating P.O.S.! He weighted out the gold pieces and just kept saying this is all scrap gold like it made a difference. Bottom line he offered $450 for the lot and wanted to write it up and I told him I wanted to check a few more places before making a decision not knowing if the $450 was a good price or not. Well went to one other location Friendly Pawn 2115 S. Hwy 17 Murrells Inlet, SC to get another quote. They again weighed it, checked the quality of the gold content and I was offered $950.....Ummmmm, that more than twice the amount the thief at Dick's Pawn offered! My advice, stay the hell away from this place or if nothing else get a quote, then go to Friendly Pawn and feel really good about yourself that you didn't take THE DICK"S offer! I can't even write this off as a mistake or a missed button on the calculator, that A-hole was "STEALING" from me and padding his own pocket! AGAIN, STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A FAIR SHAKE BECAUSE YOU WILL END UP GRABBING YOUR ANKLES AND GETTING IT BACKSIDE IF YOU STICK WITH THESE CLOWNS! It's a pawn shop, so it's full of overpriced crap. The jewelry room is always worth a browse. Can be hard to get someone to help you, because they always seem to be understaffed. Of the area locations it's probably the smallest. The staff is helpful though not always as knowledgable as they need to be sometimes. I've gotten two nice kayaks, surfboards, and some very unique musical instruments out of this store at exceptional fair prices. I also found some very-very high end camera lenses in this location. If you know what you're looking at and you know what it's worth then very fair deals are here to be had. read more

Went there as my first stop to find a possible new firearm. Little did I know that they suck for prices. Here is what I mean without going into to much detail. I was trying to find firearm A. It goes for 380 new at most places. Figured finding it used at a pawn store it would be cheaper..... Hahahahaha, they were asking 460 used....... What a rip. And let's not get started on the staff who seem to try and get only turnover. I mean I know they are there to make money, but you could make alot more if you where only nice to the people that walked into the door. I went in last week and looked at some items. I wanted a high priced item but I picked out two smaller items just to see how they operate. I asked for an OTD price on a $149 item and a $99 item. They offered $145 and $99. It was late in the day so I came back the next morning and asked about the item for $145. It had been repriced to $179. The manager came out and laughed at me and said that he decided to reprice it. He acted like a real jerk which is what I wanted to know about the place. I found the item that I really wanted just down the street for $450 less than his price. He just lost me as a customer as far as I am concerned. I got the last laugh on him! read more

First experience for us in Pawn shop. "interesting people" - a bit scary actually. Jewellery Department was a treat. Surprised to eye loads of decent jewellery but also serious JUNK off street trinkets. We did find a great few items to take home and share with our loves. But, had to haggle with pony tailed Manager that thought he was real humorous but he was NOT - very loud and obnoxious really showed no real indication of any knowledge whatsoever. Maybe humour was mistaken by our group. Maybe?! Older woman with long reddish hair assisted. Definitely keen on her knowledge, but have a thought that she would not guilt over selling you a pebble off alley with "certain value" her very syrupy "southern charm" was her Tell. Had a great chat with the Master Jeweller - very kind nice passionate and definitely confident in his trade. Very charming (and not hard on our eyes -wink wink). Very busy when we visited in early Summer. Should consider providing additional qualified persons to assist in jewellery. Our men did find rest of store interesting, but not too much for stocking - found shelves barren. Before you visit learn your prices. My Partner believed gun prices to be a tad costly for used armoury. As we also found Rolex prices high for condition and age and lack of choices. Can find many places in Europe or at reputable jeweller for much lesser price. Appears most persons in establishment assisting had no care and not truly knowledgeable but most surely would sell anything for a high price undoubtedly . Just watch for yourself and you will be kindly happy. Overall, not a terrible experience. Learned of other locations visited Northern Myrtle shop as well. Very very keen blond woman working in jewellery but a tad too much push in her person for us to be serious. Overall we were more taken by the smaller quaint shop in Surfside Beach area . . read more

Apparently your employees enjoy telling customers that they will give them a pawn loan on a phone, make them drive all the way home to get the item and their ID, only to turn them away and say "Sorry can't do it now." I work in high volume retail and we would never treat a customer like that. You clearly advertise on your website you take phones. What such false advertising. read more

Wanted to buy a rifle at theJoe White location, but one employee took a break to chat with a guy picking up his pawned items, another checked out a guy who was going to buy an amplifier for his car and came to the counter after I had been waiting, and the manager on duty talked passed me to a guy waiing behind me wanting to pawn a laptop.
