    Twinkled cone!! So good!!
    David C.

The daughter took me here on her last night living in the area. Apparently she had been holding out on me for two years.. Just had ice cream as we had visited a local pizza place for dinner. It was all very good. I choose to have my ice cream cone "twinkled". I highly recommend, and if you get a glimpse of the secret twinkle machine where the twinkle magic happens, it is very interesting. I would love to know what is in twinkle, but am guessing the recipe is a closely held secret. If I am ever within 100 miles of Dick's I will be back! It would be worth the trip.

This was a fun place to stop. Good burger and malt shop. They don't have any indoor seating but there are some nice picnic tables in the back. We would definitely go back

    Classic drive in.

Good food and great ice cream for the money. Best of all is that it's within walking distance. Really wish they were open all year round.

Simply the best food and ice cream in Kaukauna! The outdoor eating brings you back to the good old days, picnic tables and all.

I have grown up looking forward to spring so they would open their doors. We go here for quick comfort food and amazing malts.

I'm happy to say it absolutely did. I ordered the OK Smash Burger, and it was excellent. The burger had a rich, buttery finish that practically melted in your mouth. While it wasn't packed with bold, over-the-top flavors, it didn't need to be. It was simply a well-executed smash burger made with quality ingredients, and sometimes that's exactly what you're looking for. The real standout, though, was the smoked fried wings. They stole the show. The dry rub was incredibly flavorful, with just the right balance of seasoning, and every bite had that perfect combination of smoky, crispy, and juicy. I'd come back for the wings alone. I also paired everything with one of their cider beers, which was refreshing and complemented the meal perfectly. I stopped in during happy hour and grabbed a seat at the bar, where the service was attentive, friendly, and made for a relaxed experience from start to finish. The ambiance tied everything together. The restaurant has a warm, dimly lit interior with a rustic smokehouse feel that immediately sets the mood. It's the kind of place where you can settle in, enjoy a drink, and take your time with the meal. Overall, Mill City Public House exceeded my expectations. Between the quality smash burger, phenomenal smoked wings, great drinks, inviting atmosphere, and welcoming service, it's an easy recommendation. If you're in the Appleton area, this spot is definitely worth checking out.

One of our party forgot his ID and although everyone, including the waiter, agreed he was clearly of age, it's a house rule apparently that ID must be present. No big deal. Rest of our drinks arrive and we let him have a sip to try because the cocktails were decent. The waiter saw and screamed at him before waddling away to tattle on us to the manager. The other staff stared in horror but also in a way that said this wasn't the first time this guy lost it. Even the manager looked so embarrassed he had to deal with it. Manager started to say he would let us stay when the waiter screamed no and yanked our card from us. It was so pathetic watching a grown man in his 40s throw a huge tantrum. Manager intervened by taking the card away from the waiter and comped everything we had ordered while the waiter was pouting and sulking next to him. We suspect the waiter was homophobic because the reaction was so absurd and unnecessary that it has to be either homophobia and/or a mental health problem. Our friends swear their city is lovely but also acknowledge what happened could have been hate-motivated and they're sad that this just reinforced what many people think about small town Wisconsin. We went to a nearby establishment where we were treated like humans (and they served us clearly upper 30s men without having to check our IDs). On the plus side, we tip very well and are glad this waiter is not going home with an extra $100. Hopefully this restaurant knows what they need to do with this unstable staff member for the safety and comfort of their diners and other staff.

In November 2025 the burger special was the Apple Butter Badger burger, which was a 1/3 pound patty topped with smashed fried cheese curds, sliced apples, apple butter, and wonton strips on a salted pretzel bun. My family and I stopped for dinner so I could give it a try. In addition to the burger I got tater tots. While I don't mind mixing savory and sweet in combos I'm not used to, like having apple on a burger, this particular burger was fine to try once but it's probably not something I'd get again. The apple didn't stand out until the last couple of bites when all I had left was the middle (I eat around the middle first). The wonton strips seemed unnecessary and I would have preferred the pretzel bun without the salt on top. The apple butter was great and stood out in every bite. The tater tots may have been the crunchiest I've ever had and, as someone that has crunch as their favorite food texture, I thoroughly enjoyed them. My wife got the PB&J burger with strawberry jelly and no jalapenos. One kid for the regular Badger burger and the other got just a plain cheeseburger. They also had fries for their side. All of them liked their meals and said they'd get them again. Prices seem super reasonable compared to most other restaurants. The bar area and tables were mostly full, yet our food came out reasonably quick, which was appreciated. Home Burger Bar is a place I'd keep coming back to.
