I arrived 45 minutes early yet I was not seen until 15 minutes after my appointment. While the waiting room is very spacious and clean, I do not see a reason for such a long wait as the office was not very crowded with patients. While it was impressive that she was able to use that kind of equipment, the measurements were not the most accurate. There must be some disorganization because some of my measurements were recorded inaccurately in the report at the end of my visit. I saw Dr. Ana Corteguera, who my parents also usually see. As a first time patient, I expected her to spend some time hearing my medical history but she rushed me through the entire visit. I felt as though she did not really care about my problems and just wanted to get me in and out of there was fast as possible. In fact, I even forgot to talk about something I had been meaning to ask a doctor because of that. Furthermore, instead of discussing treatment and testing options with me, she just chose the one that was the most convenient for her, which of course, happened to be the most expensive costing one for me. I told her that I filled out the form that they sent me via e-mail, and that their office did not tell me to fill out any additional paperwork before coming in. Regardless, she still made it seem like it was my fault. Anyway, when I finally met my PCP, Dr. Luu, it was a complete 180. She was super nice and understanding. She also explained all the tests that I would be having and why I needed them. She also told me what diagnostic/lab tests that I was up to date with, and those I had to schedule an appointment with her for soon. I really like this doctor. Privia Medical Group has an "F" rating with the BBB. I know this I as recently saw a young, very good PA (not an MD) at one of the Core Primary Care offices in Sugar Land, TX. The PA (not MD) was very smart, even excellent. The offices, however, were very old, poorly run & as I looked for the office, I saw a sign (the sign was poster board) that read "Core Primary Care" hand written with marker pointing to the location within the office building where they were located. VERY unprofessional. They asked for a urine sample, which was collected in a paper cup, not a sterile environment. I was shocked that BCBSTX insurance (also VERY expensive insurance) contracted with this company. After seeing the Physician's Assistant, I was told they would take a blood test which was done in the office. One small vial of blood was taken. Before I could see the lab work, I started receiving threatening & demanding text messages from Privia Medical Group, demanding that I pay my lab bill... This was less then 2 days after seeing the PA. What did they charge for drawing one vial of blood? Over $1,000.00. BCBSTX insurance didn't pay a penny for this, though they "negotiated" a deal with Privia Medical Group where I would pay $148.00. That's for lab work done in the office and for one tiny vial of blood. I received so many demanding text messages and emails from Privia Medical - who partners with Core Primary Care - that I knew they would likely destroy my excellent credit if I didn't at least get on a payment plan. I agreed to a payment plan (I didn't want to pay all cash). I took a screenshot of the payment plan which read "2 payments over two months." They charged my card 1/2 immediately and the 2nd 1/2 within 12 hours, NOT the following month. Read Privia Medical's reviews through the Better Business Bureau. I don't know why Core Primary Care partners with Privia Medical, but Privia Medical along with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas are no good. Better to cash pay than use the insurance.. (It's unfortunate that this reflects on the doctors, well, the PAs. I cannot use the insurance, Blue Cross Blue Shield of TX, as I will likely go broke. It's cheaper to NOT have insurance.. ) I received another bill from Privia Medical yesteray. lol.. I already paid them $148.00 for drawing a vial of blood. I will NOT pay another penny. PS: I called Privia Medical Group and they do not answer the phone. I listened to Jazz music for about 30 minutes as I was on hold. I never spoke to a human being so that I could dispute the charges for the very expensive blood test. They also did not reply to my emails.. They will be sued for sure.
