We ordered the queso fundido as an appetizer and were seriously blown away by how good it was! The cheese remained melty and soft the entire time we were eating it which, if you've ever had queso fundido before, you know it can be a race against the clock before it gets hard and difficult to eat. We also shared a pasta dish and a steak - both were cooked perfectly and were delicious. It was so much food! I also must mention that their wine selection was nice and our server and bartender were both knowledgable and able to make a good recommendation for me when I wanted to order a bottle. My boyfriend got a beer and said it was the most perfectly cold beer he'd had in a really long time (which is no easy feat since it was a very hot night). He actually wanted to keep returning just to get an ice cold brewski! All the food we ordered was phenomenal. We started with guacamole for the table (shared between six people) and it was the perfect portion. For brunch I ordered the Tostadas de Borrego (lamb tostadas) and pork belly tostadas with pozole, and every bite was incredible. The lamb meat was super tender and flavorful. The pork belly was flavorful and with the pozole created a nice bite. Definitely adding this spot to my "must go back" list and try more from the menu.

As it is conveniently located in the Miguel Hidalgo park square. It is one on the first resturants that you can visit on the beginning of the Ruta Del Vino. This slower paced town has many hidden gems and this is definitely one of them. Hector is passionate about his hometown and in his resturant showcases many regionally sourced offerings. The wine was all from the Gaudalupe Valley and many of their beer were from Ensenada's Transpenninsular Brewery. The calamari was delicious and the staff was very gracious and accommodating. Its was one of the highlights of my weekend getaway. I loved that I could ask many questions about the area and the owner shared some pearls of wisdom of other places to go and visit while in Tecate.

BF had a couple of beers (cant remember what they were, but i believe it was local), and because i wasn't planning on drinking more (we just got done with a small winery tasting tour), but Chris recommended i try the cocktiel de guayaba, its a bourbon cocktail with guava! It was only 40 pesos and if the owner recommends me.....why would i refuse? we were super hungry so we wanted something light and Chris recommended the pulpo ceviche (100 pesos). My drink was ridiculously tasty as i am a huge guava fan and the bourbon balances the sweetness of the guava with the liquor. the pulpo (octopus) ceviche was wonderful and delicious with just the right portion and served with thin tortilla chips. I decided to take the drive out there, after arriving too early on one attempt I came back to try again and they were open! I met Nate, tending the bar. Nate was awesome. We had a great conversation about all kinds of stuff like Michigan. I had to have him bake me one of their Red Baron pizzas. The place is decorated with all kinds of random quirky stuff, totally my kinda vibe. The pizza was good the beer better and the company the best! Definitely a spot worth making the trek out for!
