A nice friendly, locals' bar. Everyone knows each other, not full of loud, ugly, obnoxious Americanos.

This restaurant is just delightful. Tucked back behind the buildings lining the main street, this…read morespot is like a little garden oasis from the hustle and bustle. A big, beautiful tree was lit up with lights at night and the outdoor seating was comfortable and plentiful. We ordered the queso fundido as an appetizer and were seriously blown away by how good it was! The cheese remained melty and soft the entire time we were eating it which, if you've ever had queso fundido before, you know it can be a race against the clock before it gets hard and difficult to eat. We also shared a pasta dish and a steak - both were cooked perfectly and were delicious. It was so much food! I also must mention that their wine selection was nice and our server and bartender were both knowledgable and able to make a good recommendation for me when I wanted to order a bottle. My boyfriend got a beer and said it was the most perfectly cold beer he'd had in a really long time (which is no easy feat since it was a very hot night). He actually wanted to keep returning just to get an ice cold brewski! Our service was impeccable and, even though there were some mosquitos (drawn in by the tree and the garden), they were quick to get citronella candles on our table and provide us with bug spray that actually smelled really good! If you find yourself in Tecate, don't pass up Vinoteca!

Delicious fresh food, great service and beautiful patio. Would definitely go back on our way home.read more

what an awesome little spot just off to the side of the street. it sits on the corner of the side…read moreroad to which we turn in to get to Casa Encinares B&B. It's an outdoor wooden shack, no doors. we noticed it because there was a sign that said "beer" and we saw lots of people there. our host at the B&B told us we must try it before we leave, so we did. as soon as we sat down at the bar, a big tall gentleman came to greet us. he spoke perfect english and made some awesome recommendations. BF had a couple of beers (cant remember what they were, but i believe it was local), and because i wasn't planning on drinking more (we just got done with a small winery tasting tour), but Chris recommended i try the cocktiel de guayaba, its a bourbon cocktail with guava! It was only 40 pesos and if the owner recommends me.....why would i refuse? we were super hungry so we wanted something light and Chris recommended the pulpo ceviche (100 pesos). My drink was ridiculously tasty as i am a huge guava fan and the bourbon balances the sweetness of the guava with the liquor. the pulpo (octopus) ceviche was wonderful and delicious with just the right portion and served with thin tortilla chips. Chris was so kind and chatted with us almost the entire time we were there. i HIGHLY recommend stopping by here for a quick drink and light bite even if you are here to explore the wines in this wine country. my only mistake was that we came here after having drank so much already from visiting all the wineries!
