I picked up a Diamond Taxi quite recently when I arrived at the station and had to get to a conference at a local hotel. It was a snowy day and the driving conditions were pretty atrocious -- but full credit to the driver, who drove very conservatively and delivered me without any alarms.
The driver was definitely one of those strong, silent types -- he didn't say a word all journey, even though the weather would have provided an obvious conversation-opener -- but perhaps this was deliberate to help him concentrate on the task in hand. There was no radio blaring away, nor even the two-way intercom-type-thing most cabbies use to keep in touch with their HQ. From my point of view, the journey was a welcome chance to sit and just 'be', really
I'd use these people again. The fare was reasonable, the taxi clean, and what they lacked in friendly conversation they more than made up for in good driving -- which is, after all, the main point of a taxi company. read more
