After several chats, then a costly ($1,582.45) visit to Tesla Santa Clara-Northwestern Parkway, Fernando installed a new sheet of Expel XR Black Ceramic to my new rear backlite glass for no charge, as promised. As first reported, my rear defroster ribbons were damaged pre-install. This Tesla service center claims this to be wear and tear for a 2018 M3, even when simply cleaning the rear glass. Online chats and Tesla forums will show that some Tesla service centers will cover this defroster failure for no charge as "goodwill" or "defect," -- just not "warranty." My apologies to Fernando as when he said "cleaning," he really meant a simple cleaning of the glass prior to install! It could have happened to anyone -- including me. It was not clear to me at the time what could have happened to cause this type of damage. My bad for the misunderstanding. (I suppose the takeaway here is it's best to get your car tinted when the rear defroster is new, not after years of sitting in the sun.) And, after further review of my original invoice, Fernando did give me a cash discount as a gesture of goodwill. I look forward to returning to GSAG&T to get my other vehicles tinted.

When I contacted him for an estimate, out of dozens of businesses, he's still got the lowest price and best work and quality materials so he's solid in my book (3M Ceramic IR). I'd recommend him anytime. When I contacted him for retint, the process was easy. Told him what I wanted, he had close availability and took around 2-3 hours. I changed it up to 25% front, 70% clear windshield with a 4 inch 5% black tint strip on the top of the windshield. Solid work.

I found Elite Window Tint on Yelp and contacted Jose to get a quote and evaluation. It was actually an easy selection process as Jose seemed very honest and with a fantastic attention to detail. He was also the only one in the area with the STEK PPF I wanted. Right after picking up my car, I dropped it off at Elite for a 10-day makeover. Jose and Jonathan did a masterful job of prepping the paint and windows. The PPF was installed (nearly) perfectly, and they have been very very responsive at fixing any of the minor glitches. The window tint looks amazing and really helps reduce the glare when driving. The ceramic coating beads off water like crazy. The pricing is definitely competitive. Not the lowest, not the highest. But you get a great result that will (hopefully) last a while. Overall, I'm impressed and very happy with these guys. Great job and highly recommended.

He explained that adding 5% over the factory privacy glass would make the rear windows extremely dark and suggested that 15% would provide a better match to 5% on the front windows. I appreciated the honest advice and his willingness to share his expertise without any pressure. In the end, I decided to go with 5% all the way around because that was the look I wanted, and he was absolutely right. It is extremely dark, but exactly what I was looking for. The customer service was just as impressive as the quality of the work. Although my appointment was scheduled for 2:30 PM, Yosup accommodated my request to drop the truck off early in the morning so I could pick it up after work.
