Hauk Custom Pools - Fire pit, grill island, and patio cover

Hauk Custom Pools

We hired Hauk Custom Pools to build our pool approximately three years ago and paid around…read more$147,000. For that kind of investment, we expected both quality workmanship and support when problems arose. Unfortunately, we experienced ongoing issues with the pool and eventually had to hire another pool company to determine what was wrong. They found leaks involving both skimmers and our waterfall. Having those problems repaired cost us an additional approximately $10,000 out of pocket. During our attempts to resolve the situation, a Hauk manager came to our home and said that Hauk wanted a structural engineer to inspect the pool. We did not request a structural engineer. We then waited several weeks for the inspection and report. The engineer's report, dated September 4, 2026, was extremely brief and essentially stated there were no structural issues. Structural integrity was never the problem we were asking Hauk to resolve -- the leaks were. What has been especially frustrating is that since receiving that report, we have had no meaningful follow-up from Hauk regarding resolution of the actual issues or reimbursement for the repairs we had to pay another company to perform. We understand that problems can occur with any major construction project. What matters is how a company responds when they do. After spending approximately $147,000 on a pool that is only about three years old, we never expected to spend another approximately $10,000 fixing leaks ourselves and then be left without a resolution. We have photographs, repair invoices, written communications and the structural engineer's report documenting our experience. -- Matt and Shannon Kowalec

Unfortunately, that was not our experience. We did the "Green-to-Clean ($800)". It took SIX weeks. We had to repeatedly follow up because they would go ~2 weeks without showing up or communicating. When we asked, we were told there was an emergency situation, we tried to be understanding, but there was no proactive communication on their end. We decided weekly service ($250/month). After the initial clean, we signed up for weekly maintenance. Within 24-48 hours of each visit, chlorine levels would drop back to 0 ppm. GP&A's explanation was that our pool system was outdated and needed to be replaced. However, we had two separate pool inspections done when we purchased the home, plus 3-4 other pool companies assess the equipment, none of them flagged the system (installed in 2017) as a problem requiring replacement. Upsell attempts: GP&A quoted us a full system replacement (under $6,000) and then a filter replacement (~$2,200) before they said they could continue service. We decided to move on to another provider. End of service: We asked if they could continue maintaining the pool through the end of the month. Their last visit was six days before the final day of the month (image attached). The pool was visibly green and in poor condition by end of month (again they serviced it 6 days ago and it is this green; not adding enough chlorine). When we brought this up, they responded that the condition was "consistent with the unresolved filtration issue for which repairs were recommended", essentially placing responsibility on us for not purchasing their repair package. We were looking for a long-term, trustworthy pool service company. What we experienced was poor communication, inconsistent results, and recommendations that no other company has supported. I cannot recommend GP&A based on our experience.

It is now July 2026 -- eight months later -- and it is still not fixed. I have called and emailed repeatedly. Every time, I'm told someone will come out to repair it. No one ever does. The damage is covered under warranty. I've asked them directly to either fix the stain or refund the plaster cost. They will not respond to either request. Here's the pattern: Prestige Pool collects full payment before the plaster work is even finished. Once they have your money, there is no urgency and no accountability. I have spent eight months chasing a company that has already been paid in full for a job it did not finish correctly. I am a homeowner who paid in full, in good faith, and got a broken promise in return. If you are considering this company, protect yourself: do not release full payment until the pool is filled with water and confirmed in complete working condition. Get every warranty commitment in writing. I did not do this carefully enough, and I am paying for it eight months later with a stained wall and a company that will not fix the stain they incurred on my pool. Homeowners work hard for this money. Prestige Pool took mine and then stopped listening the moment the check cleared.
