Five-Star Review for Goldworks…read more Twenty-seven years ago, my engagement ring had a CZ while my husband paid off the real diamond. Choosing layaway instead of debt was our first financial decision together. When the diamond was finally paid off and set, the jeweler moved the CZ into a simple white-gold pendant I wore every day for more than 20 years -- a small but meaningful reminder of our commitment to start our marriage debt-free. After decades of wear, the clasp broke, and I lost the necklace before I could repair it. I searched for months before accepting it was gone. We came to Goldworks hoping to recreate it, and they exceeded every expectation. They listened with genuine care and rebuilt the necklace beautifully -- honoring the original design, but this time with a real diamond. It matches my wedding set perfectly and feels like a piece of our history restored. Thank you, Goldworks, for your kindness, craftsmanship, and respect. We are truly grateful.

This was a known issue from the date of receiving my ring and for my 25th anniversary I requested they clean up the fire scaling. When I left my ring the only known issue was the fire scaling, after THEY removed all the diamonds they reported that my center stone-a very rare Colorado Diamond was chipped/scratched and that this was caused by other diamonds that shifted in the course of wearing my ring as the platinum was a soft medal. This center stone was NOT chipped/scratched when I left the ring at Rocky Mountain Goldworks and I talked with the sales rep Nikoo and the owner Tom and both refused to acknowledge any ownership that when removing the stones that they damaged the very rare Colorado Diamond. This very rare Colorado Diamond cannot be replaced as these are no longer being mined in Northern Colorado. Be wary when bringing heirloom pieces to this shop. The fire scaling on my ring was not even part of the center setting which housed the Colorado Diamond so I also question whether it even needed to be removed. I'm very happy with the design/look of ring but tremendously disappointed with the outcome of the damage to my Colorado Diamond.

Still intimidated I venture maybe once , twice a year for I think 4 years to see if they still have them. They do and I did try some designs with them. Yet not feeling it. Fast forward to this year, a Wonderful Valentine's Day . We purchased the stones. They are very sentimental to me as I chose to use my wedding ring to create a "mothers ring" Using these stones as they are mine and my daughter birthstone. We added my other daughter's birthstone which-is a peridot. So have to give the store feedback- this purchase was so important to me- yet the process was very disappointing- the stones were put into two plastic bags and then put into a small green bag. The receipt was folded up and put into that bag . Really? We did discuss how to add the stones to my ring and she brought out a big catalog of jewelry supplies- not custom or sentimental about how important it is to create a dream ring that killed the deal for them to design a ring for me- However I am very appreciative that they helped me authenticate family stones that I had . That was very nice of them.

Unfortunately, we found our way to Dawson's last after making our way from the north end of Old Town. It's not that the other jewelry stores aren't nice- they very much are- it's just that Gregg's shop has the most diverse selection with the most personality of any shop in town. We are drawn to vintage jewelry, and the selection at Dawson's is second to none in that regards. Prices are also incredibly reasonable; I left with my wife's diamond earrings having paid 1/3 the price that I was expecting/prepared to pay. Gregg was amazing. He went to graduate school for gemology, and it certainly shows. He was incredibly friendly and even played with our 7 month-old son, taking him behind the counter to look at himself in the mirror. You can tell that he's a family man who cares about his business. If you're in Fort Collins and are looking for unique, vintage jewelry, this shop is a MUST VISIT.

Absolutely refused. This is an odd and unfortunate policy. I would have loved to have had the ring made here, but could not handle the risk of zero paper trail; not even an order write-up. I took my ring back & moved on. I bounced this "no receipt" policy off of another small, family-owned jewelry shop around the corner & they also found it very disturbing as they routinely write a detailed receipt, including a value estimate, so any piece left is covered under their insurance. I wish this man the best, but I hope he develops some better business practices & customer service." Alright, so even reading this review beforehand I took a chance and called Dawson's Jewelry and made an appointment. Upon arriving and meeting him, Sharon was 100% correct and on point. He is a decently kind man and was on-time as well so props to him! BUTTTTT.... you can't NOT give me a receipt or write-up and expect me to be okay with just leaving my personal and expensive belongings in your possession. I've dealt with plenty of jeweler's throughout my life for repairs and custom pieces. This is super strange! Sharon V. said it best...
