WOW. This place is amazing! We were visiting Estes Park and wanted to take home a piece of jewelry as a souvenir but all the ones I saw looked too tchotchke-ish, too generic, too boring, or something I could get back home or simply order online. I wanted something local and unique. My husband and I had lunch at Penelope's and was walking back to the car when the Village Goldsmith's jewelry displays caught my eye. Here was some unique jewelry representing Estes Park and RMNP. I ran inside and Karen helped us immediately. She said that the pieces I was interested in (rings with RMNP's mountain ranges) were designed and cast in house. And surprise surprise of COURSE the only one on display fit my hand perfectly. My husband insisted we buy it and I walked out with a lovely and memorable piece of jewelry. Not only was it special to the location, it was custom made, locally designed, and hand cast. In a row of stores all carrying the same types of jewelry, it was wonderful finding a custom artist jeweler. The inventory is not overwhelming with items you see in every chain jewelry store. Custom, beautiful, artistic jewelry is what you will find in the Village Goldsmith. The young lady who waited on us was very good and helpful. I wasn't looking for myself, because men's rings all look the same. But as I was glancing through the men's wedding ring case, I spotted a wedding band I had never seen before. Tungsten steal with a wood circular inlay-it was beautiful, and unique. The price was more than fair, so I simply wore it out of the store. Perfect fit. read more

Very frustrated with Village Goldsmith's communication. First, I leave a message with a young lady who stated she would text me their email address. Nothing. When I got a hold of the owner, Karen she stated that I couldn't get a text because I don't have an iPhone - weird. Karen then stated she would send me an email that I could respond to with a design I was going to request that she make for me. Nothing. I then reached the owner's partner by phone who stated that Karen must have written my email address incorrectly. More frustration. I then took their email address to send my design. 2 days go by and I hear nothing... I called and received Karen on the phone who stated she never received my email??? It registered in my sent items. I GIVE UP. There are many folks that do handmade, personal design. I will find someone who can communicate properly. read more

WOW! I do not even know where to begin! AMAZING! Everyone in the shop is so friendly and nice, the prices are great, and my girlfriend (now fiance) and I did not feel like we were being pushed into buying something. We went with a custom ring and every idea we tossed out was accepted unlike other jewelry shops we went to where most of our ideas were shot down. I wondered into this amazing store to browse after a couple days of hiking. Karen was there and immediately made me feel welcome and inquired about where I was from and how my vacation was going. I have three silver bangles that my Grandmother has passed down to me. She wore them all the time and I have followed in the same tradition, but after 2 weeks of hiking and camping, they were looking pretty dull. I could immediately tell that Karen was someone who knew jewelry and someone I could trust with these important bracelets. I asked her if there was something that she could do and she immediately buffed them out for me and gave me some advice for taking care of them in the future. They looked so beautiful and restored I couldn't have been more grateful. Karen did this for me out of the beauty of her heart and I was so incredibly touched by our human connection. We have spent over 50 years in our summer home in Estes Park. My mom and I both had original designs created by the founding owner, and we always had excellent service. Last week, my teenage son had two friends visiting, and one was looking to buy a significant gift for his girlfriend. Of course, my son knew this was the place to go. When they entered, they walked over to a case of gold jewelry, only to be intercepted by the clerk who immediately guided them to the silver and said something to the effect of "this is probably going to be better suited to your budget." No questions, no consideration, just a snap judgment based on a brief glance. She had no idea how long or how much this young man had saved for a special gift. All three young men turned around and walked out. I'm sure his girlfriend will love the beautiful earrings he purchased from a more hospitable competitor. read more
