WOW. This place is amazing!…read more We were visiting Estes Park and wanted to take home a piece of jewelry as a souvenir but all the ones I saw looked too tchotchke-ish, too generic, too boring, or something I could get back home or simply order online. I wanted something local and unique. My husband and I had lunch at Penelope's and was walking back to the car when the Village Goldsmith's jewelry displays caught my eye. Here was some unique jewelry representing Estes Park and RMNP. I ran inside and Karen helped us immediately. She said that the pieces I was interested in (rings with RMNP's mountain ranges) were designed and cast in house. And surprise surprise of COURSE the only one on display fit my hand perfectly. My husband insisted we buy it and I walked out with a lovely and memorable piece of jewelry. Not only was it special to the location, it was custom made, locally designed, and hand cast. It is very special and we spent all day taking photos of it next to the mountain ranges it represented HAHA. Thanks, Karen! Three women were behind the counter talking the entire time that I walked around their store. Not once did anyone acknowledge me. Not one simple greeting, not one Can I help you?, not one! I left, saw my husband waiting outside for me and told him 'I want to do an experiment to see what might happen if I walk in with a man. Sadly, what I thought would happen, happened. We recieved a greeting and within seconds. The owner/manager walked up to us and asked if she could help us. I told her the story and she apologized. I couldn't truly identify what three women it was, but I'm confident she knew (wasnt like there were ten working that morning).
