First, I do want to give a shoutout to Tony, who has worked on me the last few times. He is great. Unfortunately, he was busy with another customer yesterday. While I was getting my toes done, one of the other workers, Jesse (I asked for her name before I left), repeatedly stared at me throughout my entire appointment. I made eye contact with her numerous times and even asked her how she was doing because the staring was so noticeable. She continued making comments to the woman doing my feet, laughing, and repeatedly looking back at me. I asked the woman doing my feet twice if there was an issue because the behavior had become so uncomfortable. Jesse then said she was looking at the TV, even though we had made eye contact numerous times. When Jesse eventually got up and walked past me, she was still looking in my direction--which was in the opposite direction of the TV--and still snickering. At that point, I felt so uncomfortable that I decided not to even finish getting my toes done and left. I can't speak for what was going through her mind, but as a Black customer, being watched, laughing, and comments made me feel singled out and disrespected. Whatever the reason was, the experience felt racially uncomfortable to me. After being a customer here for a few years, I never expected to be treated this way. My first nail tech was good, she did a good job I requested shellac with cuticle care, she just wasn't as detailed as I prefer. I was really busy with work wasn't able to get back out there until ironically their celebrated new year holiday-a month later. I was scheduled with Tom, I requested a full set of acrylics medium length square with rounded corners. He suggested an ombré French manicure-which is gorgeous and very natural looking. He cleaned up my cuticles and applied oil. He is a perfectionist and he did not pick up his cell phone at all. That was impressive-I appreciated that. He did answer a few calls for the business but that didn't take away from his attentiveness to me as the customer-he was quick and only answered if he was finished with his current task. He is now my technician and my tips show my appreciation. Thanks Tom!
