Great place for you dog. It is spacious and not too many dogs were it is overwhelming for a pup. I was first a little put off due to the fact that there were some reviews saying that there are some aggressive dogs. I normally go in the morning roughly 8:30 am (right after the wave of first dogs) and maybe my pup plays with one or another dog after that time. All dogs are friendly so that is good. I have yet to go at night because I am a little worried but I will try to give it a shot once I have the opportunity to. There is a nice little loop hike which I normally take my dog if there weren't many dogs for him to interact and play with. Only thing is, some people do not pick up after their dogs. I really love this park. If it's your first time, you might get lost as it's within a huge community park. It's right across the elementary school. If you see a parking lot entrance, do not go there. The parking lot is far away from the dog park, which is fine because you can park on the street. And there is plenty of street parking. There is also a little trail next to the dog park where you can take your dog out on a hike too. There's a shaded area for the humans and dogs in both small and big dog park and a water fountain for the dogs. read more

They remodeled this dog park from the last time I was here. It was mainly dirt and there were no stair ways. Now there is new walk ways and the dog park has wooden chips which makes it a lot cleaner for the dogs and humans. Usually I keep hearing other dogs are aggressive and gang up on other dogs but every time I go with my dogs they are perfectly sociable and know how to behave and take care of themselves. It's a clean park. But the wood chips are so deep that my dog who usually loves running around chasing balls had a hard time running in the large dog park. Best times to come are weekend mornings 8-10am or week nights before it gets dark. If you come often enough you'll recognize the regulars (both dogs and owners). For awhile, I came out pretty regularly, but the real regulars are cliquey. Most are friendly to you and your dog, but some can be mean and rude. It got to the point that I would go at different times to avoid those people. If your dog is 20lbs+, they can be in the big dog area that backs up against the hill. If less than 20lbs, then the small dog area closer to the entrance and parallel to the street. Signs are posted at entrances. If your dog is small, enter the big dog area at your dog's risk.. Even if your small dog gets along with big dogs, not all big dogs get along with small dogs. Wood chips get in your shoes but come out easy enough. Same for dog fur. I actually like it better than grass/dirt parks because it just brushes off. read more

Has great area for large and small dogs. We brought our two small dogs, one chihuahua and one maltese here. Maltese has some trouble socializing, by the end of our time here he was more friendly and calm. Greatest dog park ever. Have been coming here ever since I got my first puppy Merlin. Yes I have a dog named Merlin, and yes he has magical powers. Ironically the park opened around the same time I got Merlin so he has pretty much grown up here. More importantly, everyone at the dog park has witnessed Merlin grown up. Yes, the people. The main reason I keep coming back, and I cannot stress this enough but the people, the regulars. It's like a big extended family. If you don't believe me visit the facebook page one of the regulars created for the dog park (search Friends of Diamond Bar Dog Park on facebook). Not only are there tons of regulars, but they are ultra friendly/talkative/hilarious. I don't come as often anymore because of work but I've gotten to know everyone on a name to name basis. Everyone has gotten to know me and my dogs (yes I eventually got a second one and yes her name is Leia). Everyone is very welcoming and they'd love to meet you and your dog! Other positives about this wonderful park are drinking fountains inside the park itself, benches for you to sit on, and wood chips. Wood chips? Yep, makes picking up the doodoo very easy. Just grab a handful of wood chips and you've got the goods (try doing that on grass). To all the complaints about the wood chips, I have never had a problem. Plus, even after it rains you can still come out here cause it's not muddy. Both of my dogs can be found running around in this park for HOURS with no problems. There are also 2 sides, a big dog side and a small dog side. Occasionally there will be scuffles, but I mean that's pretty much unavoidable. It's just like us humans, have you ever had a disagreement with someone you met? The important thing is that everyone is supportive and altercations are handled or put out quickly. It's also important to note that there is dog park decorum that everyone practices to keep this an enjoyable environment. So please, leash up your dog, start up the car and come to the Diamond Bar Bark Park. You will feel right at home. Oh and they provide poop bags for ya, so score! This is the first dog park I have ever taken my dogs to and I don't think I'd go anywhere else. It's quiet near the hills and a decent space for my huskies to run. I read other review's that a lot of people don't really care for the wood chips. To me this is way better than grass or dirt. They can run forever and I know that the loose wood chips aren't bothering their joints. Another plus is they always offer dog bags. The dispensers are always stocked and everyone I've encountered is respectful enough to clean up their pooches mess. If your not a local to this neighborhood (I'm not) give it a few weeks to learn the locals schedule and your doggies will have 10 times more fun with all the dogs that will come. I am completely flabbergasted at this park receiving three stars when out of all the multiple dog parks I have been to, I can confidently deem this dog park to be the worst dog park I have ever been to in my entire life. I would give his park zero stars if I could. 90% of the time was spent looking for the dog park section and when we finally found it, I was staring at the tiny worn out sign labeled "Dog Park" with an arrow pointing to the left. That sign would be useful if it was located at a more open area because as nice and big as that park is, it is difficult finding one exact location; namely the dog park section. This is the first time I've seen both of the big/small dog sections located so far apart from each other. It's nice for safety reasons, but to have the distance be so far apart where you have to walk an extra flight of stairs to get to the big dog section, all that did was build up the foul mood that was already boiling within us with each passing second. It is absurd that after walking through so much grass around the park, the dog park did not have even a blade of grass for the dogs to walk/lay on. It was all wood chips that I think can be dangerous if it lodges into a dog's paw or mouth if they were to somehow bite into it. My friend and I decided to rest under the shade of a tree because that was the one and only location where there was actual shade because most of the park had zero shading which was a very unfortunate feature for a very hot and sunny day. My dog ended up just sitting next to us the entire time which was strange because she is a very lively dog who loves to explore the dog parks but because she was not used to the wood chips and could not even lay down due to its uncomfortable features, she kept sitting there whining until we left. In the end, I highly recommend AVOIDING this dog park. There are many other ones to try from that would benefit both owners and their dogs that are at a more convenient location, cleaner/grassier land, and multiple water fountains and dog bowls that would cool down both parties. The dog park is set in an affluent neighborhood and the entire park the dog park is in (Pantera Park) is very spacious and green. The dog park is spacious as well in both the small and large dog sections, but there's no green to be seen here. They put wood chips instead. The wood chips aren't too big of a deal, but I would prefer grass because it's easier on the eyes and it doesn't get stuck all over my dog's coat. My dog likes to run, so he kicks the wood chips onto himself a lot. I appreciate the dog fountains and the filled dog bag dispensers. I also like how the dog park is kind of isolated from the rest of the park, so it's a bit more peaceful for the dog owners and the dogs. However, this place can be dead depending on the time you go and even when there are dogs, there tends to be few unless you stay quite a while. Some reviewers also pointed out that there isn't much shade and I have to agree. I don't think there are any dog toys lying around either. Overall, decent dog park if you know the right time to go. They reopened! Now with shade and extra benches. No more squatting at the edge of the fence under the trees! I like this dog bark because they have a separate area for big dogs. Though, compared to the "little dogs" here... mine are super tiny. Fit through the fence tiny... but MOST dogs here are well behaved and most of the owners are too. This is one of my favorite dog parks as I'm a native Pomona/Diamond Bar resident. There are two areas, one for large dogs and one for small dogs. Both have adequate seating and shade. They each feature five benches and could easily sit 10 people. Two of those benches are under a canopy so you can get some shade. The areas are also 100% filled with wood chips, no grass/trees/bushes, etc. I'd rather have this than grass since it's easier to spot and clean up poop, it functions like a kitty litter. One of the main reasons I give this park 4 stars is because of the pet owner community. Everyone treats you like family and we all look forward to hanging out with everyone and their dogs. The place can get pretty packed from 4 PM until dark, usually when everyone gets off work. read more

I like taking my pup here since it's woodchips and it's a little easy to clean her afterwards, but every weekend I've been there has only been 1-2 dogs in the small dog side which defeats the purpose of the park to me. I do really like the cleanliness and safety of the surrounding park and nearby hiking trails, and the dog area itself seems well maintained. I know it's hidden in the hills so it might be tough for some folks to know about it... May try to come in the mornings since I've heard those are peak hours rather than evenings. Every chance I get I bring my dog here. the ground is wood chipped and has water fountains inside each of the 2 large gated areas, one for small dogs and other for the big dogs 25lbs and over. Bark park is one of the great additions added to Pantera park. I went to the large dog park several times. There are some aggressive dogs that seem to know each other and don't welcome other dogs. I was warned about a tan dog that is there alot and is agressive. One day when my dog entered the park 5 or 6 dogs greated my dog, sniffing. Which is normal but then it got aggresive. They all jumped on her and cornered her. She was on her back with all of the other dogs on her. The owners where all within 10 feet and didn't do anything except one owner broke it up. I gave it a few seconds and again they where on her again. I left. It seems as if new comers are not welcome and the owners don't care if their dogs misbehave. I understand it's a dog park obut the owners need to be responsible to make sure their dogs act appropriately. I know another person this has happened to. Good luck and be careful. read more

When I first found out that they were opening a dog park in Diamond Bar I was so excited thinking about how close it is in comparison to all the other dog parks I've taking my babies to. Once I got there I was EXTREMELY disappointed. 1. No grass! The wood chips are so annoying and always get stuck in my poor babies' fur. 2. Small! What I can't comprehend is why they decided to make the small dog area bigger than the big dog area.... Uhhh... whoever designed this park needs to rethink their career path. 3. The park is so dead looking. There are not many places to sit, and if there are then there is no shade! Obviously this park is a fail. I was expecting more from you, Diamond Bar! *UPDATED REVIEW* 7/19/2017 4 star to 2 star When the park initially opened, I took my small dog here every weekend for a good year or 2 and my dog had a good time (see previous review). However, the dynamics have definitely changed. I stopped coming here as often because many people that started coming seem to socialize more than they monitor their dog. This means they don't see (or don't care) when their dog poops. So many poops. In addition, many can't/won't control their unruly dog, so the dogs have no boundaries. I've seen many dogs get humped, gang up on a shy dog causing distress, dogs getting bitten, etc. And all of these have happened to my dog. Obviously, if your dog is continuously bothering a dog inappropriately, the right thing would be to control your dog and stop the inappropriate behavior or else you risk your dogs getting bit because that dog is not listening to certain cues. That is dog etiquette. However, owners here just let their dogs do whatever they want and they don't care. I normally have to step in to take my dogs away. The dog that's bothering my dog will often follow me and jump on me trying to bite my dog's legs and tail, and the owners don't care. Control your dogs people. It's such a shame because this is a decent dog park, but the people here ruin it with their careless attitude. There is ALWAYS one dog/owner that ruins it for everyone. Drive to Chino Hills. The dog park there is a lot nicer and owners have better etiquette. ~~3/2014~~ People complain too much about a dog park. Isn't the whole point for taking your dog(s) to a dog park is for them to socialize and have fun? Not for the comfort of their humans. First, the sm dog area is NOT bigger than the big dog area. The sm dog area may LOOK bigger to the naked eye. The sm dog area is 0.3 acres while the big dog area is 0.6 acres. Second, yes there are wood chips instead of grass. Dogs don't care. Wood chips are easier/cheaper for the city to maintain anyways. If the wood chips get stuck in your dog's fur, then all you do is brush them and groom them like you're supposed to. I have a morkie and wood chips stick all over his fur on his legs everytime he goes, but I just brush him when we get home. No big deal. Small price to pay as long as he has fun. If your dog EATS anything, then this is not the dog park for your dog. Third, if you want shade, then sit on the side the sun is not facing OR come later on in the day when it's cooler or when the sun is setting. My dog(s) can find shade behind/under the benches or in one of the corner. Or if you're in the big dog area, there's a bench underneath one tree. Yes, the appearance is not too appealing, but dogs don't judge. All I care about is that my dogs have fun. This place does the job. I don't care if I'M not comfortable. If you want to go where there's more people and dogs, then go at 4:00pm and after until the sun sets. If you don't want so many dogs around, then go prior to that, and by "not so many," I mean between 0-4 dogs. read more

As a dog owner/lover I am always enthusiastic to bring my dog anywhere I can. I've been to several dog parks and I would say this one is simple and fairly clean. Pros: -Small and large dog area -Water fountains for you and your dog -Benches scattered around the corners -Shade if you come during the right time -There were tennis balls laying around for your dog to play with -Nice neighborhood -Basketball courts and hike area right next to it -Wood chips instead of mud/dust on you and your dog (so its cleaner!) Cons: (these might be circumstantial) -There weren't as many people as I hoped and everyone was just minding their own business. Other dog parks I went to, people were always socializing -Wood chips kept getting stuck to my dog -I'm more of a grass person. It's just more appealing to the eye & it's more likely I would stay longer to enjoy the scenery and maybe even read a book while by dog runs around -No side walks and the wood chip makes the ground uneven -I literally stepped in poop right after I walked in the gate. Of course that's the owners fault for not picking up (this can happen anywhere!) but the wood chips made it hard for me to see that there was poop mixed in it... Since I went on a Wednesday afternoon (5:00pm), it might be better for me to go weekends if I want to see more dogs. I have mixed feelings about wood chips but it is cleaner (as long as theres no poop!) However, I do like the area so I'll definitely be back if I'm in Diamond Bar. read more

One of the worse dog parks in the area. City of Diamond bar's wasteful spending of over $200,000 on a dog park has no shade , no trees, no grass. It looks like a big hamster cage with wood chips inside. there is seating for 4 ppl under and small awning in each small / large dog area. don't even bother going if it's summer time because you and your pet will be baking in the sun. obviously the ppl that planned and work at the city has no idea what a dog park should look like and amenity to provide to dog owners thumbs down!! read more

This was a great park! They have a small dog and big dog area, which are both huge. The large dog area has an incline up the hill too, which is awesome for throwing balls at and really wearing your pooch out. There's no grass it's all wood chips. I thought I would hate it, but honestly it was fine. The pieces are not real big, so they're comfortable for the dogs to run without getting hurt. Downside, poop is the same color, so carry a provided doggie bag with. If you have to go get a bag and then return to the scene of the crime....you may lose it : 0 There's plenty of benches for people, a couple are covered and there's a fountain for people and pooches I went on a hot summer Thursday at 6pm. The large dog area was pumpin with about 30 dogs of all sizes. The small dogs seem to show up about 7pm for the lil pooch club, but it still doesn't get as exciting as the big dog club. My dog had an absolute blast! The people are all very nice, it's quite a social event. They even have a Facebook page to get to know the other owners. Diamond Bar dog park has finally opened!! I can't believe it took so long to get a dog park in the area considering how residential Diamond Bar/Phillips Ranch/Chino Hills is. Well it is finally here and although it was a little drizzly yesterday, I definitely made a point to bring the pups here for some sunshine today. Now, while I am super happy to have a park in the 'hood, unfortunately, it isn't without fault. First, the park is divided into small and big dog areas, but there is only ONE water fountain. And the water fountain is located outside of both play areas! Wtf? Basically, in order to give your dog water, you need to leash him up, take him outside, drink, then come back in. It makes absolutely no sense. Second, the park is 100% wood chips. I understand that grass is significantly more expensive, but it is so much nicer and you don't feel like you're playing in a hamster cage. Also, since the wood chips are so small, after the dog does his business and kick to cover it up, you can't see the poo anymore! Finally, there are no benches, shade trees, nothing. At this point, the park really is just a fenced in lot. I really hope they're planning to upgrade their amenities soon. So there ya go. I'm really glad the park has finally opened and I'm sure dogs of all sizes will have a great time. I'm sure we will continue to make trips to other local parks (San Dimas, Fullerton, etc) though to mix things up. read more

We brought our dog here twice over the period of about 3 weeks. While she seemed to have a great time playing with other dogs (she's still a puppy so we wanted to be sure and socialize her at a young age), we will not be returning. Both times we decided to go to this park, the owners didn't seem to have control of their dogs, or seem to care how their dogs are acting/what they're doing to others. The first time, there was a medium sized mix that kept going after her and growling, showing his teeth, etc. My husband asked the owner to please keep control of her dog and the owner just brushed it off like it was nothing. The dog continued to bully ours so we left. The 2nd time she was actually ganged up on by a group of dogs, when she tried to run out of the circle they formed, she was nipped by one of them. She ended up with a 2" long gash on her side (her perfect coat was now blemished) and we ended up with a few hundred dollars in vet bills, our dog needing staples and antibiotics, and us dealing with her cone of shame for 2 weeks. I also agree with the other reviewers about the quality of the park itself, looks like a wasteland, I'd rather drive all the way to Huntington to let my dog run around on the beach. read more

I love this dog park. It's SO CLEAN and the space is pretty big to run around. They newly installed a dog water fountain and some shade for the humans. There's plenty of spaced out seating around the park so humans don't have to congregate together if they don't want to. People are complaining about the wood chips but I personally really like it. It's so clean compared to dirt and grass... Cause let's be honest, the dirt and grass aren't going to absorb the pee as much and the wood chips make it easier to pick up the poo. (Plus who wants dirt in their car after?) You don't have to worry about stepping in.. Remnants unless someone didn't pick it up. There used to be more tennis balls but I think some dogs took them home. There's a station for poo bags near the entrance, two entrances for the big dog park (over 25 lbs). This park is way better than the Fullerton and San Dimas dog parks. I constantly encounter aggressive dogs at those parks, none to date at this one. I do suggest putting some hand sanitizer stations around the park, but I'm not sure if there's enough maintenance people to make sure those are filled. read more

I visited this park while back in town for the Holidays visiting my parents. Although I did walk around Pantera couple times, unable to navigate using the poor signage, I was quite impressed with the cleanliness of the dog park. This was the first time I've been to any dog park with wood chips, and it was quite pleasant because there was no dirt or mud to clean off of my white dog. There weren't too many dogs early in the morning but my dog had a blast playing fetch and running around eating wood chips. Majority of the negative reviews seem like it's coming from people who have "glamour" dogs, who want their dogs to play by themselves while the owner sits around to play on their phones. I do agree there wasn't much shade but don't expect it when you're outdoors and the purpose is to have your dog exercise and socialize. If you expect the Ritz at a dog park, just stay home w your A/C on, or better yet go to the Ritz. A dog park is built as a service and a convenience to the community, it's not to cater to everyone's specific needs. If your dog is hot from the sun, just take them out and walk them over to a shaded area within the park, stop being so lazy. If your dog hates wood chips, just find a dog park that has grass. The wood chips are an ingenious idea, it saves the city money. Given CA's in a drought, I applaud and commend the city of Diamond Bar for finding a way to provide a park for dogs, while being environmentally conscious. Don't know why there are such low ratings for this park. I have no complaints! Yeah the wood chips get stuck to my dogs hair but they're easy to remove. Just brush em off. I've only been to the irvine dog park and San Dimas dog park. I was really happy when I learned that diamond bar was building a dog park cuz I didn't wanna drive to San Dimas, but they could've really planned this park a lot better. The park has two fenced areas, one for large dogs and one for small dogs. There's two entrances to the small dog area. I have a 5 lb chihuahua mix and she's tiny. While in the fence area, I noticed there were small parts of the fences by the entrances that my little dog could get out of. And of course, she went through it so if you have tiny dogs just be aware that they may be able to get out. She still had a good one running around. The fence area is basically ONLY wood chips. There's only ONE water fountain and its located outside of the fenced areas, so I suggest bringing a bowl. There are no benches and no shade for owners. With the wood chips, it's really hard to see where the dogs pooped, so watch your step ! There was only one cardboard trash can inside the fenced area when I went the opening day. I prefer the other dog parks I've been to, but ill probably be going here because of how close it is. A lot of the owners were friendly as well. Hopefully they'll add some more stuff :/ read more

This dog park is a little hard to find at first; it's next to the basketball courts at Pantera Park. It's actually faster to get there if you park on the street right before the entrance to the lot than at the parking lot, but then you'd have to walk down the hill on a dirt path. That can prove to be tricky with an overly excited dog :) If you do park in the lot, just follow the paved path past the basketball courts. As other reviewers have already mentioned, the small dog section is larger than the large dog section (which is odd), and there is only one drinking fountain situated outside both dog areas. Incredibly inconvenient. However, every time I've gone, a very nice owner will bring a large bucket or a large water bowl into the area so that the dogs have accessible water. (Thank you thoughtful owners!) Based on reading other reviewers' comments, I thought I would hate the wood chips. But I actually don't mind and find it easy to see where and when I need to pick up after my dog. It is however, rather, embarrassing when he kicks the wood chips at other dogs/owners after he does his business. I do hear of other owners complaining that the wood chips get stuck in their dogs' fur or their dogs eat the wood chips. And onto why I actually really like this dog park -- the owners are regulars and really friendly people who are mindful of their dogs and other dogs. The space is quite small compared to other parks so you would think that may pose some problems. Every time I've gone, there's been at least 15+ dogs in there, and I've never seen a fight or any other inappropriate behaviors by the dogs. If anything, my dog is probably the troublemaker of the bunch as he loves to bark at other dogs in an attempt to play with them :P Everyone has been really nice, and the owners encourage their dogs to play with other dogs. They're also quick to stop any inappropriate behaviors before it escalates. I also guess that my dog enjoys the smaller space more--he seems less anxious and is getting to know the area and other dogs faster. There are doggy poop bags (that smell like baby powder) provided both at the entrance from the parking lot and in the dog area itself. There is ONE tree that provides shade, and this may prove to be a problem in the summer. I hope they add a drinking fountain (or 2) and more shade inside the area, but overall, I enjoy bringing my dog here. read more

Overall: clean, well kept. Good park to take your dog to run off some of their energy. Pros: -dogs play in fenced area. -small dog park and big dog park are separate. -dog bags are provided. -decent size play area (been to bigger bark parks) -people are pretty good about picking up after their pets.
