READ BEFORE PURCHASING!
I purchased a car from Diamond Motors approximately 8 months ago. It was a 2009 Toyota Camry and everyone knows Toyotas are pretty reliable cars. However that was not the case in my purchase here.
When I was working with the salesman, who was very nice, allowed me to test drive the car, which it seemed ok.
However, as soon as I purchased the car, things IMMEDIATELY got worse.
Come to find out there were several things wrong with the car.
1. Before I go into issues with the car, the dealership jacked up the price, which to some extent I understand because you want to make a sale and a margin from the sale. However, the price was jacked up so high, the bank had to call me and ask why I was paying such a high price for the car.
The salesman at the dealership called me shortly after to redo the paperwork which caused him to not get a commission for the car. Come to find out the price of the car should have been a lot lower, you'll understand more in a moment.
2. Now to the car itself. There was no catalytic converter in the car. The manager and owner of the dealership called me regarding this because they knew that it shouldn't have been sold without the catalytic converter and for you all that know the EPA laws that is a HUGE problem.
So they put the burden on me to get it fixed and was told to basically lie to the bank and tell them there were no problems to close the deal.
2. Then the oil and engine light came on. Mind you, this was the next day of my purchase and driving it off the lot. I called the dealership and explained this and was told to bring the car back for an oil change from their mechanic (which I'm going to talk about in a moment).
But come to find out the oil leak was much WORSE than what I was let on to believe. After taking it back and forth to different mechanic shops and couldn't find the source of the leak and putting hundreds of dollars in more oil for the car, the engine finally locked up and the car is no longer usable.
My friend and I called a mechanic the night the car went out to try to get it back running, but that was a disaster because we put oil in the car and it was literally SPRAYING OIL from out of the engine affecting my brakes, belt, and other parts of the car.
The next day, my mechanic opened up the top part of the engine (hence the picture) and what we found out was more than shocking.
The engine was literally being held on by TAPE AND GLUE! TAPE AND GLUE!
This was the source of the leak which caused so much damage to the car, there were literally shards of metal in the oil.
Now here we are present day, and I'm carless having to get the car repossessed because the dealership is not taking responsibility for the damages.
Per my mechanic, this car shouldn't have passed any state inspections, neither should it have been sold at that price with that much damage to the engine.
The manager Sam agreed that their mechanics wouldn't have readily inspected the engine, so it was indeed an oversight. But it's an oversight that now will cost me the price of a new engine or a repossession of the car affecting my credit.
So again, just be mindful of purchasing a car here at this lot. read more
