Free Beer tasting evening. Monteith's caft beer
Natalie R.

Managed to get tickets to a free beer tasting (Monteith's Craft Beer) here. I found the atmosphere to be very welcoming and relaxed. Other than enjoying a range of amazing free beer with small portions of perfectly paired food dishes, we also spent a good amount of time lounging on the comfy sofas they have spaced around the bar/dining area. Only notice on our way out that they offer board games for customers and hot water bottles with blankets for customers that are cold or want to sit outside. It's a shame the pub is so far from central London. I would be a frequent visitor if it was slightly closer to home.

Was invited to a beer tasting event at the Dial Arch. Didn't know what to expect to find at the of the DLR line, I was impressed. The Dial Arch is a large spacious pub/restaurant. It had a very comfy atmosphere that feels like a great place to relax and hang out with friends. The event was fun with food matching with each beer. The staff were friendly and helpful. I look forward when I can return back to Woolwich and the Dial Arch, maybe next time will be for their quiz night or sunny summers day.

Dlial arch pub... View from where we sat
Martin D.

Just spent a wonderful afternoon that turned into a wonderful evening at the Dial Arch pub in Woolwich. If you live locally you'll know there really isn't much that's good around here so it was nice to find this place. The old building had been lovingly turned into a pub keeping many of the historical features. The puvb is very cozy and has a great ambiance. We went for Sunday lunch which was excellent. We had scallops to start. Then there was a fantastic Sunday lunch with a trio of meats along with roasted veg, roast potatoes and gravy. We finished off with cheesecake. It was all well cooked and tasty. We retired to from the restraunt section to the main pub and sat in comfy leather chairs till late in the evening. I'll certainly be back!

Trio of roasts @£22

A group of us visited for a family meal. The decor and seating was nice. The menu on paper looked OK. I ordered the trio of roasts for £22. I thought it would be a decent amount of select meats. Unfortunately it was a half roasted chicken, a small amount of pork and a sliver of beef propped up with veg underneath! The Yorkshire pudding was ok, but the meal wasn't worth the price. Dessert was a sticky toffee pudding with custard. It was very sweet, too much sugar. Service wasn't anything to boast about. Staff weren't bothered to engage or crack a smile, which was disappointing. Not a restaurant I'd visit again for a meal unfortunately.

A great stylish pub in a lovely developed space and on the site of Arsenal's first match.

I arrived before 5pm on a Wednesday and it was already very busy. After 5pm this place was wild. I thought it could be due to the fact that it was the first day of the Holiday Menu. I placed my order via app, as any good patron would do ;) I had the same server for the duration of my visit and she was super nice! The holiday chicken wrap with stuffing was better than I anticipated in terms of flavors and presentation, and came out very hot. I had also also ordered a side of chips, which never disappoints. I have been recovering from a broken leg, that involved surgery, so I was able to use the accessible bathroom (toilet) facility downstairs. It is rather annoying that people who are perfectly capable of ascending/descending a single flight of stairs will queue to use the accessible facility out of convivence. Of course I know not all disabilities are visible; however, when it is a group of girls in short skirts and nice shoes with beers in their hands, it is obvious they are using this facility because it is closer to the bar. Anyway, it was still in a decent condition given the number of early patrons. Wifi worked. Drinks and food were good. I would return if in the area because I do love the Spoons.

They always come to check if you like the food and ensure you have all the condiments you need/want. The Great Harry has changed my opinion about the JD Whetherspoon chain - they have properly put their game up in terms of food quality. So I don't need to mention the value for money here! When my mum was visiting me from Brazil, she had the opportunity to come to this pub with me and we now share fond memories of moments of laughter and great food. She can't forget the taste of the chips and insists that no other English pub make better and tastier chips! I mentioned to our waitress how memorable the place was to my mum. The little details like the blue-flowery patterns on their plates, the happy staff, amazing food etc... A few minutes later, the waitress came back with a gift for my mum! After our brief conversation, she had gone to speak to the manager who arranged a full set of Whetherspoons crockery for my mum! I just could not believe my eyes. I was literally so overwhelmed that did not even know what to do! I could not be more thankful. Both the manager and the waitress (two lovely ladies) really exceeded my expectations - they went an extra mile and gave my mother a souvenir that now has a very strong emotional value to us. I have worked in the customer service industry for years, but this was the very first time I was properly wowed. I am forever thankful to both of them.
