Thanks Anton for the shout out and congrats to being the first to review the Southshore line! He…read moredoes a great job detailing the Southshore so I'll just keep my review brief. I have used the Southshore train service about a dozen times since I started dating my boyfriend about two years ago. He lives in South Bend and we love going to Chicago, which is about 2 hours by train. It is $15.75 each way per adult person from South Bend to Millenium Station in Chicago. So for the two of us round trip, it cost $63. For children, seniors, and disabled the cost per ticket is $7.75. Greater discounts are available if you buy rides in bulk. This is a great, inexpensive way to get to and from Chicago from South Bend. The seats are mostly comfy, some of the passenger train cars have outlets, and everyone is nice, clean, and keeps to themselves. The ride does get bumpy around the Indiana Dunes so prepare gor that if you get motion sickness like I do.

Thanks Mallory S. for posting this page. This train line is not just a means of transportation but a full traveling experience. Download the app to check out the schedule or easy way to purchase tickets which can also be bought at the stations or on the train. I remember this line running from downtown Chicago to South Bend, IN airport, then a short 20 minute drive to the University of Notre Dame. The landscape and views along the route were beautiful. As of April this year, the Monon Corridor line opened that includes stations in Hammond and Munster IN. An exchange station makes transfers from one line to the next easy. On your ride, check out several of the amenities. There is a quiet "sleeping" car, there is Wi-Fi available, racks to store your bikes while traveling and some cars have charging ports. Some great times and memories spent on the South Shore Line growing up. So good to see it's still around and thriving. It is one of only a few Interurban railways remaining in the United States. I hope it has many more years to come
