Was told to have a seat when I entered by the young female at the counter. I sat there for a good 15 minutes and was ignored by her even after she finished serving the two people who had been there when I entered. Her coworker came and went and then came back before finally making eye contact and asking if I had been helped? No, I haven't. Giving 3 stars solely for this 2nd tech as she was nice. As I was unable to get my blood work that day, I ended up going to another DLS location the next day where the service was more efficient and friendlier. I don't usually hop on Yelp to write reviews; however my visit to this particular DLS location was a miss for me, unfortunately. Don't get me wrong, because, much love to the individuals that helped me out. I normally go to another one, however, decided to go to this one instead this time around. Mind you, I'm someone that is not a fan of needles. Anyway. I was greeted by a few young gentlemen. The first gentleman that helped me was real nice. Took all the necessary information that was needed to process my lab work and proceeded to draw my blood. However, the sad thing is that he was unsuccessful with collecting my blood.. twice. (I was poked on the top of my left hand and on the bend of my left arm) Apparently, if a worker is unsuccessful twice, they'll have to call for another person to come in (?). So, he called in another person. He was friendly as well and successfully was able to draw blood from my right arm. It seemed like he was more experienced in locating a vein. (Note: he did mention that for females, it is a bit harder to find our veins because they are smaller) Once the needle got into my right arm, I thought YAY, I don't have to worry about getting bloodwork done anymore. But, alas, that was not the case. The second gentleman, caught that they forgot to take two tubes of blood. He informed me about it, which, thank goodness he did and offered to poke again.. but I was like uhm, I'll think about it. (cries) (After being poked three times, I didn't wanna get poked the *fourth* time within that one day, ahhh) I ended up taking a rest from being a pin cushion and went to another location the following day. :') read more

Parking is a little hairy (avoid early hours when fasting customers are rushing to get in) and the elevator is a bit antiquated, but the employees at Kapahulu DLS make it my DLS branch of choice! Jocelyn is extremely friendly and professional. When my doctor's office forgot to call in the order, she quickly handled it. She didn't know how much pressure I was under and lifted my spirits with her smile and bubbly personality. Every other worker I've encountered here has displayed the utmost in courtesy and professionalism as well. :) read more

First off this place is in a building where the old KC Drive Inn used to be. Hmmm I may be dating myself. Oh well. Unlike some of the other people who wrote reviews, I had a great experience coming here. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with friendly faces and a warm hello. I was asked what I was there for and I just handed them the paperwork from my doctor as it was listed on the paperwork. They also asked me for my ID and insurance card. They told me to take a seat and they will call me when they are ready. In a couple of minutes, they called my name and I went to the back where Count Dracula was waiting to take my blood. Ok there was no Count Dracula but there was a vampire. Alright, we all know vampires are just myth and folklore... The technician was funny as he was looking at my veins and I told him I hate needles and I pass out easily (I was joking) but he took me seriously and asked if I want to lay down on the cot. Yes they have a cot for those of you who do faint as they don't want you to hurt yourself. I thought that was pretty cool. I was in and out of there in record time. The only problem I have is that they have more patients than parking stalls, and sometimes it can be a bit of a wait just to park your car. Over all they are friendly and fast. Just make sure you have all your paperwork, ID and insurance card and if you are instructed not to eat, make sure no late night snacking and you will be in good hands. read more

The staff here is really kind. Catelyn and Freda were on duty when I got there. Both ladies are welcoming and make you feel at ease, especially because they understand that most folks are afraid of having their blood drawn. Freda was calming, professional and made me feel valued. I didn't even realize how quick the process was. We talked and were done within minutes. Parking here is limited (like many businesses in the area), however it's free. Hours are more accomodating. read more

This was my first time to this location. I live right by here and drive by several times a week. I had no idea this was a DLS location. The parking was rally easy to get, we even asked the security person if we were in the right spot and they helped us park and find the entrance. They were checking temperatures before you got in the elevator and they helped me find the right place in the building. The place was asked so I felt a little uncomfortable, but it is because it's a medical building with provider offices, a pharmacy, and the lab and they spaced waiting areas all over the place. This was just on the third floor too! But once I got in the door to the lab, I was met very quickly and taken to a draw seat where I was away from others. She took my lab orders and I waited a few minutes for her to come back. She verified my identity and started the blood draw. I have dolly veins and I'm used to multiple attempts with the needle. She had to go at it a second time, but it was the best blood draw I've ever had even with the first miss! Super quick, efficient and very little pain. read more

I have a medical condition so I have to have my blood taken often. But I have a problem with needles. I have been going to this diagnostic labs for over 3 years now. I remind them when I come in the door about my issue and they chat me through it like it's nothing... Even during covin we're all a little bit nervous, well I am! These people are really pros. I think because this is all they do all day they are so good at it! I have tried some of the other labs in Honolulu and now I specifically request this one. If you have to get your blood drawn or do a year in test for work, big sigh here, this is the place to go. I like that they open early in the morning so I can go before work, And even during cove that I have never waited longer than 10 minutes. I'm gonna point out one strange thing and that's the parking garage underneath the building. It's a little weird getting in-and-out of, There is this older gentleman who wants to point you into a particular spot but I just pretend I don't see him and park where it's convenient. read more

I don't know what everyone is talking about. The place is clean, the wait is almost non existent if you come early morning and they processed my labs and sent results to my Doc very quickly. The patients also have an access to it online on their website. Caitlyn was my technician, polite, gentle and explained every step of the process. I can't remember the name of the person who drew my blood, but it was the best experience. I didn't even feel a prick. She was very careful, courteous and informative. I have been to many labs in Honolulu, but this office certainly was the best since I came to Honolulu 7 years ago. There's a free parking on the ground level, but avoid lunch ours as many visitors are flocking during the lunch break. read more

Tried the Kapahulu location for my blood test this time because I thought it would be less busy than Kahala.... I pulled into the parking lot at the Kapahulu location and had to wait a minute for parking. Attendant was very nice....then I had t walk around a barricade to get tot he elevator...the office is on the 3rd floor. I got off the elevator to find myself in a crowded room that is shared with a pharmacy....OMG!.....err, it turns out that was a waiting room for the doctor there....good thing I noticed a door that said Diagnostic Laboratory...whew! Walked in and there were only 2 people waiting... Junko was the tech...she was so very polite and professional. She processed the paperwork, drew my blood and I was out of there.... I get so annoyed by people saying "Next in line..." or "Next customer"....it was so refreshing to have someone actually notice that I was a human and speak courteously to me...Thank you Junko! read more

I've been going here at least once a month for the last 5 years. After reading other complaints, I have to say a few things: 1. Urine. Every DLS has a urine drop off area, normally off to the side. If you don't like people seeing your pee, then put your cup in a paper bag and put your name on it. 2. Parking. This location is like most -- busy in the morning and and not so busy as the day wears on. Blood testing places are normally busier in the morning because of some labs requiring fasting. I have been there at times when I did have to wait to find parking. If you like to have ample parking, then go to the Kahala location 5 min. away. 3. Customer Service. This isn't a Burger King. You can't have it YOUR WAY. Nevertheless, all the lab techs are BUSY with SOMETHING ALL THE TIME. They aren't in the employee rest area screwing around watching cat videos. I have NEVER EVER seen any employee doing non-work-related tasks. I have never had an bad experience with any tech being rude to me nor have I witnessed any tech being other than 100% nice. 4. Dirty, Dingy, Unsanitary, etc. Ridiculous! Were you on drugs? Seriously? This place is spotless. Sure, some of the furnishings are outdated, but to say this place is filthy is absolutely insane! You know there are doctors in the building who tell their patients to do their blood testing .. THERE! Don't you think if the place was unsanitary that the doctors IN THE SAME BUILDING would notice? Gimme a break. 5. Medishare. This is the only complaint that sounds legit. I would get the name of the rude person on the phone and write a letter to management or take it to the BBB. In conclusion, as far as I'm concerned, all the complaints are by pampered ninnies or are simply FAKE REVIEWS. read more

These folks are great. An attitude of cheerfulness prevails in spite of the sometimes not-so-cheerful work they do (e.g. blood draws). They handled my non-routine request with speed and efficiency, stopping only momentarily to actually read the instructions from the requesting lab (wow!) As mentioned in other reviews, the parking lot is kind of crazy, but they had a guy directing traffic that kept it from being like bumper cars. Would definitely go here again if I have to. read more

Congested parking lot, shabby building looks dirty inside & out, long wait times for service, and the staff is not friendly at all. The last time I tried to get a lab test here, I waited 45 minutes with 1 person ahead of me and was never greeted or helped. I walked out and vowed to never return to this location. read more

I went to this lab because it's close to home I can walk knowing how congested their parking garage is. You don't get greeted and with two patients in front of me I didn't have my # called till 35 minutes later! Then the tech who took my blood was bad at sticking the needle in and I was bruised for 5 days. How can you have people moving around and doing "something" but no one to assist people waiting?! I'm giving it four stars bc it is conveniently located in a medical building on kapahulu and Harding and its the only diagnostic lab that is open till 5p! All the others close at 12p. Not to mention no lines, no wait and super friendly service! Yay read more

Brah, what a joke this place is. Get nobody in the office (patients) and you still gotta grab a number, with 4/5 nurses walking around or working behind the desk, with no care or concern for other patients time. No sense of urgency or common courtesy. What are you saying...that your time is more important then mines?? How rude....at least establish some communication, welcome the patient, let them what the wait is, or how long they're looking at, so they can decided if they'd like to come back at another time. Don't just say "Grab a number." No one likes to be referred to as a number.....unreal...you guys are clueless. read more

Contrary to building appearances, little parking and slow elevator ...the entire staff is very competent, friendly, fast and non-judgmental.
