Oh my goodness yum! This place is absolutely amazing. When I saw that they have an entire DHAL section of the menu I almost cried tears of joy and I also had a bit of an orgasm.
Indeed there are multiple dhals on the menu and that has made all of the difference in my life. The signature dhal here is the KAALI DHAL; Dhalings signature dish is rich, silky & smoky because this delectable urad dhal is slow cooked until velouté, and is then lovingly stirred into an aromatic, rich fried onion and tomato base, finished off with fragrant garam masala and fresh cilantro yummy mummy. The TADKA DHAL is a testament the tried and true, the classic, the one that has passed the test of time (like ten thousand years at least) ... indeed old is definitely gold! This classic dish is comforting, fragrant, aromatic and sensuously velvety; gently slow cooked lentils, packed with layers of flavours, a perfected tadka of sizzling aromatic spices. But last is absolutely not least here because the exceptional TOOR DHAL is a traditional South Indian classic that is full of goodness, richness and nuttiness; a pungent, coconutty toor dhal base, with healthful and sumptuous kale. Get all three please because you really need to taste the rainbow of dhals and your taste buds and excellent taste will thank you.
There is the THALI which will not disappoint. Can you even imagine delicious gunpowder flavoured broccoli?!? Well they've got that here too. I love broccoli so very much and I'm so happy to see this on the menu. The eggplant, green pea and potato pot is a traditional Gujarati classic that's outta this world scrumptious; slowly simmered in masala, finished off with green peas and fresh cilantro. And the gobi pakora is perfect deep fried goodness; cauliflower and chutney.
You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu here.
