A month later, I was shocked to receive a letter from our mortgage company stating that they were going to drop our account due to a lack of homeowners insurance. It turns out that Carol Stockdale, the agent handling our paperwork, had forgotten to file it, leaving us without coverage for weeks. I let this serious error slide because Carol was recommended by good friends. We managed to correct the issue, and a couple of years passed without major incidents. Ten days ago, I reached out to the owner of the agency, Jason Hughes, requesting an audit of our property. We live next to a wooded area, have a new roof, and have made several other changes that should affect our coverage. Jason promised to get back to me the following day, but I am still waiting for a response. This situation has left me concerned about the reliability of Hughes Insurance Group. I can't fathom having them advocate on my behalf in a real time of need. Trusting them to handle a claim or provide assistance seems risky based on my experiences.
