I have been using them for auto insurance for several years now after switching over from Geico, and I must say I've had no complaints and they also have excellent customer service. I like the fact that they are local so you can speak to someone who represents your account. Within the past couple of years I got a new representative named Elyse who's very customer service oriented and professional as well. She worked with me over the phone and reviewed my auto policy in detail to ensure I wasn't paying for unnecessary items to help me get the best price on my auto insurance policy. I have been with David's office for several years now. They have really been there for me from hail damage to fender benders. Their office really walked me through the process and answered all of my questions. They also took care of working with the body shop. Really made the process smooth and reduced the stress tremendously. To sum-up my experience with Dave Schara State Farm, I'd say superb. I was paying close to $200 a month for my auto insurance policy with my previous carrier. I felt this was all-together too much considering my impeccable driving record. I shopped around, and low and behold...almost every other auto company had cheaper rates. While I was on the last minute of finalizing a policy with progressive, luckily Jessica Vincent(agent) reached out with a quote that came in $100 cheaper per/month. Let me do the math for you ladies and gents: That is $600 in savings over 6 months and $1200 over 12. I get top-notch insurance and customer service for HALF of what I was paying previously. I urge anyone local to give them a call and see what they can do. read more

The team here definitely go above and beyond. My agent Monica S has answered all my questions (yes, even the ignorant ones) from day one. She walked me through every item of my premium making sure I understood what everything meant. She made sure I had coverage where I needed it to fit my own personal situation and made sure I wasn't paying money for coverage where I didn't need it. She is welcoming and very easy to talk to. She has been great with all my policy updates as well as communicating them to me. Not to mention she always responds in a timely fashion to all my emails and phone calls- I never have to set foot into their office. Dave Schara - "almost" like a family "friend" We have been with St. Farm for over 30 years, we have been with Dave Schara for approximately 10 years and we have refused to shop for less expensive insurance in the name of staying with St. Farm. Wow--BIG mistake. St. Farm began notifying Dave Schara in April/May that they were reviewing/terminating policies for frequency of claims. (Note: they cite 8 claims over 10 years for 3 drivers. These claims include: 2 windshield repairs, 2 towing claims and a rental car reimbursement. Together total about $500 at the most.) Oops, I guess it never crossed Dave's conscience to notify us of that. Dave let us renew our June-December policy without a mention of that small fact. Oh, and July, August, September, October and 1/2 of November pass--still no word. We get a phone call that our auto policy will not be renewed due to the frequency of claims. Let's understand this--it is not the dollar amount, it is the frequency. No word mentioned from Dave that these small claims will come back to bite us in the butt later. No word mentioned from Dave that we might want to just pay cash for these claims to avoid too much "frequency" of claims. No word mentioned from Dave that they look at "frequency" over dollars paid. Wow--mistake to stay with St. Farm with some misperceived loyalty. Who we think is "our" agent, who would "help" us to keep our coverages appropriate (ie the best coverage; the best value ) Nope, it doesn't work that way because Dave Schara actually waited until about 6 weeks before our cancellation to notify us. He left us a short amount of time to shop around and made it clear that he represents St. Farm and does not care about or service his clients appropriately. Great news - think about it while you have choices and are not left hanging. read more

I have been with David Schara's State Farm office since the mid 80's. I lived on West Braker and his office was on the corner of Burnet Road in a little house. Now I don't even live in Austin and I refuse to change agents. I have ALWAYS had GREAT service with this office. My go-to rep is Stacie Nichols. I ask for her and she takes GREAT care of all my needs and issues. This young lady is very efficient, very knowledgeable, and extremely kind. When we are on the phone together, she makes me feel like we're family. The "old school" feeling that you don't get very often anymore. Have you ever had an agent talk you down off the ledge? That's what David did for me. I've been with a different company for over 20 years and out of frustration I called David (because of the reviews he's gotten) and told him I was ready to jump! I explained my situation and David was honest and upfront, not just looking to sell a policy. I've opted to stay with my current company but I would recommend David Schara to anyone looking for insurance. I've never been a State Farm customer so I can't speak for the company but I can't imagine someone like David working for a company that is not as stand up as he is. Aside from the insurance advisement, we had such a pleasant conversation, almost like we'd been friends for forever. Refreshing to see that customer service is not lost. I don't even want to give this place 1 star! I've been with State Farm for well over 10 years and with this location for 4. This location is shady at best with how they do business with people. Because they wrote down my address wrong I wasn't getting mail from them (if they even sent any). In the past I've gotten emails that a bill was due for the 6 months. Not only did these people have my email they had my phone number and not once did they reach out to me. So what did they do? They canceled my policy. I tried to reinstate it just to get coverage and they quoted me $305 dollars more than my previous policy. They are crooks at best. If you must choose State Farm stay away from this location. The people who work here are incompetent. read more

Great service. They did a review of my policies (granted, not until I'd been a customer for a over 10 years) and advised me on how to save a few bucks ("I'm not sure you need that" kind of advice). In the great hailstorm of 25 March 2009, everyone was swamped with claims, but they handled me professionally and got my $6K car claim handled as promptly as possible. IF you think about it, buying insurance is making two decisions. One is the national carrier / policy to cover your insurance needs. The other is the agent you will deal with over the term of the policy. I've found State Farm policies to provide excellent coverage at a competitive price. Multiple times I've compared my package of policies and State Farm has always been priced to within a couple of dollars for the lowest competition. Their claim handling and coverage is very good. But this recommendation is about agents. I've had a number of agents including multiple from State Farm. Most are good at administrating the policy but that's it. During the years ( over 20 now ) that Mr. Schara has been my State Farm agent I have had to file a number of claims to cover auto accidents, hail damage to home & rental house, even a law suite, so I know his service well. David Schara stands out for his customer service. He knows just how stressful having an accident / claim can be. When I wreaked ( nearly totaled ) my nearly brand new Maxima on a vacation trip. The absolute worse type of accident without personal injury. I was stranded without transportation, at a lost , sitting in my hotel trying to figure out how to get the car fixed, me & my stuff home, and just feeling down at having done it myself. I couldn't even eat I felt so bad. His call that evening was more than just doing the job. He could have easily put the call off a day to business hours or had his team make the call. We discussed options and more importantly he lifted my spirits and helped me feel OK with the accident. 10 years later when the repair paint on that car failed, it was his idea and records on that repair that helped me use the repair warranty to update my Maxima ( twice ) More recently, I had an accident with my Tahoe. ( Once again nearly totaled but fortunately not my fault this time ) Mr. Schara's team was very quick and helpful as I got things started on the claim. I love this Tahoe and don't want to let it be totaled. Later on, both his team and David personally have discussed this claim and helped me understand the steps to take and how best to approach the other insurance company as well as best repair options. As I shared before, he really understood how you feel after an accident and went well beyond administering my claim. You have a choice, choose the best agent you can as you will appreciate that agent as much as the coverage. I know I do. BUCK read more
