If by that, you have no idea what I mean... you are young. The aisles are a bit on the narrow side, and your shopping cart might squeak if you grab one. If your shopping list is exotic, organic, or Paleo... this isn't your store. If you are used to shopping by your retailer's app on your smart phone and your coupons being digital... this isn't your store, either. Items are grouped on shelves neatly, but not "merchandiser style" with accent lighting and accompanying decor letting you know jalapenos are in season, etc. Associates are courteous and helpful, and the meat department is the real reason we stop in when nearby. They cut their own meats, and they ran specials worthy of stocking your freezer with. If you've never seen a country ham in person, stop in and they will have several in the center towards the back. They do have a produce aisle, but again this is old school... so be prepared that they will likely have avocados, but it may be the ripeness scale you were seeking for a certain night, etc. Their bread selection leans heavily towards all white bread... so fair warning. Stop in and check it out for yourself. All that's missing from your child hood is the desk where you return your glass bottles the deposit.

I had to come back and update my review because this place continues to impress me. If you haven't…read morebeen to Light Hill Meats yet, you're seriously missing out. The quality of everything they sell is top-notch, and it's become one of my favorite local spots for fresh meat. But this visit, I have to talk about the blueberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream. Wow. It was one of those desserts that makes you stop talking after the first bite. The cobbler was warm, packed with sweet blueberries, and had the perfect buttery, crumbly topping. Paired with the cold, creamy vanilla ice cream melting into it, it was absolutely incredible. I honestly wasn't expecting to find one of my favorite desserts at a butcher shop, but here we are! The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and happy to answer questions or make recommendations. You can tell they genuinely care about the quality of their products and the experience they provide. It's rare that I update a review, but this place earned it. Between the outstanding meats, excellent customer service, and now one of the best blueberry cobblers I've had, Light Hill Meats keeps giving me reasons to come back. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor--grab some meat for dinner and don't leave without trying the blueberry cobbler and vanilla ice cream. You can thank me later!

As a milk purist, it's a perversion of the simplicity and purity of fresh, delicious milk. All that changed when someone convinced me to try the chocolate milk at the Hatcher Dairy. WOW!!!!!!!!!! They said it would be amazing, they said it would be perfection, they said I would get addicted. They were right!!!! I don't even really like chocolate itself (I know, I'm the only human being who has ever said this). Unless it's white chocolate, or mixed with a lot of other ingredients, it's too strong and bitter for my taste. But despite my distaste for chocolate, this chocolate milk is so amazing that I think about it daily!!! I don't know what they put in it, but this is certainly the best chocolate milk in the world!!! The quaint little market also has homemade fancy cheeses and ice cream. WELL WORTH stopping by!!!!
