Our experience started out oddly, what no one else mentioned in their reviews was that Mr. Grunin is located in the K&G Store. While his location is inside the store, he is an independent alterations provider. This was a first for us. While we were a little confused to begin with, see list below, after we started the consultation it went rather well. Mr. Grunin was honest in his appraisal of the merits of altering some of our clothing (a few of my wife's dresses didn't really need altering as it would cost more than the original cost of dress). He marked our clothes using chalk, an old-school habit, which is less destructive to clothes than pins. After all of our clothes had been altered, and were ready for pick-up my wife tried on one of her dresses to check and see if she wanted it altered further (dress was a bit long, and she had it shortened) and the fit was very good, and she was satisfied. Of course when we went to pick up the altered clothes we had another 12 items to drop off to be altered. The procedure for alteration is as follows: 1. bring clothing into store. 2. take clothing to register and have store personnel tag each item of clothing (for us this took a bit of time ... 19 articles to tag) 3. take tagged clothing to men's alterations section, this is where Mr. Grunin is located 4. ring bell for service 5. try on clothes (this is where the actual consultation takes place) 6. fill out alteration tickets 7. take alteration tickets to K&G registers ... this step was something we didn't expect, but it makes sense 8. have tickets rung up and pay the amount. 9. return to store when garments are ready for pick-up 10. go to register to pick up altered clothing. read more

Awesome. A real pro with a good eye and capable workmanship. A calm assessment of the current fit, great suggestions on what work will improve the fit, a fair price for the work, and an approachable storefront with good parking. My experience: I ordered a bespoke suit on an online retailer that I knew was going to be close to specs, but which would need some final touches. DG gave me a great experience in getting there. I called the shop and was able to schedule a time for me to arrive the following day on my schedule. Upon arrival, parking was fine: DG had a few spaces in front and a lot in the back, which was ample for me. Dmitri directed me calmly to the dressing round, which I found spacious and comfortable. After dressing in the new suit, Dmitri's eye was keen to a couple of alterations that were going to be very helpful. I agreed with his proposals. He told me exactly when the suit would be ready, and he was spot on. I was thrilled with the final touches. The price could not be argued with. I was a groom in this experience--yes, he did my wedding suit!--and one of my groomsmen also went to DG for a more extensive alteration (taking in the waist of his trousers). Dmitriy provided exceptional service!!! I bought a new suit for my daughter's wedding knowing I would need to get it tailored. Living on the Eastern Shore I couldn't find a tailor close by so went to Yelp. After reading the reviews for DG Alterations I figured it was worth the 2 hour trip. Booking was simple through his site. Arriving at the shop I found it clean and neat, points for that, Dmitriy was waiting and ready for me, more points. I put the suit on and he went to work, easily within 10 minutes I was fitted, his style is very relaxing and professional. He asked when I needed the suit by and I told him I needed it in four days for my daughter's wedding. Knowing that I had traveled a distance he said if I had time he would do it then and save me multiple trips back and forth. He suggested a place to eat nearby. I was back within an hour and a half and he was finishing up. The jacket required the sleeves be shortened and buttons moved, the pants needed to be shortened and seat let out a bit for comfort. Putting the suit back on it fit perfectly!! It was well worth the travel time and money($70). Going forward if I need any tailoring I won't hesitate to come back to DG Alterations.. read more

I really needed someone who could make alterations on large number of high quality suits and pants that I received from my Dad because he could no longer wear them. I read a number of reviews of possible candidates and just happened to stumble on ones for DG Alteration, Inc. Knowing that some owners, regrettably, try to plant positive reviews to generate more business, I decided to have only 4 pair of pants altered initially. I had my measurements taken on Friday (10/20) at noon expecting that it would take about 4 days or so to get them back. I was amazed to find that the owner (Dmitriy) told me that I could pick them up early Saturday! When I picked my pants up today and tried them on, they look great and fit perfectly! Dmitriy is a real craftsmen! What's even better is that the price was excellent for the high quality work that he did! I'm very impressed and will be going back to him next week! read more

I bought a white seersucker suit from Jos A. Bank for my wedding. After having a terrible experience with their sales team when I picked up the suit, I felt it would be better to seek out other options for tailoring. (no, Jos A Bank does not include tailoring on their "tailor made suits" pricing) I walked in, put on the suit, and he marked all the places needed, noticed that to make the pants hang correctly that other parts would need to be taken in as well. He altered the jacket sleeves perfectly, put cuffs on the pants as requested, and made the pants fit beautifully. This is the only tailor I've been to that got the break on the front of the pants perfectly, while keeping the back of the pant legs from being so long that I step on them with my heel. If you need something done fabric wise, go here. It was done in a week. I will bring all my suits here for his work. read more

made a second visit to this establishment today. The first time was to have some trousers altered in the waist and today to have three pairs of trousers hemmed. I arrived at the business a little after 1300 (1 pm) but the place was not scheduled to open until 1500 (3 pm). The owner was seated at his work table. He opened the door, let me in, and demanded (LOL!) that I wait as he hemmed and pressed the trousers. For ANYONE in the Baltimore area that needs clothing alterations performed, you cannot go wrong by taking your items to this place! The customer service is outstanding but the workmanship is exceptional! Friends know that it is highly unusual for me to give "shout outs" to businesses on my Facebook page. However, just this once, I am gladly making an exception! I fear that my normal alterations shop has lost a customer. LOL! read more

Dmitriy is fantastic. I had a flight in hours and needed a suit jacket tailored he completed the alterations while I waited the price was great, much less than I have paid at other tailors and most importantly the alterations looked great. I think what I liked best about the service I received was the attention to detail. This jacket had been previously marked for alterations and even though I was in a rush Dmitriy had me put on the jacket and remarked the alterations, it took only a few seconds but it corrected the previously marked length. As the five star review suggests this service is as good as it gets. I will say if you have never been to the area that Dmitriy is located in the K and G store but accepts outside alterations. I highly recommend getting your alterations done here and I will in the future. read more

Took in 2 pairs of designer jeans for a hem. I had been taking my jeans into a large reputable department store for a hem for years but needed this job done quickly (this paticular department store takes 1-2 weeks for a hem). The job he did was FAR better than anything I had ever taken to to said department store. You can't tell there was any tailoring at all (is what you'd expect...or so you think). It appears as if they came this way from the manufacturer. Same factory stitching of thread color and placement. To top it off...they were done in 24 hours. When you spend $200 on a pair of jeans you want any tailoring to be well done..DG does not disappoint! So excited to take the rest of my tailoring needs to DG! Amazing quality work, quick turn time! Dmitriy is truly gifted!! I have two last-minute events scheduled for next week Tuesday. I literally went to him the Thursday before (yesterday) with little-to-no expectations. I risked the chance and he went above and beyond. I WENT IN AT 10AM AND HE HAD MY JACKETS DONE BY THE END OF THE DAY!! Outside of the quality, I was most impressed with the price as well. I made a ton of phone calls and most of the other alteration shops/tailors fell short of this quality and service (per google and Yelp reviews) or were going to charge a hefty price because of timing. Dmitriy did so well I gave him the difference of what I would've paid somewhere else as a tip. My coats look great! Customer service was hard to beat! Timing was impeccable! I was in a panic needing a last minute fix to a bridesmaid dress for a wedding in less than 24 hours. I called around to a few places en route to the wedding venue and found DG Alteration via the overwhelming number of positive Yelp reviews. The owner assured me the fix would not be an issue. I dropped the dress off, still nervous, at the shop. I came by the next day before the rehearsal dinner and the dress fit perfectly for an incredibly reasonable price - especially considering the time crunch! I don't normally write reviews, but I can't stress enough what a positive experience this was. If I lived closer, I'd take every garment I needed tailored here. As it is, I'm still thinking of making the hour-long commute if I need something as critical done again! read more

I have been going to DG for sometime. Although it is a bit of a distance from my home I find it well worth the trip. Dmitiry is great at what he does and he's very reliable. I do not hesitate to tell everyone I know to go to him and only him. He's fast and he's been there for me many times when I'm in a pinch. My neighbor brought her daughter there recently to make some alterations to her prom dress. They brought somewhere else and were quite disappointed. I wish they would have come to me first and not wasted their time or money. Dmitiry was able to help them out with very short notice. My Fiance had his birthday party celebration last week Saturday and lucky me, i was the party planner. We had gone shopping a few weeks back and we got a suit that we both thought looked good. Well, i asked him to try it on again the night before the party and imagine my horror when i realized that the trousers were a bit over-sized and the jacket looked somewhat like someone had stuffed him into a big sack of potatoes. I gave up immediately and advised him to pick something else to wear but my sister assured me that she knew someone who could get it fixed. When I needed a suit for my recently departed wife's memorial service, I just grabbed one off the rack and brought it to DG to alter. Most tailors would have just taken what I gave them. Instead, they asked me "Can you return it?" They showed me that I needed a different size to begin with and even told me where I could find what I needed. (It turns out I am a size 46S, which is not easy to find). When I brought it back, they shortened the arms and legs and adjusted the seat and crotch. They finished it in only two days and it fit me PERFECTLY! I am so glad I went to DG instead of somewhere else. I first met Dmitry when he performed the alterations for a friend's wedding dress. He did an incredible job on a dress that initially did not fit the bride well. Recently, after losing a great deal of weight, I asked him if he could alter my favorite (and expensive;-) winter coat to fit the "new me". He did a fantastic job and I was able to pick it up later that same day. I found DG alterations on yelp and saw how many great reviews it had so figured I would bring my bridesmaids dress. My dress was tricky because the top was too big and the waist was too tight. I was also nervous that with the waist being too tight it would be obvious where it was let out since there was a band around it. Dimitri exceeded my expectations. Not only does the dress fit so much better but you can't even tell where the change was made. I don't know how he did it but it fits perfectly now and was worth every penny. An extra bonus was that he was SUPER fast. My dress was ready in less than a week. I will definitely be going back to him for any future alterations! read more

He knew exactly what I wanted done and the place had a comfortable homey atmosphere. After visiting his place for an estimate, however, I decided to make some changes in my plans. I had gone to Dmitriy once before to get a pair of men's camo cargo pants from Goodwill (I'm female) altered with the seat and crotch adjusted for about $40 and I get compliments on them all the time! I'd never gotten anything tailored before but it makes all the difference. On this trip I got a 2 layered dress hemmed (Each layer is $35 so $70 in total) and a pair of designer jeans tapered and hemmed for $40 and where they used to look not quite right they are now very stylish! I would strongly recommend buying a few high quality used items (if you have the discretionary money) and getting them tailored. I feel like my whole closet is much better! 10/10! read more

I researched and called around before choosing DG Alteration to alter my last minute bridesmaid dress. He fit me in when it was convenient for me and had it done by the next morning! Was a fantastic find and will definitely use again for all alteration services. He even steam ironed the dress which was such a nice touch :) When I went to pick up my dress there were men there getting suits altered for a wedding that night!!! Great customer service also! Was seen as soon as I walked in the door. Right now he only takes cash and check, but payment is typically due at pickup and he will remind you when picking up to bring one of the payment options. read more
