When I reached out for additional questions, he was quick to respond. On appointment day, the installers showed up right on time and could not have been more professional and knowledgeable. The company owner came out and assessed the project. He was to get back to me with an estimate. The mantle is a very heavy beam. I received the estimate 2 weeks later after calling to ask about it. The estimate seemed really high, but I was told it would require 2 skilled workmen at least a day and possibly another half day to complete the job. Workmen came out a week later, said the brackets to mount the mantle would require a special order and they would get back to me. Heard nothing for 2 weeks, so called the company. Was told I had been sent an email stating when work was scheduled. I never received it. Workman showed up morning after I called. Only 1 workman came and he completed the job in 2 hours. The project cost over $1500 and while he did a nice job and cleaned up after himself, all the job really required was the installation of 3 L brackets and quickly placing the beam on them. This is not what was originally discussed and quoted for. I sent a letter to the company detailing my problems with them. Then had difficulty reaching the owner. Finally reached him by calling the company myself. The owner stated that he called numerous times and phone always went to voice mail. He left no messages. My iPhone recorded no calls from Handyman Connection. Stated he sent text stating when workman would be returning to complete the job. I never received it. I expressed my displeasure with the cost of the project. He stated that he did not base the cost on how many workmen and how many hours it would require to do the job. He based it on the skill required to do the job, the weight and uniqueness of the beam and the fact that he had to supply the insurance to cover any problems. He is making no adjustment in the cost of the project. This company charged an excessive amount of money for what turned out to be a much simpler installation than suggested. In future, I will get multiple estimates before employing any handymen and I would recommend you find someone other than Handyman Connection of McKinney for your work.

He gave me a quote right away via text, and came the next day to fix that along with other minor projects around the house. He fixed our toilet (he actually came back on Thursday again to look at it because there was a tiny issue), helped us patch up 2 toilet paper rolls, and tacked on an adhesive to a tiny hole that was causing our shower door to leak. Total with the front door lock fix was $300. Jose told me he also does remodeling. The photos he showed me of a project he did were amazing so I hope we can refresh our place too! We originally called for help removing an unusually placed back panel underneath our kitchen sink so we could access the plumbing. Once it was removed, I planned to install our new kitchen faucet myself, but quickly realized the space was so tight that I couldn't get the old fixture off. I called again the next day, and Vlad came out that morning and installed the new faucet for us. Then, later that same evening, I accidentally broke the cartridge while trying to install a new shower handle. We suddenly couldn't turn the water back on to the entire house. Even though Vlad had already worked a full day, he came by after his last job to help us figure out a way to at least get our water back on. What impressed me most was that he didn't just look for a quick temporary fix. He took his time, worked through the problem, and ultimately ended up fixing the shower handle and getting everything working properly. Vlad is knowledgeable, resourceful, patient, and genuinely cares about finding the right solution rather than just putting a bandage on a problem. After moving into a new home and tackling a seemingly endless list of projects, finding someone this dependable has been incredibly valuable.
