I've been going to Mel at Dezign Salon for about 4 years now and the second I left her chair after my first visit I knew my search was over. I had spent years looking for a stylist who knew how to cut curly hair (it's surprising how many don't understand curls) and Mel being a curly girl herself knew what she was doing. Nowadays I just walk in and tell her to do her thing and about what length and she nails it every time. So when it was time to find a hair/MUA for my wedding it was a total no-brainer! Weddings are such a big and you want to be surrounded by good vibes and people you trust so being able to have Mel and her team work on my and my girls made the whole day so much more relaxed. Last week I went there for the first time and I'd like to say my hair stylist Hanna did an amazing job. I was a bit skeptical about much I was paying for them to do my hair but i loved it in the end. Hanna sat me down and took her time asking me exactly what I wanted( how I wanted my hair cut, color, and most importantly to me was cost). I've never dyed my hair and so I had no idea what cost were too high and fair and I had to put a lot of trust in Hanna but she was amazing! And the whole time she guided me through each steps of the process and made sure I was comfortable and the 4 hours of her and me together flew by(fyi. I'd make sure to bring a little snack or have some bananas or oranges they offer during ur breaks bc you'll need it ;) but in the end after drying and styling my hair, she showed me the final results and I was in love!!! I was so afraid of not liking it but Hanna really did me right and I would go back to her again, definitely!!! And so will my mother and any future friends who need a hair stylist!!! Normally it takes several visits to get it right when going to a mew stylist but not this time! Blended, no stripes, Yay!!! I am very particular about my hair. From age 12 I've been a red head. Then COVID happened... The last time I cut, colored, or highlighted my hair professionally was 20 months ago. There were a lot of trips to Sally's in 2020 and 2021. I covered my red with a demi permanent brown to go back to my dishwater roots (fall 2020). I then noticed I'm like 8% gray after that grew out. So I made the mistake of trying lightening kits and gray to fade the growth (Jan 21). Pewter, mushroom brown demis... Finally opted for Overtone (Jun 21) - which came out blueish green.... I've been covering the bad Overtone with Color Wow brown hair powder daily just to leave my house and living with blue-brown hair for the past 6 weeks. (it was literally a puke teal color closer to my sunglasses than GRAY). Every salon I called had 6+ week wait list... I have a wedding to go in 4 weeks... I needed professional color correction. I LOVE Dezign's online booking tool. I booked at opening, with my hair goals pictures and someone else had a cancellation... Dezign texted me to see if I could take that appointment, taking pity on my woeful hair journey... in less than 24 hours!!!!!! NO MORE BLUE/BROWN HAIR! Rachel is a miracle worker. She did a very gentle color correction foil to give me the dimension and lift out the Blue nightmare. Then she did an amazing brunette and honey coverage. I point cut my own hair because I am growing out my own Longer Bob to really long hair - and her coloring combination did NO damage to my ends. I literally was taking selfies outside of the salon because my hair was perfect. I usually hate California prices for colorists. And I usually hate getting my hair done - as a redhead it was a chore... Every penny I spent was worth it. My only regret is not coming to Dezign SOONER! I think my favorite part about the salon - which is gorgeous btw - was how homey it felt. Rachel and everyone there made me feel like a regular. I have had a horrible experience back in 2023 at a different salon where I had asked for curtain bangs and ended up leaving with lord farquaad bangs. Cannot say enough good things about Dezign Salon and Lindsy Palmer! I have been coming here since I was a self-conscious little 16 year old. Lindsy helped me build so much confidence in myself through my formative years, and is always game to help me explore any style I want. She's done multiple styles of bangs, an undercut, a full pink dye, and somehow miraculously turned me back into a long haired blonde after a particularly unfortunate Girl With the Dragon Tattoo style chop I received while acting in New York. She is, in short, incredible. She recently hooked me up with a fresh blonde dye and AMAZING extensions with a touch of pink for my wedding. She made me feel absolutely beautiful (my favorite comments being "She looks like Avril Lavigne" from a friend when I was walking down the aisle and "Are you a princess?" from my little cousin ). In the past, I've had 4 really nice haircuts here: Lindsay (who since departed), and Erika both did great cuts and color. Quality aside, I can no longer recommend Dezign because they are unable to provide a consistent client-services experience. A month ago, I booked a haircut on a Friday so that I could look more polished for a major industry event taking place Monday (giving a speech to 20,000+ people including several large media outlets). I wanted to feel confident and a little pretty before such a huge thing. I show up on time for the appointment... and proceed to wait 30 minutes. Eventually, I can't wait anymore and ask to reschedule. The guest service lady apologizes ("I figured someone else would finish her last client"), offers a free sample of some hair product (I decline), and then finds a new appointment with a different stylist (someone I'd never seen before) for the next day. Being asked to see a completely new-to-me stylist before the biggest career milestone I'll ever hit? Not exactly great... but fine, whatever, I don't want to be a Karen. The new appointment is inconveniently scheduled in the middle of Saturday afternoon, and I had plans... but I figure a haircut will be worth it in making me feel better about this event, so I cancel my plans. The next morning, I get a text message that there's a 9:30am appointment available! Perfect! I uncancel those plans. But.... no. That 9:30am appointment isn't available anymore. It was mass-blasted out to everyone and someone grabbed it before I could. I wasn't being offered extra consideration after being treated poorly the previous day. Would I still like my replacement appointment at inconvenient-o-clock? No. I know it's just hair. But this was a time in which I really needed an organized, reliable service - and Dezign just couldn't seem to do that. In total, I've made 5 appointments here. Only 1 in 5 of those appointments was a highly negative experience. For the high cost of services ($70 for a haircut), I would prefer a more considerate client experience. I'm very confident I can find that elsewhere. read more

I had Arianna as my stylist and let me tell you... BEST STYLIST IVE EVER HAD I have been going to salons all over the Bay Area for YEARS and I never have had my hair done so perfectly by someone. She did exactly what I asked for but exceeded my expectations. My hair looks straight off a Pinterest board. She also put in extensions and they look amazing and are so comfortable as well as toned perfectly to match my hair. She recommended some great shampoo and conditioner Aveda products that have healed my damaged hair so much as well.
