The podiatrist barely even looked at me before saying "it's a sprain, you'll be fine by Monday." I angrily told him it was NOT a sprain, that I knew my body and something was wrong. That night had me back in ER for excruciating pain. Enter Dr. Friedberg the following week who, after some manipulation of my foot, and some questions concluded that I had a fascia tear that would probably take a few months to heal. Man was I glad I went to Dr. Friedberg! My foot did take a few months to heal, but he was nothing but kind, gentle, and professional through the entire process. He offered tips and tricks on how to regain strength and reduce pain, showed me my MRI images, and explained things in very simple and detailed ways. Steve was amazing and helped build a great program for me to come back from ACL/Meniscus surgery. Unfortunately, when I went back to work I had a scheduling conflict and changed to a different group. What a mistake!! I ended up needing a second surgery on my knee because they didn't rehab it correctly. A few years later I needed spinal surgery and Blue Hill had opened another location closer to my home. Christine was my therapist and built a great program to get my strength and mobility back. We knew I would be having a second surgery later that year so of course I went back to Christine! Again she followed the plan they work from, continue to move forward adding new exercises and/or additional weight, always checking in to make sure my form was correct and we weren't going to fast. I had another surgery and right back to Christine!! I just had my fourth spinal surgery. This one was much more complicated. Of course I called Blue Hill but Christine had moved to another location sadly, too far away. But I knew their program and how they approach rehab worked so I scheduled with Brittney. She is amazing!!! Extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to explain the movements, muscles being worked and she encourages me when I feel I'm not doing well enough. We discuss my progress and hone in on the areas that need more work. She finds the perfect exercises to increase my strength and build my stamina. i couldn't be happier with my progress!!!! I can hike, climb stairs, cook meals and play with my grandchildren even running a bit!! Not bad after thinking I would never be able to do these things again!!

Before I even get into the review - know this, the staff is awesome!…read more Now for the nitty-gritty: Since most of the reviews for physical therapy on Yelp seem to involve back pain, I decided to try this clinic based on convenience - it's only 5 minutes away from my office. I was diagnosed with a bi-lateral knee condition 3 years ago (read: I have the knees of a cranky 80-yr-old man) and saw several different physical therapists in Vt while in college and in the year before I moved to Boston. Most of my experiences with physical therapy involved private practices with brand-new equipment and either individual rooms or privacy curtains. It took a little adjusting to this clinic, as they are short on space, and the equipment is functional, but has definitely been around the block a time, or two, or three. The tables are pretty much right on top of each other, and I almost clocked someone in the head trying to do my leg extensions two weeks ago. However, the staff handles the space with professionalism, humor, and a heavy dose of improvisation - example, hip flexor exercises with the band were executed in the back hallway. I can honestly say that I was highly skeptical at first, but my knees are the best they've been in three years, and I've even been able to start playing sports again! The staff is on the younger side, but having seen PTs of all ages, I can tell that they know their stuff. My PT is Lucas, and I highly recommend asking for him if you decide to go. Every question I've had was answered, and better yet, he adjusted the exercises & workouts to match my preferences and lifestyle. Since I will need physical therapy for the rest of my life, it's nice to finally find a clinic willing to design a routine I enjoy, rather than the normal, boring, static exercises that require you to re-arrange your entire schedule. As a result, I do them more regularly, am noticing the improvements, and will continue going here as long as I am in the Boston area.

Today, I received a text message and was told that I owe a balance even after my Medicare and supplement insurance paid for it. The woman in the conversation with me raised her voice after I explained to her that I have a supplement and that my bill was paid in full. Then she started to yell and scream at me for more than 3 minutes, non-stop, because I asked if she could contact my insurance for explanations. She was very rude, and I told her to file a lawsuit for that amount because I don't think I am responsible for it with all my insurance coverage. After I hung up and I contacted my Insurance company, and it took them about half an hour to search my file and communicate with Medicare at the same time. Then he found out that the charge for the add-in was an extra fee for an unknown service that Medicare and Humana refused to pay for the inflated outstanding balance. Beware of this health care practice. I am going to find another trustworthy doctor and will never go back to him again.

Dr. Merlin was awesome! My second time was for my knee, torn meniscus. I had it repaired and had no problem so far (2 days will be a month since the surgery) with the surgery. It's healed great, minimal pain and bruising. Still going to PT and will be out of work for another month but no complaints about any of it!! Dr. Schyeler was amazing!
