Ken Truong (owner of Skywood) and his crew were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Ken carefully listened to my objectives during an initial site visit. I didn't have a particular design in mind, but within about 10 days Ken was able to prepare a written proposal that included 2D and 3D photos of what the finished landscape renovation might look like. This was really helpful because only few iterations of discussion and revisions were needed to complete the final proposal. Demolition of the existing backyard included removal of trees, artificial turf, patio blocks, and a considerable amount of soil. This phase was completed relatively quickly and without any problems due to Skywood's obvious experience. The next phases included installation of drainage pipes and conduits for lighting and irrigation and then covering with rock base and pavers. Skywood's efforts during these phases included an uncommonly high level of attention to detail to ensure that rainwater would flow away from the house and into the storm drains. The final phases included installation of a redwood fence, installation of rock veneer and capstone to cover a retaining wall, and installation of lights, plants and irrigation to produce a really beautiful garden. Despite several hot summer days, Ken and his crew always had a friendly, positive attitude and left the worksite clean each day. I give Skywood Landscaping my highest recommendation, and I would surely hire them in the future.

Drainage was our biggest concern as there's a slope going to the house. Addressing the engineering - not just aesthetics - gave us comfort that this company knows what they're doing. Quote- found them on Yelp, read the reviews, asked for a quote through Yelp projects. They offered next day coordination to view the project. Steven was pleasant and professional. Understood our drainage concerns. The emailed quote came the following day, and it had every detail requested. This punctuality and attention to detail already says a lot to me so we hired them. The job- Started on schedule and the team went above and beyond! We requested the excavated soil to be set aside so we could use it on another part of our property - they so kindly placed the soil in the areas we needed. We saw the engineering of the small gradation for water drainage. The channel drain and French drain were installed for longevity. The 1000+ sqft of pavers were meticulously arranged by hand to include border pavers. Timeframe- this massive job was scheduled for 5 days but extended into 10 days due to the manufacture shorting the border paver count. Clean up- the team did well to smooth out the rest of the excavated soil, gave us as much left over rock and pavers as we wanted and even relocated it to our convenience. Lastly, they swept the patio for immediate use and took any remaining debris. We very much appreciated Steven and the Novara crew for the long days and great work! They provided a thorough proposal and some different evergreen privacy tree recommendations within a couple days turnaround, and then completed the entire job the following Friday (10 days from initial outreach)! Throughout the process they were extremely communicative and proactive. During the day of install, they removed all existing weeds complimentarily, and helped install a new irrigation valve at discount after we determined we couldn't access my existing HOA one. Their prices were incredibly reasonable, and I was so impressed with the results. My sister has already reached out to them to request the same work at her house after hearing my experience :)

The improper wiring caused damage to our brand new hot tub. We had a third party inspect his work, which discovered additional electrical code violations and safety concerns. Unfortunately his response when we first told him about the bad wiring was to bring over his electrician and try to undo the mistakes without telling us, then claim that everything was fine all along. Well, we have multiple sources of evidence showing what the problem was and how he tried to hide it. Cannot recommend this company based on the outright dishonesty we experienced. One of the trees that he overcharged us for starting dying of root rot within 3 months, due to his team digging the smallest possible hole for the root ball. We dug it up and found the tree roots choking in a pool of old water due to a lack of drainage. A complaint with evidence has been submitted to the Contractors State License Board.
