DO NOT PATRONIZE!!! My car problems BEGAN after visiting Dewdney Auto. Recently brought a used (but running perfect) car in here for a safety check. They say everything is fine. Immediately as I'm driving away, it begins to shake violently when idling at red lights, even dying. I bring it back the next day and they say the spark plugs that "looked" fine yesterday are now shot and now FOUR need to be replaced. Funny coincidence eh? Why were my spark plugs working one day, then immediately after leaving Dewdney Auto, four of them are faulty, and need to be replaced immediately, or else my car would die? They then CHARGED ME $250 BUCKS TO CHANGE MY SPARK PLUGS. Also CHARGED ME $170 FOR A ~$40 Engine Torque Strut. Why was I charged $170.13 for a part that costs ~$40 No amount of shipping could account for that mark up. CONSUMER BEWARE!! read more

I personally had a Horriable experience! Guy tried charging a 200% mark up on parts, tried charging for work that did not need to be done and quoted for work than charged over by a couple hundred with out a call. A real bad experience just an idea of price $120ish parts for $350ish. Thousand dollar rebuild or $30 seal replacement. read more

While I was driving to work, my car went on the fritz and the E brake and battery light started going off. Luckily, I was able to find this gem close to the location I was working at that day. When I arrived, the garage was already packed with cars but they had a little down time and offered to take a look at my vehicle. They found the problem and was able to fix it easy. I was given a worst case quote to do a job on my truck. \this worst case included replacing a complete unit as opposed to just o-rings. The quote was $172.00 . When I picked up the truck the bill was $453.00. I mentioned the worst case quote and his reply was " the part cost more than that" . There was no extra work done. I feel I was baited with the low quote....get in writing if you go there.I will not go back....bad taste in my mouth. The mechanic may know his stuff.....this is not a reflection on him. read more

I took my car into see John and told him that I was told I needed a new head gasket as there was an oil leak. I also told him that I had taken it in for an engine steam cleaning and all I got was some cleaning solution and a pressure wash. Since that was the case I was leery about what they told me about the head gasket. John said to leave it with him he would check it out, later that day he called a told me that I didn't need a head gasket. It turns out it was a leaky oil sending unit and a leaky pipe fitting on the back of the head. During the job John found that my exhaust manifold was cracked and needed to be replaced. He also said that since he had to remove it to make the repair there was only the cost of the part. So at the end of the day, John by way of his honesty saved me $1100.00 + from the other firm and I got a new exhaust manifold in the deal as well. Total bill out the door $799.32. John and his crew are the type of people you hear about but are never lucky enough to find. Well I found him and Dewdney Automotive is now in my speed dial. If I ever have another problem BCAA will be towing me to see John. read more
