The outer land perimeter is consistently being improved even if it is in increments. Hidden from public view is a courtyard which houses many varieties of vegetation along with palm trees and pomegranates. In the rear of the location is a botanic garden. A beautiful place to take a little stroll or relax in the courtyard or rest area. My family and I have spent over 48 hours through multiple visits here. This is truly a hidden gem. Drop on by when you have a chance if you're in the area. Hope you enjoy it as much as my family and I do.

My secret is that immediately off Interstate 215 and the northeast corner of Windmill Lane and Maryland Parkway is a picturesque public garden. It is a 3.5 acre Demonstration Garden where over 1,000 species of native and non native plants come to life in the shadow of the Interstate 215 barrier wall. It is a secret garden that features a red colored quarter mile walking trail with six fitness machines every 100 feet. It is a thriving garden that includes a Butterfly Pavilion with picnic tables, children's garden, orchard garden with trees bearing fruit, meditation garden, vegetable garden, rose garden, and hundreds of colorful plants.   Before I lead into my first-hand experience here, it is important for me to mention a few things about the business listing which is the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension. According to its website it is an outreach arm of the University that is funded by the county, state, and federal dollars that extends unbiased, research-based knowledge from the University of Nevada to the residents of Southern Nevada. Amungst the numerous things they provide are non-degree programs in certain specialties. They have numerous buildings throughout the Silver State. This very location has a major emphasis on gardening. The campus is relatively small with two buildings. From the road, the two buildings conceal the secret garden at the north.   Sometimes the best sources of secrets are a  hiking trail. Throughout the many times that I passed by here on I-215, Windmill Lane, and Maryland Parkway; I was unaware this serene spot existed. All it took for me was one hike along the I-215 Eastern Beltway Trail to discover it. From the moment that I set eyes on it while walking along its eastern border on the I-215 Eastern Beltway Trail on that rainy January afternoon, I was determined to check this out in the near future. That near future was yesterday on March 27, 2019 in the beginning of Spring.   It was a breeze arriving here. Access to the campus and gardens is off Maryland Parkway/Paradise Road. It is the first driveway immediately north of Windmill Lane. On a Wednesday afternoon parking was plentiful in both parking lots. So were the plants.   As soon as I entered the fenced in garden, I was surrounded by a spectrum of plants and colorful walkways. Although I arrived days before the peak of the spring bloom, the gardens were charming and captivating. With the descriptive plaques proving the names and species of the nearby plants and trees this was also a unique learning experience. The gardens exposed me to plants that I never heard of like the Texas Mountain Laurel. Each turn along the walkway filled my senses. And my camera lenses.! It was fun photographing a Texas Mountain Laurel under a distant snowcapped Mount Charleston or under an I-215 Exit sign. Throughout the garden were shaded areas including a bench beneath a mature African Sumac tree. And throughout the garden were blooming plants including the Desert Green Cassia and July Elberta Peach. A natural wash bordered by a rainbow of plants weaved through the center of the property. Towering above the trees and plants was what looks like a wooden teepee. There is nothing like art to complement a garden.   For several minutes, I upped my serotonin level while reducing my blood pressure level. I didn't have to go in the meditation garden to cleanse my senses. Walking in the garden did the job.  Now that the secret is out, I highly recommend that if you are in the area to take a time out to escape the hustle and bustle to relax with nature in this garden. Now, lets keep this secret amungst ourselves. We want this to remain a serene spot. At any rate, I highly recommend checking out this garden spot in the spring when it is in the height of the bloom. If you really want to capture the ultimate Las Vegas garden experience I suggest combining it with the Ethel M Cactus Garden in Henderson.

Another time I had specifically said that we would be doing reading on single hour days and it was somehow forgotten and they did math instead , which is not why I started tutoring to begin with. It is too soon to tell if there will be an improvement in reading. I do appreciate that everyone is very kind and helpful. It's a mixed bag right now, but I think I would be less critical if it wasn't so expensive. I will definitely update this review once I can assess progress.

I spoke with Margot, the Director, regarding my son's learning differences and she was very understanding and accommodating. After my son came in for an assessment she recommended two tutors that would work best with my son, Amy and Ms Jessie. My son loved them. But, what impressed me the most was the fact that Margot recommended other tutoring facilities, and specialized learning programs, for my son just in case he needed a more comprehensive learning program. Her gesture made me feel that my son's educational well being meant more to her than just profit for the company. For the 5 weeks that my son attended Tutoring Club, he loved it. In the end though, I did end up enrolling him in a special needs program for kids with learning disabilities. But, if my son ever needs tutoring again, when he's older, I will definitely have him go back to the wonderful staff at Tutoring Club.

We were struggling with my 7-year old daughter, who was exhibiting severe social and behavioral problems and getting suspended from 1st grade on a consistent basis. Susan explained the science behind Brain Balance and touted her 30 years of experience in Child Development. In that consultation, she insured that our daughter would be working with professionals that had experience similar to hers. She also insured that her staff would be working directly with my daughter's teacher and the school's administration to develop a customized plan for her needs so that all of us could collectively be on the same page. Being that we were in an extremely vulnerable state, I felt like this might be a way to help our daughter. Boy, was I wrong. The services at Brain Balance were absolutely nothing as they were described. The lessons that she attended at the center were a complete joke. The instructors are extremely young, clearly have no experience in child development. I don't see the point of touting your 30-years of child development experience if you have no intention of ever actually working with the kids yourself, but I found that this is a strategic part of her sales pitch. The most critical reason for me working with Brain Balance was the work they said they were going to do with the school and her teacher. Danielle was the person in Susan's office that was supposed to be working with my Daughter's school. I was told that they would be reaching out to her school right away to begin setting up meetings. Two weeks later, my daughter had been suspended 2 more times. I called Danielle and begged her to please make this a priority. So, she called and coordinated a time to meet with my daughter's teacher. On the day of the meeting, Danielle did a "no-call/ no-show" on my daughter's teacher. And she still hadn't made any effort to reach out to the Principal, who she also assured me she would meet. When I asked Susan what was going on, she said that Danielle forgot about the appointment because she was busy. So, instead of actually making it all happen, all Susan did was call her teacher and have a pointless 20-minute conversation asking her questions that we had already covered in our initial consultation. It's about this time that I'm beginning to feel like I have been completely ripped off of my money. TOTAL COST OF THE 18-MONTH PROGRAM: $10,900 FEE FOR INITIAL CONSULTATION: $295 (In addition to the $10,900) PAYMENT TERMS: The entire program was to be paid, in full, within 6 months. As part of the 6-month payment option, they required $3,270 as a down payment, then she would charge 6 equal installments for the remaining balance. SHE'S TRYING TO KEEP THE ENTIRE 6-MONTHS OF TUITION WHEN WE WERE ONLY THERE A MONTH AND A HALF: I cancelled after my daughter had attended 15 sessions because this was a colossal waste of time and money and I have been fighting a dispute to get my money back for over 6 months. (CAUTION: There's a reason they require so much up front!!!) To provide a comparison for you, I have since moved my child over to a licensed psychiatrist who charges us $150 per month. There wasn't a down payment at all or any additional fees that could prevent us from seeking alternative methods for my child, should we find that she isn't the best fit for her, like we experienced at Brain Balance. The results have been astounding in a very short amount of time with the licensed professional. Trust me when I tell you, I know how vulnerable you are right now and how awful it is to be going through this with your child. This place will prey on those vulnerabilities. For your family...seek other alternatives. I wouldn't want anyone to experience what we have.
