Devonshire Arms is really an eating pub, they didn't have any ales on tap except Robinsons. Whole atmosphere is pleasant albeit cookie cutter Robinsons renovation. The food is a mixture of nicely done pub grub and some more adventurous options. I went for the Whitby scampi as its very hard for me not to order scampi if its one the menu. I think the chips were homemade and it was all well cooked and a generous portion. In keeping with the terrible economic times, this simple meal was £14. I got a side of onion rings too, these are big and a little oily but I think most people would enjoy them. Husband has the pork belly skewers special which was fine but didn't blow him away flavour wise, also the way the pork belly was cut made it hard to balance the meat and fat in a forkful. Servers were really nice and food came quickly, we did need to be assertive about drinks orders though. Good choice if you're in the area but not for a special journey. read more
