We spent some time talking and he was happy to look at another of our trees. This time the news was much better and he gave some free advice. He gave a very fair quote along with all the other info I needed to make a decision. When he drove away, I was convinced I had found the right guy. But my wife wanted other quotes, so I wasted time doing that before I had her blessing to get on the Simply Trees calendar. We got squeezed in much earlier than expected and today the crew showed up and did their thing. They were friendly, careful, professional, & fast. From the time we moved in, we've been able to rely on Seth Bihun and the team at Total Tree Care for so many tree issues--a couple have been struck by lightning, some needed pruning when they grew over the patio, the derecho hit two years ago and one split down the middle, and just this week we had two enormous white pines removed after they dropped HUGE branches in a wind storm. This has happened a couple of times. Hated to see them go, but it was time. For small jobs like trimming or putting in a cable to large jobs like the the removal of two forty-foot tall pines this week, it's so reassuring to know we're dealing with a certified arborist and a team of professionals who are experts at what they are doing and who take pride in helping local homeowners take care of their trees. Two tremenous cranes and several trucks pulled up at 8 AM, and by about 11 AM. the trees were gone and the yard was as clean as a whistle. Every branch was removed from the trees first, and then the enormous trunks were dismantled in sections from the top down. The cranes lifted the sections straight into the wood chipper, so there was no mess at all. First,an estimator comes to your house, photographs the tree(s) to be trimmed or removed, and you receive a bid online for the job so there are no surprises. You know when they will come (the communication is always prompt and polite), you know what you will pay, and you can be confident your job will be done well by experts. If you're a homeowner who has trees, you WILL need to know a reliable, responsible company who can help you when you need it. For us over the past three and a half decades, that company has been Total Tree Care. Our neighbors have had great tree service over many years, too. In the middle of the operation, a large branch which was being lowered scraped the edge of my roof, damaging the shingles. With my own eyes I saw the accident happen. I complained about this to Eli, but though he had not been there himself he claimed his workers had not caused the damage. He threatened to take his men and equipment home, and leave my yard full of tree debris. Faced with an impossible choice, I agreed to have him continue the work. When I spoke with the company owner, Mr. Emmanuel Pedroza, he too refused to take responsibility for the thousand-dollar cost of repairing my roof. This company may know enough about cutting trees, but it does not back up its promises. Eli had said they would treat my roof "as though it were a power line," being careful not to touch it. Instead, his workers carelessly let a branch brush my roof and break its shingles. Employ this company IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT LOSING MONEY.

Mick makes an effort to assess a job and offer cost efficient approaches. He is very knowledgeable about trees, their overall health and general life span. His crew is hard working and they work well together. They are friendly, but don't chat on forever--they get to work. Our yard is always left clean, wood stacked from the felled tree, and little imprint left. One thing: Mick is not someone who spends a lot of time on his phone. Don't leave him phone messages. Texting will get through to him but maybe at the end of the day. The reason is, he's working. That's a plus as far as I'm concerned-- he works and doesn't spend time checking his phone.
