Great selection of beers. Good service. Family and dog friendly. Reminds me of the pubs in England!

This was our second time stopping in here and nothing had changed. We were so happy to spend a day hiking with the dogs and then to be able to stop in for some amazing beer flights and grilled-to-order hot dogs. My husband and I each got a flight of beers to try and a classic hotdog with onion and peppers added, though I opted for mustard as an additional topping and he opted for sauerkraut. We got each of our pups a plain hotdog and the man at the food truck was so sweet and pre-cut them into pieces for us to feed them. We can't wait to come back a third time, they are just so good! Staff is always super friendly as well. The bathrooms are clean and have really fun chalkboard walls to leave funny messages or cute memories. I wholly recommend stopping in here for a well-deserved drink after being outside all day. read more

Over all rating 8/10 I went in mid September last year. Thought about writing a review this weekend. Beer is excellent. They had a seasonal pumpkin beer that was as good as siting by the fire on a nice autumn day. Although they use a food truck on the outside it seemed as if they went hand in hand. Never felt like I didn't know what to do. Bartender was easy to talk to and helped me locate how to purchase a pony keg of the pumpkin beer if I wanted to. Although the outside may be intimidating I promise you it's worth the visit. Inside is on the smaller side but the outside is perfect for an afternoon weekend beer and food. (Games outside for the little ones) Food was rather a surprise, they serve hot dogs aswell as pierogies! Who would have thought! Hot dogs were better than most I've ever had, and perogies were decent. Biggest thing I'd recommend is getting another plate, your plate gets pretty packed and hard to work off of. But good was above average and beer was excellent! Devil's Kettle is a newer brewery in Athens. It's not as popular as Jackie O's, but that's because they haven't been around forever. The brewery is located far from the campus craziness, so it's easy to overlook. It makes a much mellower atmosphere. The selection is very good for a brewery of its size. I had a Baum Faller. It's not one of the hoppier beers, and it's kind of sweet. The menu features hoppy, sweet, and wheat. It's about $5 for a pint of anything. This is good considering the quality. Among the best things about this place is the location. The brewery is located in the northern part of Athens on Columbus Road. It's not rowdy like any of the campus bars. The Jackie O's Pub also gets crazy sometimes. Because this is far away from that, you can hold a conversation. Something tricky with it would be parking. It was hard to know which one was the correct lot. There was a part blocked off, and there's a few no parking signs. If you're tired of the campus crap try going to this brewery. It's in a quieter part of Athens. The quality is better than anything you can get from there. read more

My boyfriend has been to Devil's Kettle and wanted to take me. We went on a Sunday afternoon (Mother's Day) and it wasn't so packed. Loved the simple décor (especially the bathroom! The walls are chalkboard and you can write what ever you want) and music is played by vinyl. We definitely wanted to do a tasting. So we got the flight of 5: -Devil's Paw- 100% Brettanomyces Fermented Blonde Ale with PawPaw Pulp. -Baum Faller- Slight Toasty Copper Lager that is malty with a hint of sweetness. -Pale Satan- Pale Ale with English Malt and Citrusy hop flavor -Galatea Dunkel- German Style Dark Lager with hints of dry chocolate maltiness. -Bourbon Barrel Demon Blood- Imperial Stout and one of my favorites. My favorite was the Galatea Dunkel and Bourbon Barel Demon Blood. They do have Growlers and merchandise. Service was great!! I definitely will be back! read more

The barrel aged beers tho! Oh em gee you need to come here. From Columbus? DRIVE! It's worth it. Visited Devil's Kettle Brewing during Ohio Brew Week, located right outside of town on Columbus Road off 33 & they have quite a selection of beers to sample. The bar is beautiful handcrafted wood, probably one of the most beautiful bars I've seen ever in a brewery & love the guitars on the walls. Our server was friendly, gave us time to review the beer selection and went with a flight of 5 to try - Amber, 97 Columbus, Down with Logic, Gemini & Legion. I enjoyed the Down with Logic the best, I'm a hop head, love hoppy beers & plus it being a hoppy red ale. read more

Stopped in here just before closing with 6 other friends after our hike in hocking hills. The owner was thinking of closing up but he stayed open (even after closing time) for us. We all got a different flight and thoroughly enjoyed all their offerings (IPAs, Stouts, Brown ales and Barrel aged beers). You can tell he enjoys his craft and will tell you about the unique hops he uses etc. Close to Athens so def stop by here and Jackie O's. We enjoyed the flight of nine, focaccia pizza, and Athen's ever present hot nuts (spicy cashews). The bar maid and Cameron, the brewmaster and owner, were great to talk to. We enjoyed the laid back, child free atmosphere. We had read that it was a little hard to see from the road, but our eyes were peeled for it! My favorite beer was the porter. I ordered a pint of it. It was super smooth. My enjoyed pint of the Oktoberbeast. Devil's Kettle is a great addition to the Athens brew scene! We hope to see them on tap in Marietta. Considering the competition Devil's Kettle has in the small town of Athens, they really hold their own. We really liked their beers and they had a few experimental flavors that seemed to work for us! A couple next to us got a flight of 10 beers, which was impressive, and they really seemed to like all of them. Between my husband and I we tried probably 6 (between flights and a full pint or two) and really liked them! There is a food truck permanently outside with some awesome burgers - the Kitchen Burger was great and my husband loved the smoked fries. They allow dogs inside and I always love that, makes the place more inviting. read more

Some of my favorite beers in Athens! If you need a break from the busyness of OU bars and restaurants, Devil's Kettle is a great option. Awesome selection of beers in a much quieter, low key space. The food options (mostly hot dogs/sausages) are decent but the beer is definitely the reason to come. read more

The tasting room is pretty small and very contemporary with dark wood throughout. However, there is an eclectic display of decor on the walls - everything from quilts to electric guitars. It just does not have a Brewery feel but was very clean. The beer is tasty. I had the Dunkel which had a rich malty flavor and clean after taste. It's a good place but lacks character. read more

I've been a fan since this place opened, and my fondness for Cameron and his brews just grows with every visit. He's hands-down the best lager brewer in town. He does classic styles really well - no gimmicks, nothing fancy, just really good beer. His lagers are exemplary, and his ales are clean and balanced. Take a look around at the woodwork while you're there; the brewer is also a wood craftsman. He's put a lot of obvious love into the place. This is a nice break from the fratty atmosphere of Court Street. Come here if you feel like drinking good beer like a grownup. read more

I've driven past Devil's Kettle many times, always with intrigue. I finally decided to make the move and go see what the little exterior had to offer! Upon first arriving, I was immediately taken by the cozy patio area, surrounding by stone walls and a little food truck propped in the corner. The space was lively and energetic, but at the same time relaxed. I loved the idea of an outside vendor catering the food; food trucks have always been a favorite of mine. The inside of the brewery/bar itself carried the vibe from the patio. The dark, heavy wood traveled throughout the interior, from the floors to the bar to the shelving, it was cohesively designed. Splashes of a deep red were pulled into the design as well, creating an overall relaxing atmosphere. The bartender was extremely kind and helpful, and he took his time giving us recommendations according to our beer preferences. I ordered the Spider Silk, an imperial blonde, and it was actually quite delicious. I left with the desire to return soon and bring along some more friends. The space gave off a great mood that I definitely want to experience more of. read more

This micro brewery is top notch, the brews are outstanding. I have been reluctant to visit, but I am glad I drove out here, they're doing some truly exceptional brews. This particular evening, they had partnered with PORK AND PICKLES another Athens business, for PORK,PICKLES AND PINTS tasting event, they very successfully paired each other's products, for a true taste experience. Nice little tap room with some excellent beers. I really liked the beer with ginger in it, very unique. You can tell the owner put a lot of effort into creating this space, and there's a photo album on the bar to prove it. Our first bartender here was great, we chatted with him about craft beer all over Ohio, then the new bartender arrived and she wasn't too friendly. Friends we were there with said she was like that last time, too. Too bad, as the place pretty much cleared out when she arrived, may have been a coincidence, but we sure didn't feel like we needed to stick around. Usually I love coming in to Devils Kettle, but recently every time the same female employee is working they're closed early. Stopped by tonight just to fill a growler with great local beer, but at 7:45 she refused to serve me. I'll stop by in the future if I'm passing though, unfortunately it will no longer be my destination. read more

While all three local Athens breweries are very good, Devil's Kettle is by far my favorite. I find the selection and quality superior to Little Fish, and yes, even to the more established Jackie O's. I find Cameron to be about as down to earth as anyone involved in craft brewing. I rate his brewery best in Athens because he offers not only the usual ales and IPA's that are so prevalent, but also multiple lagers and non-hoppy traditional German and English ales. He also usually has a nitro beer on tap. It's a very diverse selection. While he offers the occasional unique beer like a bourbon barrel style, he doesn't get caught up excessively in some of the silly microbrew trends featuring ridiculous combinations of fruits, trees and pastries. (Let's face it, those beers always suck) His flagship is an outstanding blond colored ale called "Spider Silk" which is smooth and tasty. Like Jerry Hall in her prime. For ambiance, the bar top at Devil's Kettle is the most unique in Ohio. It's made from diverse wood types puzzled together to create a stunning look of beauty. Devil's Kettle is a great place for conversation and the tunes, while on low, are outstanding. Everyone working behind the bar has a unique musical appreciation and they show it in the music they play. There is a tv, but generally you have to ask them to turn it on. You won't have to scream over anyone to have a conversation. There isn't any food other than some homemade pretzels (very good) or the occasional food truck, but OMG chicken is about 50 yards down the road and I think they deliver. Cameron lets you bring in your own food when he doesn't have a food truck, so it all works out. Devil's Kettle is a hidden gem in Athens and worth a visit! read more
