I love this place so much! If you haven't tried it, you absolutely have to come. They are so talented and know how to prove everything from Hopkins, Wheat, Sauer 's, IPA and barrel aged barley wines! What are you waiting for?

Devil's Kettle is a newer brewery in Athens. It's not as popular as Jackie O's, but that's because they haven't been around forever. The brewery is located far from the campus craziness, so it's easy to overlook. It makes a much mellower atmosphere. The selection is very good for a brewery of its size. I had a Baum Faller. It's not one of the hoppier beers, and it's kind of sweet. The menu features hoppy, sweet, and wheat. It's about $5 for a pint of anything. This is good considering the quality. Among the best things about this place is the location. The brewery is located in the northern part of Athens on Columbus Road. It's not rowdy like any of the campus bars. The Jackie O's Pub also gets crazy sometimes. Because this is far away from that, you can hold a conversation. Something tricky with it would be parking. It was hard to know which one was the correct lot. There was a part blocked off, and there's a few no parking signs. If you're tired of the campus crap try going to this brewery. It's in a quieter part of Athens. The quality is better than anything you can get from there.

My boyfriend has been to Devil's Kettle and wanted to take me. We went on a Sunday afternoon (Mother's Day) and it wasn't so packed. Loved the simple décor (especially the bathroom! The walls are chalkboard and you can write what ever you want) and music is played by vinyl. We definitely wanted to do a tasting. So we got the flight of 5: -Devil's Paw- 100% Brettanomyces Fermented Blonde Ale with PawPaw Pulp. -Baum Faller- Slight Toasty Copper Lager that is malty with a hint of sweetness. -Pale Satan- Pale Ale with English Malt and Citrusy hop flavor -Galatea Dunkel- German Style Dark Lager with hints of dry chocolate maltiness. -Bourbon Barrel Demon Blood- Imperial Stout and one of my favorites. My favorite was the Galatea Dunkel and Bourbon Barel Demon Blood. They do have Growlers and merchandise. Service was great!! I definitely will be back!

Beer flight

Beer was on point, I did a flight. Service a little slow. I didn't try the food truck.

Visited Devil's Kettle Brewing during Ohio Brew Week, located right outside of town on Columbus Road off 33 & they have quite a selection of beers to sample. The bar is beautiful handcrafted wood, probably one of the most beautiful bars I've seen ever in a brewery & love the guitars on the walls. Our server was friendly, gave us time to review the beer selection and went with a flight of 5 to try - Amber, 97 Columbus, Down with Logic, Gemini & Legion. I enjoyed the Down with Logic the best, I'm a hop head, love hoppy beers & plus it being a hoppy red ale.

Stopped in here just before closing with 6 other friends after our hike in hocking hills. The owner was thinking of closing up but he stayed open (even after closing time) for us. We all got a different flight and thoroughly enjoyed all their offerings (IPAs, Stouts, Brown ales and Barrel aged beers). You can tell he enjoys his craft and will tell you about the unique hops he uses etc. Close to Athens so def stop by here and Jackie O's. No food other than chips but looks like you can bring your own.

The tasting room is pretty small and very contemporary with dark wood throughout. However, there is an eclectic display of decor on the walls - everything from quilts to electric guitars. It just does not have a Brewery feel but was very clean. The beer is tasty. I had the Dunkel which had a rich malty flavor and clean after taste. It's a good place but lacks character.

I've been a fan since this place opened, and my fondness for Cameron and his brews just grows with every visit. He's hands-down the best lager brewer in town. He does classic styles really well - no gimmicks, nothing fancy, just really good beer. His lagers are exemplary, and his ales are clean and balanced. Take a look around at the woodwork while you're there; the brewer is also a wood craftsman. He's put a lot of obvious love into the place. This is a nice break from the fratty atmosphere of Court Street. Come here if you feel like drinking good beer like a grownup.

I've driven past Devil's Kettle many times, always with intrigue. I finally decided to make the move and go see what the little exterior had to offer! Upon first arriving, I was immediately taken by the cozy patio area, surrounding by stone walls and a little food truck propped in the corner. The space was lively and energetic, but at the same time relaxed. I loved the idea of an outside vendor catering the food; food trucks have always been a favorite of mine. The inside of the brewery/bar itself carried the vibe from the patio. The dark, heavy wood traveled throughout the interior, from the floors to the bar to the shelving, it was cohesively designed. Splashes of a deep red were pulled into the design as well, creating an overall relaxing atmosphere. The bartender was extremely kind and helpful, and he took his time giving us recommendations according to our beer preferences. I ordered the Spider Silk, an imperial blonde, and it was actually quite delicious. I left with the desire to return soon and bring along some more friends. The space gave off a great mood that I definitely want to experience more of.

I highly recommend this brewery, if you like great beers.

Great selection of beers. Good service. Family and dog friendly. Reminds me of the pubs in England!

Great atmosphere with outstanding patio. Wish there were more non-alcoholic options. Also wish the water had ice. Best bathroom in town

Food: My oh my whoever created this menu needs serious help. We started with the Mac & Cheese Eggrolls, who EVER thought this would be a good idea? It was like eating a kids science experiment, it just doesn't work. I'm a vegetarian. They advertise vegetarian options, yet they were out of everything except.... "Cauliflower Wings." The batter tasted like it was deep fried in the same fryer as the chicken wings, and it was definitely frozen cauliflower peices and not fresh- I took 3 bites and couldn't finish, plus just like the entres most of the vegetarian sauces were out. The sweet & spicy was nasty. My husband got a burger, and while that man eats everything... he took one bite and never picked it up again. Burger was soggy, meat was definitely cooked frozen, and the ranch was sour. They gave us chips, which were chewy, stale, and flavor was not there. And while everything tasted absoultely terrible, we thought we could save the day with dessert. Cheesecake. Who doesn't LOVE cheesecake. We ordered the specialty SMORES Cheesecake. That pile of chemical slop tasted like play-doh, we had one bite and we watched as our waitress picked up an entire table of full plates without batting an eye. Price: For 1 APP, 2 Entrees, and 1 Dessert totaling $77 you'd expect something... decent. But this place ruined all our expectations. Conclusion: Is is worth coming? MAYBE, but only for the live music outside, food- you should order from somewhere else. WILL WE BE GOING BACK? NO.

My son graduated from Ohio University and we made a reservation for a party of 12. Despite that reservation, there was a considerable wait (about an hour) but that's not why I'm writing this review. We traveled from Pittsburgh to celebrate my son, so I brought a specially made cake from a local bakery that he loves. I asked the manager if we could serve that cake after the meal and not only did he decline, he was very rude. Even after I reminded him that we were on the verge of spending close to $1000 in his restaurant he would make no exception. I didn't make a fuss but after our meal when the waitress asked if we wanted dessert, we had a good laugh and said uhhhh no thank you. I hope the potential handful of desserts you thought we might be forced to buy was worth this one star review.

We were advised that they do take online reservations, so I'd most recommend that before making the drive out. We got seated on their patio and the views were absolutely gorgeous. I know the weather has nothing to do with the restaurant but if you get a chance to come here on a beautiful day and sit outside, it's truly an amazing experience. The service was nice, the man who was serving wine walked us through their offerings and helped up pick bottles we'd like. Our food server was also friendly and on top of making sure everything was going well. I do always appreciate when places leave me a pitcher or carafe of iced tea, because I really do go through my drinks like I was just lost in a desert for a week. The menu does change, when we were there the duck entree did look very tempting but ultimately I went with a chicken Caesar salad and French onion soup. Both were delicious and paired nicely with the complementary bread and garlic oil. I was very satisfied after my meal and I actually quite enjoyed my glass of wine. I'm not crazy about wine but the bobcat blush was sweet and delicious. I really hope I get to visit here again!

We ordered two drinks, a Moscow mule and N/A beer; the cashew queso, the deconstructed chicken cordon bleu, and the brisket mac and cheese. Drinks were great. The queso was super thick and more like a black bean dip, so that didn't hit right. Dinner arrived and looked great, but the chicken was bland and really just felt like a chunk of meat to get through. The mac and cheese was OK, but be aware it is covered in a sweet BBQ sauce and is more of a braised brisket than smoked BBQ. Our server was great, and the atmosphere was great. But all of that above decent at best food came to a total of around $100 (just about $30 per entree) for a party of two. My wife and I go about once a year for a meal that expensive and it is not for the quality of food we spent at 58 West. I'd say 58W needs to either lower their prices or the consumer needs to lower their expectations and head somewhere else.

You will have to try to sweet potato fries with the delicious cream cheese dip. Pairs well with the maple beer.
