When I told him it was my mother's emotional support animal he said, they're not allowed. I have taken this same dog to this park at least twice and it was never an issue. She has a special collar and identification, we even have a doctor's note. I don't get the fuss and bog deal... In my mother's case, she has PTSD, it's crucial for us to have the dog at all times. If you're an animal lover and cannot leave the house without your service animal, do not waste your time and/ or your $25. This parking fee of what people pay to park at amusement parks lol Never again.

Two dog parks, a huge playground where we had a picnic, horses, a very large cow and many smaller animals in the children's barn. Plenty of space to run around and very nice, clean restrooms. We went on a Tuesday, so there were no parking or admission fees. We will definitely go back in the warmer weather. What a Gem!

I feel badly saying this, but when we pulled up from the GPS, we laughed. The lighthouse is a very minimal, old, not inviting, colorless structure. There's almost no public seating. There are barely any signs explaining the area. It has so much potential but none of it is utilized. A lot of tourists were milling about with similar confusion. On a funnier note, a local here told me that Marblehead, MA will sometimes use a lighthouse photo of the one from my state in Marblehead, OH because they also agree there's is disappointing. Three stars for the surrounding waters if you're not used to seeing water.

It's located behind an industrial park so don't get discouraged if you look for it. There are no facilities so be aware. They do have a small boathouse and a set of kayaks so perhaps they will be for rent? Also, the city seems to be investing in the park as there is a large area marked as a native plant meadow and butterfly garden. So far, the non-native vegetation removal seems to be underway. But, planting of native butterfly host plants and pollinators has not started. Once this is done, it will make for a fantastic butterfly garden along the river! I'd recommend coming back in six months or a year and seeing where this stands. Perhaps they are accepting volunteers to hasten the transformation of this area? Life is good with bold plans!

There are two "lots" available for parking as well as the street which depending on when you go, is not too bad. (Do not park in the church lot to the left of the spots by the playground). Can't say that I have seen the sunrise, but the sunsets are beautiful. In the summer sometimes you can rent out kayaks or pedal boats. There are two playgrounds for kids (one by church lot, other by honeydew side). Really pretty to see during the different seasons. Definitely recommend if you're looking for somewhere outdoors to exercise, sit in the sun, enjoy a picnic, etc.

Not completely wilderness since train (commuter rail) is just down the hill of this park, but still nice to be outside. Not too far from downtown: I combined with exploring downtown Salem.
