This is a cute spot to have a beer downtown Sanford. We went in on a Friday afternoon after grabbing dinner. When you first walk in, the place feels cozy and inviting as if you were inside a cabin with all the wood accents including picnic tables and high tops. There's also an area for kids with video games. If you need food, you can place an order from the business next door at the bar. They have pizzas, cheesesteaks and hot dogs. There was a workshop happening that evening about bat conservation, it was interesting. I later learned that they host different community workshops once a month. My favorite brewery in Sanford, I could go on and on about the different things to try and order but I will focus on one to highlight why you should give them a visit. Sourmanjaro is a literal mind fuck beer in the best way possible. I'm not a sour person, I prefer dark dark beer with a heavy hint of alcohol like a baltic porter, but this was my gateway to trying another strain of beer types. Imagine a beer which is slightly sour on the front but with a pure coffee type finish on the end (hence the mind fuck) and it is amazing and yet refreshing for a beer with those flavors. I have probably had everything they have released since and the quality of their beer is so high even beers not my type I enjoy and love to try. The bar is very large and inviting, The multiple times we have been there there has only been one bartender and a lot of customers so it's been delayed service, but I can understand with the quality product they serve. I've tried many of their beers, and sours which all tasted amazing. The sours aren't over powering and are semi mellow. They have a small, personal menu selection. I would love to, personally, see a larger sour option with ranges of sour. Their red ale is also very delicious. No matter your preference you're likely to find something, of quality, that you will like. Overall, I was overly excited to find a local brewery not far from our house who crafts sour beers. It's definitely worth the visit if you're in the Sanford area and craving beer. It has become our go to beer joint since moving to Orlando. read more

There were also a few tables to sit at, but ordering had to be done at the bar it seemed. There was a limited food menu, but outside food could be brought it. The soft pretzel ($6) was ordered. It came with a spicy brown mustard. I thought the pretzel was going to be a little bigger, but it was still tasty. It came out hot and went well with the thick mustard. It had plenty of salt, but not overly done. It went well with the number of cocktails and beers sampled. Will I go back? Easily. read more

Not that every brew joint needs a gimmick or something, but you should probably make an effort. Whenever we plan a day for lunch and drinks in Sanford Deviant Wolfe is always a stop for us! We love their relaxed atmosphere inside and they always have a good variety of craft beers on tap. They also have some of their beers in cans for sale and you can create your own four pack, which I love so my husband and I can each pick what style we want. Our last day in Orlando brought us up to Sanford to visit a few breweries. The last being Deviant Wolfe on the main street going through the downtown area, a block or two from a lake. I had heard of Deviant Wolfe but never the opportunity to sample their beers. Overall, my excursion was a solid one. The brick-walled taproom was spacious with bar seating, communal tables, a lounge area with sofas and chairs, and counter seating that allowed you to look outside onto the downtown strip while enjoying a beer. As you make your way down to the bathroom, they have a strip of wall set aside for hanging up various medals. Per the sign, you can donate a medal, selfie yourself with it on the wall, tag the brewery and yourself on their page, and receive a free beer. Had I known that, I would have not thrown out the various medals from my days at overnight camp. But I digress. I enjoyed a flight and sampled some other beers in the name of shits and giggles. The standouts were Pineapple Troll Cake (my favorite) and Cry Me a Raspberry. I could have the former on most days, filling me with all sorts of delight and eternal happiness. The latter, while not a big fan of raspberries, was very good, poignant, and precise. The others I tried were hit or miss: the Sour Not Sorry was solid, while the Hailstorm didn't sit well with me unfortunately as I found it too light and smokey. The Red Rye was ok, but nothing to write home about, whereas the Coconut Inquisition was solid and toasty -- bringing out hopes of a better tomorrow. I'd have to double check which beer of which I brought back a crowler, but overall, we enjoyed our time at Deviant Wolfe before heading back to South Florida. A very cool spot to hangout and enjoy some brews while engaged in this romper room we call life. read more

Having gone here now two times, going just recently for their 4th anniversary celebration alongside my first visit last year. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. If I was a local I would be a regular here because all the brews I have tried from them have been very solid. They have a good amount of taps and offer flights to allow you to try a wide variety of beers. The taproom is somewhat smaller than some others I've been to before but have a good amount of seating. Was excited to try their special tappings for their 4th anniversary beers (PB&J Sour, Carrot Cake Sour, and a 11%+ Imperial S'mores Stout). They also share local art for sale on their walls if you want some artwork for home. If you are local or visiting the area give this place a visit. Nice as well because there are also a few other breweries within walking distance from here as well. Make a day of it! read more

Deviant Wolf was my first brew stop in Sanford Florida. I actually passed by it first intending to stop, but there were some rowdy young people outside drinking when I first arrived, so I decided to grab a bite at Mister Zs which is two doors away before my visit. After my meal I stopped and and was immediately impressed. Not by the decor which was quite eclectic if I could describe it any way. There was a display of tied knots in a glass display which was the bar. A putting green and many references to rock climbing as I remember. The beer was decent, in fact quite good. My only criticism is everything was mid ABV 5-6% and the higher ABV beer was a bottle which they were selling for about $25 I think. The service was great and the young beertender serving was both knowledgeable and engaging. It was early in the day and the bar was full, but the place was about 25% full. What I liked most was their choice of music which was old school R&B circa 1980s, but I am sure they change it up. Still it made for a really pleasant beer experience and when I get back to Sanford and I will, I will definitely be paying Deviant Wolf another visit. read more

Love this place. Honestly, I wasn't sure if I even wanted to go in when standing outside. On the outside there isn't anything that would attract you to it. It's just another store front, but since we drove an hour to specifically knock this one (and a couple others in Sanford) off the Central Florida Ale Trail list we sucked it up. So glad we did!!! The inside is open with lots of natural light. There were high top tables and chairs, leather sofas, picknick tables and benches, bar seating, and lots of funky wall art; some of it was even for sale. There was hand sanitizer on every table and masks were mandatory when moving about. We started at a little table inside but then moved our party of 2 out front where there are a couple small high-top tables against the wall. It was great for people watching, enjoying the weather, and we even had a few short conversations with people as they walked by asking about the beer. Don't worry Deviant Wolfe, we gave you high praise. The bartender was nice and helpful, explaining the different beers. Poor guy was all by himself though and he could have used some help when things got a little busy with people waiting in line behind the bar (at a safe 6' distance). My husband and I each got a flight, and therefore was able to try 10 beers (really 9 because he got one that I also got). WOW! Really, Wow! All of the beers we got were pretty heavy, and ALL were excellent. I was really impressed with the quality of their beers. I am far from a beer sommelier, but in my opinion the beer overall was aromatic, robust, and well balanced. I'm a fan! Beers we tried: Red Rye Amber Ale 5.1% Any Way the Wind Blows Bohemian Pilsner 4.6% New Zealand Wizard Crisis 6.6% Bruiser J Pale Ale 5.7% Exterior Illumination German Bock 6.8% Bete Noir black Saison 8% Sourmanjaro Coffee Sour Blonde Ale 5% Coconut Stout 8% Chocula Imperial Stout 9.3% They have weekly events that look pretty cool, to include happy hour specials, and Namaste for a Beer Yoga on Sunday morning. Fantastic local brewery situated in downtown Sanford. They frequently run specials which is different from most breweries and they do beer pairings. I have been to a Halloween candy beer pairing and a Holiday cookie beer pairing. Both were delicious and unique. They also have a coffee sour beer called Sourmanjaro. It sounds strange, but it is now one of my favorite beers! They have fun trivia nights as well. As far as food goes, you can bring your own take-out and eat it there or they have nearby businesses that will deliver food to you at no charge. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and welcoming. So I have been here a couple of times now. Really digging the relaxed vibe in here. Saw some other reviews mentioning the slow service and people crowding you at the bar. Have never experienced this in such a laid back place with wide open space. Service is attentive yet relaxed. Chill brah, chill. The interior is a minimalist brick wall, mural wall, high ceiling, and open bar seating. It's modern and rustic with sofas and picnic type tables. Not the sort of place you rush in and out of really, but instead sit and savor a craft IPA or other brew. I really recommend their Sourmanjaro, it's a sour IPA that looks like apple juice but reminiscent of coffee, it's deliciously confusing, order it! A friend gave me a heads up on this new brewery in Sanford, and we met up for a beer or two (or three or four), but I didn't know it was new as in opened 3 days ago... Unfortunately, the brewery had a 9 beer line up, but had sold out of 3 beers already. Of the 6 left, only 3 were Deviant Wolfe beers, the other 3 were guest taps (of good beer, if you want to know). They also had wine, so it was not a total calamity. The 3 beers I tasted, all brewed on the premises, were very good and innovative. This is what most would call an experimental brewery, something that we are definitively in need in the Central Florida area. I see myself driving this way a lot, specially since some of the other breweries are so hyped up and always packed with raunchy drunkards. read more

Looks and feels like any other standard brewery but it's best to look at the details!! First off I love how open the inside, air-conditioned space is. It's community seating for the most part, a bar area, and side seating. The mountain painting on the main wall is GORGEOUS and the other main wall is the beautiful restored brick wall. Their beer menu is CRAZY. Obviously not a huge variety because they are still in their beginning phase, and even have guest taps on hand. Their beers are like nothing you've ever tried before. Their sourmanjaro is a coffee SOUR! English nut brown is a darker coffee beer. Their third beer on their menu at the moment was also a coffee flavor beer but with sweet hints of flowers and fruity- I wish I had taken a photo of the menu but I had forgotten. The whole concept is truly based around recycling and resusing products. All of their tables are up cycled wood, and even their coasters are made of cardboard boxes. I LOOOOOVE this as I can only imagine how wasteful any beer business can be.
