Before I even entered the building, I saw, first hand how a staff member responded to a resident in need. The resident was enjoying the fresh air outside and had taken a fall in rounding the corner. I didn't see the actual fall but as I got out of my car, I saw that he was on the ground and bleeding on his forearm, rushed over to him as he was on his hands and knees in the driveway. I told him I would stay with him until help arrived. Just then a staff member was pulling into the parking lot, likely to start her shift. She saw us, immediately pulled her car up behind the resident to block/protect him from anyone else that might be driving in, jumped out of her car, rushed over to assess his condition, called for help with a sense of urgency and thanked me for waiting there with him. I was so impressed by the sense of urgency, confidence, obvious great training, empathy, compassion and dignity shown to this resident by this staff member, I knew right away that this organization is special. I've toured many communities in my career in healthcare and now that my family member is involved, I know what to look for. More than a basic, staged "tour" of a community, I actually got to experience what this community does to care for its residents on a daily basis. That, for me, was priceless. A care community is far more than a pretty entrance, with balloons and a grand piano. It's the staff who care for the residents day-to-day that counts. I ended my tour today after having met with management, who were equally as impressive. Arbor Inn gets an A+ plus from me.

The facility called us saying my grandmother was found unresponsive, and they were calling the ambulance. A few minutes later, they called back saying "never mind, she is responsive now. We think she was unresponsive due to the position she was in (slumped over in her wheelchair)." My father requested she be put in bed, and some of the family went up to check on her. We found her still in her wheelchair and still unresponsive. She was unable to open her eyes, she couldn't speak, etc. Had we just taken their word for it, my grandma would have never been medically treated. Additionally, my grandmother waited over an hour in the rehab unit on several occasions when she hit her button to use the bathroom. Then she ended up being put in room where the button didn't work, and she had no way to request for assistance. We met maybe two people that actually cared for her and took good care of her. P.S. be warned, when they say they have nurses on staff during evening hours, they do not. It is aids only, and if you want your loved one to be seen by the doctor, forget about it.

She loved spiritual programming with Laura. Moat of all she enjoyed her apartment with housekeeping services. She claimed she was never going to cook again after moving in and she didn't. On site Dr visits when needed were the icing on the cake. when her health declined and she went out to the hospital she came back to rehab. unfortunately the end was near and she passed away comfortably supported by family and staff. This is not the place you want your elderly family member to be for rehab. My 94 year old mother…read morewas there after a hip fracture, surgery, and a 10 day hospital stay. Prior to her fall she was able to walk with a walker. After 10 days in a hospital bed, she was very weak and barely able to stand. The Bellbrook rehab staff was not very patient with her (despite saying it could take up to a year at her age to recover from her injuries) and after a week decided that she was fearful and unable to stand or walk. She is now totally wheelchair dependent. After being at Bellbrook for 3 weeks, she was told she had to be discharged - despite insurance authorizing her to stay for another week! Discharge planning was abysmal. The care is safe, but not family centered. They do not include the family at all, insisting that family members leave the room, "while they provide care". I suppose if you would like to drop your loved one off and not be involved with their care at all, this would be ok, but it was not ok with me.

It was the most affordable place for my mom when searching for a retirement community and we feel fortunate that she found it. Don't get me wrong though, this facility does have a lot of positives. The front reception desk personnel are friendly and informative, most all of the staff from the aides, med techs, nursing, maintenance, housekeeping, activities etc. are friendly, helpful, attentive and knowledgeable. It's a clean facility with a nice home type feel for their residents. It's very nicely laid out and is very comfortable looking with lots of features like their Mainstreet area with plenty of tables and chairs and a calming waterfall to enjoy when visiting and eating with your loved ones. There's a library and an activities room, a fireplace with chairs to sit by the front entrance, a spacious dining area and multiple chairs and couches in the hallways and much more. The laundry services were spotty when it came to replenishing towels and washcloths. I asked twice for fresh sets for my family member when they were there for a short 3 week respite stay and both times I was told there weren't any. I was able to see inside the laundry room one day when the light were left on and they were definitely backed up on doing the laundry. So I finally brought in a washcloth and towel from home a couple of times. The food seemed so-so, but I can't attest to anything first hand. This was through the resident's own words as I asked day to day while making small talk with them as to how their meals were. The med techs that pass out medications aren't real knowledgeable as to what medications treat what conditions. This lack of knowledge could have been very serious for my family member if we hadn't noticed that they didn't receive some very important medications. We talked about it with the head of nursing and hopefully this type of thing won't happen with another patient. Fortunately it all worked out but still it could have been a very serious issue. I overheard some of the staff a couple of times talking in the elevator about their frustrations. I was surprised that they talked right in front of a family member. I found that to be unprofessional as it should have taken place in the break room or off the clock. The last thing that didn't sit well with me was when my family member said their goodbyes to the staff and got a snide 'see ya' as they walked on past without saying a nicer goodbye. This wasn't the way I wanted my family member to remember their brief stay. It comes down to just being more professional and polite. All in all, I know no place is perfect in every aspect and especially nowadays, keeping any place staffed is a big problem. With a few tweaks as far as the laundry linen shortage, teaching the staff to be more professional and not to discuss residents in front of family members and how to be nicer in general, and lastly teaching the med techs a bit more as far as giving them some quick lessons about what medications treat what conditions, this facility would earn a higher rating from me. Again, these are just my observations from only 3 weeks out of the year, but important ones all the same.

The physical facility is very nice. The atrium reminds me of a Ramada Inn. It's bright and very clean. Their room is on the small side but adequate for their needs. The opportunities for them to get involved are many and varied. Everything from documentary screenings to day trips to, of course, Bingo. The healthcare workers are polite, respectful, and responsive. There is a cruise director type person who gets to know the residents and tries to invite them involved in activities they might like. I was visiting for a week from L.A. and was so happy my family found this facility.

Wellbridge of Romeo has a lot to recommend but there are some serious negatives. The facility is…read morelocated in a quiet tranquil wooded area and the building itself is very nice. Staff is quite good especially nurses Emily, Stephanie, Erika and Jordin. Also aides Lisa and Kathy. Physical therapists Nancy and Martha were very encouraging when I was often weak and negative about going to PT. Alex was the best dietician and counseled me on nutrition to get stronger and healthier. Speaking of nutrition, the food was not good. Coffee was always cold. Eggs were cold and rubbery. The food was pre-made and not very nutritious or appetizing. I finally settled on oatmeal for breakfast. The only decent coffee was in the Bistro, but it was often closed due to staffing shortages. But the WORST was the blood draw system. They almost always drew my blood at 3am! And the phlebotomists poked me way too often until they could find a good vein. Being awakened at 3 am and then poked repeatedly doesn't help in recovery or health improvement. On at least 2 occasions they lost my blood samples and had to redo them!

She spent quality time evaluating and working with our grandson's current speech while we watched in a 2 way mirror. Our therapist took notes and stated how helpful this will be going forward in fixing the apraxia my grandson has. We are so grateful to have a path. We waited more than a year, and got a call from a coordinator just to be told "Don't send your kid…read morehere", "We are not miracle workers". We had to make a very dramatic entrance to the clinic because we had to put up a fight. After starting speech & OT, we were then greeted by very unhelpful insurance coordinator. Our child is not on the spectrum so he didn't have unlimited access to therapies, which ultimately led us to pay completely out of pocket. One day we've learned how the speech therapists at KCC are in "trouble" if they can't get the kids to speak. That's why they wanted our son to go elsewhere because he was a severe case of apraxia and not a good "marketing material" for not being able to sell a success story in x amount of time. We have connected with other renowned speech therapy, and left for good. The kind that do not abandon therapies. It was the best decision we made for our son. It is also pretty odd that they are in this business for more than 30 years and they only have 13 google reviews.
