    "Certified Pre Owned" issue
    Joseph M.

This is a late review from my past experience with Devan Lowe Cadillac GMC from which I purchased a 2016 Cadillac Escalade ESV Luxury with 8900+ miles on Aug 09, 2017. The reason for my late review is I was activated as a member of the Texas National Guard in order to support the Hurricane Harvey Rescue/Recovery effort. Before I get into this review I will mention that this vehicle was purchased out of state, from Alabama to Texas. The best method to do this is either fly out there and drive the vehicle back yourself, or have it shipped to your address, I chose the latter. I do not believe the shipping company I chose would cause this issue, as they are one of the few auto shipping couriers on Yelp that are in the 4 1/2 - 5 star range (Flat Price Moving & Auto Shipping). Purchasing the vehicle was easy, especially if you already have a vehicle buyers check, and cash to put down. There were no problems closing the deal with FedEx Overnight paperwork, nor communication to get things closed out, as my Wife knew exactly what she wanted. Unfortunately after closure of the sale, that's where things started to fall apart. This vehicle was purchased as a Certified Pre Owned Vehicle from Cadillac Devan Lowe, which needs to go thought a 172 Point inspection to be certified as such. So with that being said, there is no reason way there should be any issues buying CPO. The first issue we came across is a terrible vibration issue that came from 65+mph on up. We took the vehicle to Cavander Cadillac GMC located in San Antonio Texas, and given a loaner to figure out what was wrong. Turns out these vehicles have a hit or miss with the 8 spd transmission, fortunately for me that wasn't the case. After a week with the vehicle it turned out to be the passenger side front tire that couldn't be balanced. It was swapped out and replaced under the MFG Warranty. Still something you shouldn't go through if its a certified pre owned. The next issue, and one I am unfortunately stuck with, is for some reason, the passenger side door has previous paint work done to it. I noticed upon further inspection while washing the car with a car wash mitten and 2 five-gallon buckets, I noticed that the clear coat was peeling from the front passenger side quarter glass, by the rear view mirror. I though "eh not too bad, I'll just take it back to Cavander Cadillac and see if the warranty can fix this too". Nope! I was told that the vehicle was repaired/resprayed, a terrible job was done, and overspray was found on the passenger fender. The Service Manager pointed out all the discrepancies with the repair work and acknowledged that it wouldn't come from the factory like this. Cost of repair? 1800+ dollars because the vehicle had been repaired, and didn't come from the factory like that. I tried to contact the sale's person but seems to have blocked my number, or just flat out ignores my text messages. We are still working around the clock with the destruction of Hurricane Harvey, so this is the only time I was able to make this review. I don't have time to contact GMC, Managers, whoever, and I foster for 3 kids, and have 3 of my own, so we are a very busy family. My recommendation is to be VERY careful if you are making an Out Of State purchase with this dealership, or simply advise against doing so. I cannot speak for the face-to-face experience, but I hope it's not as bad as the lack of communication or false representation of the vehicle I've received.

Always take my vehicles here for service. They are more professional and less expensive for me than anyone else in town.

I was ultimately informed the vehicle had been sold. Only as I was leaving was it clarified that another customer with an appointment had arrived before me and completed the purchase. This reflects a serious breakdown in scheduling, communication, and respect for customers' time. I would strongly advise future buyers to obtain written confirmation before making any trip.

If I could leave 0 stars for this dealership I would. Where do I start? From start to finish, this…read moredealership has been an absolute nightmare to buy a car from. DO NOT plan on buying a car from this place if you live out of state, unless you want headache after headache. You can call and talk to 5 people and be told they will call you back and guess what? THEY DON'T. Employees at this place are extremely unhelpful and could care less about your time. We bought a vehicle from this dealership on 11/9 and live about 2 hours away from this dealership in GA. 1st issue; Took over 2 hours for them send over the CORRECT contract to our bank so that they could write us a check that morning, so we sat at the bank until after they closed because of this. 2nd problem; We drive 2 hours to the dealership (called to let them know before we left that we were on the way), and the vehicle wasn't even ready. Had to wait for them to fill the vehicle up with gas after we sat there for 2+ more hours to finalize everything. 3rd problem; Paid full price for all weather mats that were literally taken out of another vehicle on the lot, visibly used. At this point my wife and I were ready to go, so I bit the bullet and just cleaned them up myself when we got home. Braiden and Alex both who helped us seemed to have no idea what they were doing the entire time. Braiden was new, so I can understand, but Alex who was "training" him was extremely inefficient in the entire process, who ended up leaving throughout the middle of the process. This now had us sitting there with someone very new (not his fault) and waited 30+ mins at a desk for the finance manager who apparently didn't even know we were waiting after we asked 3 times how much longer this was going to take. 4th problem; We have now had the vehicle for 20 days, and the bank we financed with still hasn't received information, the tag office also say that they haven't received anything. They failed to date our tag for a month out, so we had to get a temporary tag just to be able to drive the vehicle legally. This was after we called and they assured us a new temp tag was being mailed. Jeremy (The General Manager) has seemed to try and be helpful, however good luck having his employees forward any messages for him to call you back, you will have to keep calling and eventually get his direct number for communication. Jason who we spoke to 2 times never relayed our message for Jeremy to call us back ASAP due to the constant issues. STAY AWAY FROM PLACE.

My husband and I were finally going to get our first car together. My husband had done extensive…read moreresearch on different cars and wanted to try Hyundai. We were looking to buy a used car or SUV from 2010s, something fuel efficient, and something with at least 150,000 miles or less. On the day we had chosen to look at cars there was severe weather expected for late that evening so we understood that there might not be a lot of available workers. We were simply just going to survey and look at our options. When we pulled up to the lot, a gentleman came out and was very nice to us. He looked ready to help us and explore what they had available with what we were wanting. However, things took a turn. He handed us off to another gentleman. The second gentleman did not look ready to help us at all and did not look as kind or presentable. He immediately started taking information from us and asking us questions. He had my husband sign documents which did not seem right to me but I had never personally done the process of buying a car. I suppose whatever process he was doing was to match us with a vehicle based on what information we had given him. He said he found a match and went to pull up a vehicle to look at and test drive. This is where things started getting worse. The vehicle he brought us was a 2020 Tucson that smelled like it had been a smokers car (even though he claimed it did not belong to one), way out of our budget, over 150,000 miles, and had a messed up interior. My husband and I test drove without the salesman in the car, and it drove fine. After discussing in the car about our opinions, my husband and I came to the conclusion that this car was just not worth it based price, look, etc. After coming back from the test drive, the salesman seemed occupied with other customers so much so that he didn't seem to be able to help us. Again, we went in that day knowing that there would be a slow down because of the inclement weather but not to the extent where it seemed like he could not manage offering help. This seems rude on our part but if he or anyone was preoccupied with other customers they could have asked us to come back another day where they could give us their full attention/help. The gentleman started acting very sleazy towards us. He didn't even try and make deals with us or show us any other cars just SUVs. He kept claiming that we would find nothing with what we had. He made a very rude comment saying, "We are not a Mom and Pop dealership." We understood that going in but you do not have to be rude. My husband and I got so annoyed that he wanted to just get up and leave. However, as we were leaving the salesman was trying to find us something else. My husband just happened to catch what he was saying to what he assumed was a manager, that we had too many stipulations and that we did not need to be buying a car. My husband and I walked out after that. I was COMPLETELY disheartened as this was my first experience buying a car and it was so awful. I understand that dealerships have been known to be sneaky but this was just absolutely demeaning and low. Do not shop here. We did end up buying a car that day at the dealership next door at Team One Toyota. It was ten times better. No documents needed to be signed upon arrival just identification with a driver's license and they were so sweet and kind. They understood that we were first time buyers and were so excited to have us. They even stayed past the time they were closing to make sure we drove away with the vehicle we wanted to purchase. In the end we did drive away from the dealership with that car and completely content and happy.
