There is that old saying " You should seek to understand, and then be understood", but at this store its almost a liaison between you and your sense of style. When you buy a piece at Chariots on Fire and place it in your house, people will see it and try understand its meaning; but ultimately they will understand you. Give yourself 30-40 mins minimum to find a spot!! Store - it's located at the edge of the main Abbott Kinney rows of stores. Clean, bright, lots of employees helping customers. It's Valentine's Day so it's busy busy! Piercing Studio - Marley was FANTASTIC! I was late to my appt by an hour - traffic horrific & parking horrendous. However, Marley gave up her lunch break to accommodate me. She explained clearly what she was going to do at this follow-up. It was to replace the flat back to a shorter one since it's healing well. It took less than 3 mins & no pain or tugging. Marley told me The Americana location is hiring a new piercing professional & Piercing Studio will reopen ver soon! Today, I happen to have checked in later here at the Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey and this shop was open. The shop is on the corridor as you walk from the main lobby and out towards the pool/gazebo area. On the display case, a golden south seas pearl ring, that caught my eye and lured me inside. I was greeted by the owner Steven Jackson and he was cordial and showed me that gorgeous ring and other fabulous jewelry I Love Love Love. Jewelry for men, women and whatever your inclination, diamonds, platinum, gold, gems and peals...oooh la la. I was dazzled with the unique collections and was shocked to learn the prices were so much less $$$$ than the jewelry shops in Beverly Hills (Mikimoto, Cartier, Van Clefs, Tiffany, DeBeers) to name a few. I brought my wedding band in for a repair after one diamond fell out (which I was fortunate enough…read moreto find). I was quoted a little over $200 for the diamond replacement and a very minor resize of ¼ size down. When I went to pick up the ring, I was informed--after the work was already completed--that additional prongs had been replaced on both sides of the ring and that I now owed an extra $240. I was never contacted, informed, or asked for approval before this additional work was done. The explanation given was that some of the prong work was necessary due to resizing. However, after waiting over 40 minutes at pickup because the ring was "in billing," I was then told the resize had actually been forgotten entirely and had to be done on the spot. This made the justification for the unapproved prong work even more concerning. After calling twice and initially being brushed off by sales associates, I finally spoke with the owner, who acknowledged that I had not consented to the extra work and agreed to waive the additional charge. While I appreciate the owner ultimately correcting the billing, the situation itself should never have occurred. Jewelry--especially a wedding band--is deeply personal. Any additional work, design changes, or charges should never be performed without explicit customer approval. Between the unapproved services, forgotten resize, and billing delay, the experience felt disorganized and stressful. I would urge future customers to proceed with caution, insist on written estimates, and require approval before any additional work is done.
