I called in and was told my food would be ready in 20 min. When I showed up 20 min later, I had to wait for an additional hour!!!!!! I will NEVER go bac 11/8/18 OK..I shouldn't have used the word, "NEVER," in my previous post. I really need a falafel right now and I don't have time to drive too far. So, I called and put in my order. The lady said, "Your order will be ready in 10 minutes." It's 5:15p. Let's see what happens. 5:30p... My order was ready! TLDR: Incredibly friendly business owner whipped me up a delicious and handsomely priced lunch today. This place is like a Chipotle of Shwarma. Pick your protein, pick your presentation method (wrap, bowl, etc.) and then pick all of your toppings. I loaded my wrap up today with beets, feta, chickpeas, pickled turnips, tomatoes, and cucumbers. So yum! If I had to comment on just one thing, I'd be the food quality. This is healthy, non-greasy, clean food that's full of flavor. If you're coming from shwarma like Bucharest, you'll know their food generally drips oil. I was looking for another great place to get shawarmas since it's not always convenient to go to my favorite location for them. The shawarma was okay. The chicken needed more seasoning, and there wasn't enough garlic sauce. This made for a dry, bland shawarma. Not what I was looking for. I asked if there was a combo for 4+ people, but was told there isn't. I wasn't too hopeful- it's not listed on their menu, but it's pictured here on Yelp. The seasoning on the shawarma could be applied with a more liberal hand, in my opinion. Though I wouldn't consider myself a traditionalist, I much prefer the cone shawarma (layers of meat and fat on a rotating spit) to the steak served here. I didn't detect any tangy sumac goodness in the fattoush dressing (which is what I adore so very much about the salad)- and that left me unfilled. I requested beets on my fattoush, but was disappointed when I got home and found beef adorning my salad instead (an understandable miscommunication). Ok here we go! I love this place ok but they are not consistent and I don't like that! I'm a Fattoush Salad addict I know how it should be made i even know how to make the dressing at home. On March the 5th 2018 around 8:00pm I stop here with my friend whom I am trying to convince that this place is better than Burcherest so she orders a chicken shwarma and I get my usual my Fattoush Salad and lately I been getting the Gyro it's delicious. Well this time my salad was made with regular lettuce uhmmm wait a Fattoush Salad is not made with regular Lettuce it's made with Romaine lettuce like the one I ordered through Uber Eats a few days ago! I felt I should have been told they are using regular lettuce and give me a choice if I want that or not because it's a big difference! Romaine holds up better to the dressing than regular lettuce so I get all the way home open my food and remind you I haven't eaten or drank anything all day and to open my salad and see this regular Lettuce and not Romaine was a great disappointment! My lettuce became wilted after 5 or 10 minutes of having the dressing on it, not good at all. I really hope my friend enjoyed her chicken shwarma because I hated my salad. Y'all got to stay consistent this ain't fair when I'm paying the price you ask for and you give me something I'm not use to having. You are going to have a great loss of customers like that and I'm going to be one of them! The chicken shawarma is absolutely delicious. The chicken is so flavorful and tender. This is a must try restaurant. I also tried a sample of the crushed lentil soup compliments of Mark, the owner. The best damn Beef Kafta I ever had. The flavor was amazing. I'll have to take a picture of my leftovers when I get back up. The only thing I didn't have were the pickled radishes. I think they just forgot to put em in my container. Which is ok because I'll definitely be making the trip back. I enjoyed my food. Oh and that soup....potato something....was amazing. Very competitive prices and flavorful selection of foods. I have been here 3-4 for lunch over the last 2 weeks and would recommend it. Had been wanting to try this place for a while now, finally got around to it last week. Place was very clean, had a great view of the kitchen. The menu choices and prices were fair. My only complaint was the complete lack of urgency in making my order. It shouldn't have taken 15 mins for me to get some chicken and rice basically. I noticed 5 people in the kitchen and a few of them seemed to be just standing around. The food was very fresh and I was impressed with the quality of the veggies. The garlic sauce was maybe a bit too lemony for me as I prefer the super garlicky kind. So I stopped in when it was raining hard out so I didn't feel like riding down town to Bucharest Grill so I stopped in here. I ordered 2 chicken shawarmas and 1 beef and a large fry along with one of there big pieces of cake,it all came up to about $26. First off let me say they cook all there food to order and that is great I asked for extra garlic sauce on each of my sandwiches but I should have asked for them to add some zeke sauce on all of them because looking at them I could have swore I was downtown until I tasted them. Im not saying they were bad but they were just missing that kick that I'm use to on my shawarmas, the chicken needed more seasoning and so did the beef and it needed more sauce to make it less dry like I said they should add the zeke sauce to there sandwiches from now on if they want to have people running in here like they do across the street at motor city soul food. The fries were great with the seasoning and the cake was the bomb. So if you go make sure to ask for zeke sauce on your sandwich and extra garlic sauce on the side. read more

We did not have a good experience trying Detroit Shawarma for the first time. I showed up around 2:45 on a Monday and did not get my food until 3:20. There was only one other customer dining in and she had just received her food when we got there. They were out of waffle fries even though there was an advertisement right next to the register about their new waffle fries. Overall a very bad experience, no explanation as to why our two wraps took upwards of 20 minutes to make. I will not go here again. read more

First time we tried it. It's mostly take out though they do have a few stools at a counter. The beef kafta was very good, as was the lentil soup. The pickled veggies and samoon bread were also very good. The chicken shawarma was good, but not exceptional. We'll be back. Can't wait to try the falafel and hummus. read more
