Our GC recommended we go with Tan's Floor Service, and we're SO GLAD we did!!! Tony and his team are incredibly kind and competent. A few areas in particular that stood out to us: 1. Repairs were done beautifully. an 1870 house has a lot of different types of floors from 150 years of repairs... Tony's team matched the flooring very well (super thoughtful in the wood they chose). 2. Midway through the project, we decided we needed to replace the stairs. A lot of them were cracking, and moving in with two kids we decided now was the time to do it. Tony's team expertly replaced the stairs, including putting in the crown molding. 3. Incredible work by Marco and Jessica! We needed serious help to finish a new fireplace…read moreinstallation that had been badly botched by a previous contractor. After interviewing multiple painters we chose to go with the husband/wife team of Marco and Jess because of their portfolio of work and the sense that they would treat our home as their home compared to the more impersonal competitors we met. We also liked that MJ have capabilities beyond painting because we knew that our project might require special handling. Marco and Jess were punctual, communicated timing and expectations perfectly, and kept us in the loop at every step along the way. What I love is that they were problem-solvers. While they identified all important items before the job began, as they progressed some unique factors of our project emerged and they were able to quickly pivot and provide solutions. And those solutions weren't intended to add more hours to beef up the bill. At the end of the project they could easily have wrapped up and left but they made a critical suggestion to help improve the final product beyond what we expected. After we accepted their suggestion it took additional time and effort for them to finish the job, but they were absolutely right with their idea and we are beyond thankful for their insight and expertise. They don't use sub-contractors but have their own crews for bigger jobs. A couple anecdotes to illustrate the level of care they showed. After they were done, I noticed that they were on the hands and knees looking for any little droplets of paint that escaped their coverings. Jess fluffed up pillows and restored the workspace in an extra gesture that no other contractor has ever done. And after I paid them (all at the end-they didn't ask for anything up front) and while we were chatting, Marco happened to notice a tiny paint stroke in a high corner that wasn't as straight as he would have liked. He went back to his vehicle and got everything out to make a quick fix. Everything looks great and I have confidence that if for some reason something went wrong they will stand by their work with no hassles. We have another painting job we'll need done later this year or early next year and I already know that I won't need to put it out for bid. Marco and Jess have earned my trust and gratitude for their work and their professionalism. They are also very nice people!

We mostly worked…read morewith Rob, who provided oversight to all flooring and tile projects, as well as working with our general contractor, who at the time had several different contractors working at the same time. Rob and his team were very flexible and thorough. Rob had my husband and I come to his showroom where we were offered a surprisingly large selection of flooring and tiling options, and worked with us to help us create a custom look that we wanted for our home. **side note: we finished construction on our addition/modification to existing home in early 2019, so we have had ample time to "break in" the floor and tile from every day use. I must say that the work done was very high quality, as we have not one negative thing to say about it! Everything is in wonderful shape, and we are still just as happy as we were when it was first installed!** TILE WORK: amazing. Rob and his tile installers were great--I told Rob that I wanted two niches in the shower, and he made it happen--no questions asked. There was an issue we had (on our end) with the studs in that shower wall, and he worked with the GC to create a solution where we were able to have our niches without having to compromise. The two tilers were friendly, fast and very efficient. You can tell they've been doing it for years. They did a wonderful job on our floor and shower, and we couldn't be happier. My in-laws had the same process as we had with Rob, and are very happy with their choices and work as well! LVF: This was one of the last projects we had RKM do, my husband wanted a flooring for his basement "man cave" so Rob guided us to luxury vinyl flooring. He knew what look we had in mind and matched us with a LVF which was not only cost friendly, but was exactly what we wanted for the space. His LVF installation guys were in and out in one morning--I couldn't believe how fast it was! It's been a year since the installation, and the floor is still perfect. WOOD FLOORING: My in-laws had to pick out flooring for their 2 story addition, and Rob was very helpful throughout. My MIL had a specific wider-planked style in mind (which had to be special ordered), and Rob did a great job searching and working with her to find the perfect finish. The floors are so beautiful in person! He even helped her find wooden flooring vents which perfectly matched the hardwoods! KITCHEN BACKSPLASH: My MIL wanted these oversized aqua tiles and ended up purchasing them on her own; and RKM's tilers installed. They did a wonderful job! We had standard white subway tile with dark gray grout installed in our kitchen. They did a wonderful job with that too!! REFINISHING HARDWOODS: we had RKM come in to refinish our dated orange-ish oak floors to a more neutral brown tone in our family room. We scheduled it to be done while we were away for vacation, but they were done in (I believe) 3 days from start to finish. The flooring looks great, and we removed the baseboards beforehand to make it easier for them. We have tilework on the floor around the fireplace, and working with stain I was a little nervous about how clean the edges around it would be--but it was perfect! No bleeding, no splashes, no inconsistency in the color--I will definitely be calling again when we decide to refinish the rest of the downstairs! All in all, I would happily give RKM's team of Rob and his installers the highest possible rating. They are all high quality, experienced workers, who know exactly what they are doing, and are super efficient. I cannot day enough good things about them. Thank you so much RKM for helping to make our house a beautiful home that we are so happy with!
